Turning a street corner, Qing Chen and the others suddenly saw dozens of white skeletons scattered across the street.
Beside the skeletons lay firearms, bullets, and shells.
Strangely, on the other side were two more skeletons, also holding firearms. The Black Combat Uniforms they wore were gnawed apart by the swarming mice, leaving only a faint outline visible.
These weren’t Kunlun’s people, but those who had exchanged fire with Kunlun.
Judging by the position of the skeletons, two n in black seed to have been running ahead, with the Kunlun mbers pursuing from behind.
These two wearing Black Combat Uniforms must have been experts. Iodophor and his team sacrificed dozens of lives just to take them down.
Qing Chen stood silently on the long street, watching this scene.
In a flash, he seed to return to the past, seeing Iodophor pass by him: "They were blocked by the mouse swarm. We must kill them, don’t let them have a chance to destroy the hard drive!"
In the intense crossfire, Kunlun mbers fell one by one.
However, the battle also enraged the mouse swarm, forcing Kunlun mbers to fight while retreating, eventually getting trapped inside the Transportation Bureau building.
"I see," Qing Chen said. "Kunlun mbers discovered upon reaching the PCE headquarters that the hard drive had just been destroyed. So they deduced that the ones who destroyed the hard drive hadn’t gone far, offering them a slim chance. Hence, they ca to the Transportation Bureau hoping to get lucky and catch up with those who destroyed the hard drive."
Iodophor and the team had no sophisticated plan, no powerful firepower support; all they could wager was their lives.
Qing Chen looked at the skeletons still clutching firearms with finger bones; these Kunlun mbers wanted to fight even in death.
"Keep moving forward, the firepower at the Transportation Bureau is very weak. I guess their survivors are few, nearing exhaustion," Qing Chen didn’t hold much optimism regarding the situation of the Kunlun mbers.
Everyone quickened their pace.
Yet even though Qing Chen had ntally prepared, he was still shocked when he saw the scene at the Transportation Bureau building.
It was a building over twenty stories tall.
Outside the building gathered an overwhelming wave of rats, trying to storm up the building from inside. Countless rats piled into a mountain outside the stairs, reaching up to over ten floors high.
The rat swarm was like a black sea, densely writhing, climbing upward.
As if a giant from Hell opened its Black mouth, trying to swallow the entire building.
"No wonder the rat swarm at the Third District frontline didn’t match my calculations," Qing Chen murmured. "Turns out Iodophor and the others dragged part of the rat swarm here!"
A rough estimate suggested millions of rats below the building, too terrifying!
Qing Chen didn’t even know what Kunlun had done to infuriate the Rat King to such an extent, that it was determined to kill them at all costs!
Just then, from high up, soone tossed down a chair.
The chair rumbled downward, crushing untold amounts of stacked-up mice.
Tables, chairs, sofas were thrown down one by one by the Kunlun mbers from the rooftop, along with ignited bed sheets and curtains. The towering flas burned the stacked rat swarm, causing them to squeal in chaos.
"They must have run out of ammo and are throwing furniture to slow the rat swarm’s attack," Qing Chen said, his voice trembling. "How...how have they managed to hold on for these days?"
This was a genuine question from the depths of Qing Chen’s heart.
No ammunition, no support, no food, how could one hold a building against a swarm of millions?
Qing Chen couldn’t understand.
He conjured a black sniper rifle, pulling the trigger shot by shot, the orange bullet heads erupting with high initial speed through the spiral rifling.
The incendiary rounds packed with magnesium-aluminum alloy and barium nitrate exploded on impact with the mouse swarm, turning them into balls of fla.
The people on the rooftop seed a bit surprised to see this, pausing their throwing motions. Qing Chen saw Iodophor co to the edge of the rooftop, cheering and waving at him.
Over a dozen Kunlun mbers ca to the edge, excitedly waving at Qing Chen.
Their faces were ashen, cheeks sunken from hunger.
But their eyes were still bright, shining like stars in the night.
Qing Chen’s heart ached; these people were here under his orders.
Of over six hundred Kunlun mbers, only so few remained, perhaps so more inside, but they wouldn’t exceed a hundred.
Qing Chen forced a smile and waved back, and then Iodophor’s waving arm halted abruptly. He suddenly patted his chest, then gave a thumbs-up.
Next, Iodophor pointed towards the direction behind Qing Chen and the others, then waved once more... But this ti, the gesture ant for Qing Chen to leave.
Qing Yi watched this scene, stunned. He had also drunk Realm Callia, therefore he understood Iodophor’s gestures.
Patting the chest ant the mission was complete.
Pointing behind Qing Chen and the others was because Iodophor saw a new wave of mouse swarms attempting to encircle them as well.
The repeated wave ant, the rats are too many to kill them all. Go, leave the rest to us.
Go.
Leave now.
Yet Qing Chen completely ignored the gestures. He continued advancing toward the building, resolutely firing, turning the mice one by one into balls of fla.
Iodophor, seeing him not leave, grew frantic, waving his arms wildly.
But Qing Chen acted as if he couldn’t see at all.
Qing Yi looked back, hearing the rumbling sound of the marching mouse swarm behind them, like ten thousand horses galloping.
