Now reading: Chapter 133 - 132: Both Sides at Night from Mystic Overlord: Reading Gives Strength, a Fantasy novel by Lost Solar Sail.

Under the cover of night at the other end of the plant maze.

The cult sorcerers’ leader was directing his subordinates, continuing the pursuit of the investigators’ team.

These wildly growing plants severely hindered their advance and created an oppressive atmosphere among the group of cult sorcerers.

Faced with such a situation, the cult sorcerer leader’s face looked particularly grim:

"Move it, faster!"

"And Igmore, Nike, you two head back and get the Blood Trace Powder, we’ll burn these damn vines soon!"

He scolded, issuing commands to his followers.

However, what the cult sorcerer leader felt inside was far worse than the expression on his face.

Up against the earnest Investigation Bureau, his shady organization indeed faced exaggerated pressure; it was only logical for a church made up of mbers with twisted characters and vile spells to disintegrate.

During this intense period of suppression, tonight’s ambush took on significant importance.

—This was after the surprise attack on the Investigation Bureau’s building.

It was the cult sorcerers’ best hope to severely weaken the Bureau’s power!

In truth, tonight’s operation had taken into account many aspects of the Bureau, an important mission that only allowed success, not failure.

If this operation were successful,

the cult sorcerers would be greatly emboldened, and the Bureau would lose elite combat power and be significantly weakened.

—But man’s plans are no match for fate.

The group of investigators, during their mission, had actually invited a church priest into the city!

Only when facing these religious sect adversaries,

would their Spirit-contaminating Fla Arrays prove less effective.

Yet, this slight variable granted the other side a chance to resist.

In a sense, despite no evident loss of combat power, they were inadvertently drifting closer to the abyss of failure.

Such a degree of ’misfortune,’

was the very culprit behind the cult sorcerers’ leader’s unease.

As a dangerous elent who had successfully survived on the mystical side,

he had great faith in fate’s interference with the course of events.

And with the investigators managing to so divinely invite help from a priest tonight, and successfully avoiding their most lethal ambush, according to the doctrine of destiny, the goddess of fate was now standing on the other side.

If it were not for the heavy responsibility he bore for his organization, a mission he must fulfill in Greenwich,

—the cult sorcer leader could swear to the heavens.

He would have fled a minute ago!

Fleeing imdiately in face of danger was the way of survival for people like him.

Cult sorcerers who lurked in society’s shadows had no business stubbornly pursuing and killing investigators!

This was about loyalty to the invincible monster, Queen Dantrian.

The national power of Grid!

"Hmm...?"

Suddenly, the cult sorcerer leader noticed an unusual situation.

Among the subordinates at the forefront, climbing the vines and clearing a path for the others, there was one who had inexplicably stopped moving.

He just stood there, stiff as a board, not budging an inch.

"..."

Rapidly recalling the information he had received, the cult sorcerer leader’s face changed instantly, and almost roaring, he shouted at the others:

"Everyone, pay attention and control your emotions!"

"In the opposing team, there’s a Caster who can launch attacks based on human emotions, keep ssing around if you want to die!"

With the leader’s roar.

The others only noticed the motionless figure now.

Hidden within the gaps of the surrounding vines, tendril after tendril of fine black fog lurked beneath the shadows cast by the vines, and then wrapped around this individual.

This was the real reason why the cult sorcerer had lost the ability to move.

Even at that mont, other cult sorcerers about to be engulfed by the black fog had also been spotted.

— Ronald’s spell had been discovered.

The power of "Fury" to control a person’s movents was not even clear to most investigators.

Yet these cult sorcerers knew it!

Soon, two other cult sorcerers approached, trying to rescue their comrade whose ability to think had been controlled.

After a struggle that proved ineffective,

they finally gave up on the unlucky fellow.

————

Elsewhere, just as Ronald and the others had envisioned,

they arrived at the location of the battle between Lama and Patricia ahead of the cult sorcerers who were still clearing the way.

Without a doubt, the girl was engaged in a fight to the death with a demon, a battle tense beyond words.

This was the first ti Ronald had seen it.

The sight of Patricia launching her attack with all her might.

The silver sword blade, reflecting the starlight in the pitch-black night, darted back and forth like lightning, leaving trails of arcs that were clearly visible, reminiscent of electrified ions bouncing back and forth in a Wilson cloud chamber.

In front of Patricia stood Lama, transford into his demonic form.

The demon, with three bloody wounds on his body, was struggling with all his might to block Patricia’s attacks.

With a massive body nearly three ters tall, his developed muscles provided imnse strength.

At the sa ti, the demon’s movents were still agile, with no signs of sluggishness even in combat.

Each punch, full of power, would whip up the wind, and a hit on an ordinary person would certainly result in instant death, which was almost beyond doubt.

However, all of this.

Was aningless against Patricia.

As the girl slashed and stabbed with her sword, her figure constantly shifted around Lama. With each flicker of the silver light her steps reached the most advantageous position with uncanny precision, and her sharp sword blade always struck at the most delicate monts, from angles the demon struggled to defend against.

Every move seed to be calculated with exacting precision.

Even the chaotic environnt caused by the complex vines couldn’t affect Patricia’s confident rhythm in combat.

By contrast.

Although Lama as a demon was strong and moved quickly, he was always unable to land a counterattack on Patricia.

The three gashes on his body already attested to the outco of their previous clashes.

If this demon hesitated for even a second!

He would likely be imdiately penetrated by the cold sword blade.

Amidst the overwhelming assault like a fierce storm, there was an oppressive force that left no gaps.

"This..."

"Is this Nicholas’s power?"

Witnessing the battle in the dark, the clergyman who had arrived at the outskirts of the battlefield couldn’t help but exclaim:

"I... have never seen such a powerful swordsman..."

At that mont, Spencer beside him shook his head.

He spoke with a hint of emotion and did not hide his admiration:

"As you see, this is the strength of the strongest sword school in this country."

"Especially Miss Patricia; she is among the finest of Nicholas."
