This high casualty rate cos partly from the Huns’ fearless commitnt to sending their Iron Cavalry to death, and partly from the Iron Cavalry’s charging attack that is deadly to the Hun Elite Cavalry.

If there were only one type of attack mode, the opponent’s death rate would rapidly increase, but with both, the death rates on both sides are visibly escalating, and neither can be stopped.

Fortunately, both the Hun Elite Cavalry and the Xiliang Iron Cavalry belong to top-tier elite cavalry forces. After both sides suffered nearly a thousand casualties, the frontline soldiers had adapted to each other’s combat style, and their casualty rates quickly dropped to normal levels.

However, the problem of the Xiliang Iron Cavalry beca apparent. With so many comrades fallen in such a short ti, even the battle-hardened Xiliang Iron Cavalry couldn’t help but beco nervous in the face of such scenes.

The remaining Iron Cavalry clearly entered two modes: one was the morale decline of regular soldiers, and the other was entering a berserk mode. However, the Northern Huns Elite Cavalry wasn’t doing much better; the casualty rate directly caused half of the soldiers to fall out of Xubo Cheng’s Legion Talent.

After all, Hun Soldiers’ spirit isn’t as strong as iron; such a death rate is a huge test even for elites. Both sides suffered significant blows, otherwise, if either side could withstand the pressure completely, the situation might collapse.

On the other side, the Hun Guards originally pursuing Zhao Yun thought of turning back to assist as Zhang Fei and Huang Zhong charged out. But the Trap Formation rushing down the hill made them imdiately realize that they couldn’t turn back.

Chouhun roared, leading the charge towards the incoming Gao Shun from the hillside, displaying the distinctive radiance of a Military Spirit Legion.

Gao Shun imdiately activated the Military Spirit Effect; eliminating whoever ca his way was straightforward, given that his Military Spirit Effect was ant to crush the enemy, regardless of who the opponent was!

Both Military Spirit Legions pounced on each other like fierce tigers, and Zhao Yun’s White Horse instinctively got out of the battlefield, knowing being in the middle of a clash between two top-tier legions was a sure death.

Both sides unleashed arrows with will effects towards each other. However, with both sides’ Military Spirits fully activated, their qualities reached the peak, and the arrow barrage couldn’t even halt their advance.

Without waiting for a second wave of arrows, both sides abandoned the imprudent probing and drew their weapons, knowing they couldn’t solve distant enemies but believing close combat would eventually eliminate them.

The silver radiance representing the Trap Formation and the dark hue representing the Hun Guards collided the mont their weapons exchanged in their hands—king against king, general against general.

Gao Shun’s long spear struck directly at the spear blade of Chouhun, with the silver and black Military Spirits almost simultaneously cancelling each other out. Then they erupted with even stronger Military Spirit Power and began a fierce battle on the field, the surrounding ferocious aura forcing soldiers several zhang away.

Both Chouhun and Gao Shun started with annihilating kills, but with their bodies protected by Military Spirits, the immunity to death ant that unless they instantly decapitated the other or split their opponent in half, they couldn’t kill each other.

They ferociously exchanged fifty moves, their armor nearly in tatters, before brushing past each other. By this ti, the Trap Formation and Hun Guards were fighting with bloodshot eyes, with only Chouhun feeling unusually agitated inside.

To be honest, from his countless expeditions East and West, Chouhun had faced two Military Spirit Legions: one was the Roman Parliant’s Guards, and after that battle, the Northern Huns dominated Central Asia unchecked. Ro and Parthia pretended not to see as long as the Northern Huns didn’t provoke them.

The other was the Trap Formation in front of him now. In terms of personal strength and organizational capability, the Trap Formation was the most formidable Military Spirit Legion Chouhun had ever encountered.

Though the Roman Parliant was brutal and their troop composition slightly over three thousand, the Northern Huns Guards managed a favorable casualty ratio through possible counterasures, leading to Ro choosing negotiation.

But the Trap Formation was different. This style of pure violent combat initiated by activating their Military Spirits proved too difficult for the Northern Huns Guards, regardless of their centuries-old combat experience and technique. In such a brute force confrontation, technique couldn’t stop power in a one-on-one matchup!

"Slaughter them for !" Gao Shun intensified military spirit output, forcibly elevating all soldiers in his legion to Qi Refining to Gang, eliminating as many as possible. Gao Shun refused to believe the Northern Huns truly had thousands of reserve soldiers for a Military Spirit Legion.

Even with centuries of grueling training, and a fully established training system for reserve soldiers in Military Spirit Legions, Gao Shun couldn’t believe the Northern Huns, with their limited population, could accumulate thousands of soldiers matching a Military Spirit Legion in quality.

Of course, Gao Shun hadn’t considered this before. Jia Xu and Chen Gong specifically reminded him; both knew that if a Military Spirit Legion played tricks by not deploying everything in one battlefield, although overall combat power would decline, dreaming of destroying them was wishful thinking.

As long as enough elite reserve forces were available, slightly integrated with training, or if reaching a level comparable to the Xiliang Iron Cavalry Headquarters, they wouldn’t need training. Just leaving a place for them in an identical attribute Military Spirit Legion would integrate them as a mber.

This was, essentially, playing foul. Without full deploynt, Military Spirit Legions can’t unlock ultimate abilities, like the Vanguard’s ultimate gain of one-tenth combat power by killing an enemy, or the Trap Formation’s whole-level upgrade ultimate effect, all requiring full-legion action. Otherwise, a hidden mber renders the legion virtually undying.

Jia Xu was well-versed in this, having seen the Flying Bear try it before; however, Li Ru subsequently found this significantly affected combat power, creating a detailed and systemic reserve army training plan.

But it wasn’t used, as Flying Bear was wiped out, a decision that seems foolish in hindsight—it wasted such a superb legion.

Of course, this mattered little now. What mattered was Jia Xu understood upon receiving news northward that the Northern Huns’ Military Spirit Legion was blatantly playing tricks.

But no worries, the cost of trickery is reduced combat power, the result is expending elite soldiers more easily, and unwillingness to fight leaves no choice when the ti finally calls for it.

Thus, Jia Xu instructed Gao Shun to exhaust the Northern Huns’ Military Spirit Legion’s reserve forces quickly while they were unable to fight head-on.
