Return countdown 6:00:00.

Gao Wen looked at the ti; it was ti to get off work.

After the release of the "New World" article, he, sitting in the empty Hope dia Building, had overnight beco the most famous journalist in the Federation.

Under his personal account, he suddenly gained millions of followers, with many people considering him a leader of public opinion.

The people of the Third District were celebrating, even though today the Jindai and Deer Island had dispatched more soldiers to suppress the carnival in the Third District.

The victory from last night alone was enough to drive the people of the Third District into a frenzy, but under the call of the Parents’ eting and Gao Wen, they gradually regained their senses.

They didn’t rush out of the Third District to riot, nor did they attack the political centers and ntal Dojo of Jindai and Deer Island.

Gao Wen posted on his social account: "The right ti has not yet co; we will continue to wait for the night to pass and the daylight to arrive."

A play on words.

The Jindai and Deer Island marched their troops into the Third District for martial law and curfew, continuing to search for the whereabouts of the Parents’ eting. But this day-long delay was enough for the remaining families to evacuate.

Just then, soone called Gao Wen: "Hello? Is this Mr. Gao Wen from Hope dia?"

"I am," Gao Wen calmly replied as he looked at the ’unknown number’ on his phone: "May I ask who this is?"

The voice on the other end was cold: "I’d like to discuss sothing with you. Could you clarify on your social account that the Parents’ eting is nothing but a criminal organization, completely unlike the just organization you’ve portrayed?"

"Sorry, I can’t do that," Gao Wen said calmly. "I’m simply writing to the public what I’ve seen, heard, and felt. They have the right to know the truth, and what Hope dia has been doing for over a thousand years is rely recording the truth."

"But Hope dia didn’t use to have such a radical stance; you’re stepping beyond the realm of truth. Truth doesn’t take sides, but you do," the voice said on the phone.

Gao Wen smiled and said, "Now, this world needs a stance."

"Understood, I wish you a pleasant life."

The call ended.

Gao Wen stood in the empty large office, silent for a few minutes.

A few minutes later, as if having prepared his thoughts, he took out the WiStar-11 handgun from the drawer.

But he quickly chuckled to himself: "You’re just a journalist, and you want to fight? Too naive."

Saying that, Gao Wen put the gun back in the drawer.

When he reached the first-floor lobby, he looked at the nas of past Hope dia predecessors on the wall.

In the most prominent place was an inscription: "Record the truth, though facing death nine tis, never regret - Jiang Xu."

Jiang Xu was the editor-in-chief of Hope dia over a thousand years ago, who spoke out against injustice and was eventually assassinated.

At this mont, Gao Wen felt as if he had crossed a millennium, finding a kindred spirit.

Then he left the Hope dia Building with his head up and chest out.

On the streets of City No. 10, the atmosphere was gradually livelier, with bright neon lights once again shining. People, aside from working, also started to enjoy leisure and entertainnt in the city.

The disaster had passed; the living should not remain in yesterday.

Suddenly, Gao Wen felt as if soone was behind him, but when he turned around, he found nothing.

Gao Wen shook his head and stopped looking back. Instead, he walked slowly towards his ho, carefully observing the street as if he was bidding farewell.

At the entrance of a nearby alley, soone watched him coldly, a voice coming through the communication channel: "Prepare to act. Kill him and retreat."

The next mont, two n erged from the alley ahead of Gao Wen, holding guns.

They raised their arms, ready to shoot.

Yet at that mont, a roaring sound ca from above, and a sniper bullet pierced through the assassin’s chest.

In the darkness, Xiao Qi leaped down from the second-floor room beside the road, tightly gripping the neck of the other assassin, but not killing him.

Shooting sounded elsewhere as if battles were occurring simultaneously in several places, but they ended quickly.

Gao Wen stared blankly as Xiao Qi knocked out the assassin and put handcuffs on him.

"What are you guys...?" Gao Wen asked in a stunned whisper.

Xiao Qi grinned and said, "The Parent said that once you publish the article, given Jindai’s character, they might choose to assassinate you, and we must protect you well."

"That Parent predicted it? Hasn’t he left six days ago?" Gao Wen asked curiously.

"Yes, he specifically instructed us before leaving," Xiao Qi explained with a smile. "Pretty impressive, right? Plan every move flawlessly!"

Gao Wen knew no one in this world could truly plan every move flawlessly, but the other’s preemptive order for Xiao Qi and the others to protect him was indeed quite impressive...

He thought he might just die tonight.

Xiao Qi cheerfully said, "We don’t have any political wisdom; we rely on brute force and public support. Jindai and Deer Island, well, they don’t have much political wisdom either. They just like assassination, killing those they can’t control. It’s great for us. We’ve always suspected there were Jindai informants still alive in City No. 10. We used you to draw them out. Don’t mind, okay?"

A city survived with six million people.

Even if the Parents’ eting didn’t want to acknowledge there were Jindai mbers among the refugees they fought alongside, they had to face the reality that spies inevitably existed.

Then he received another ssage through his earpiece.

After listening for a while, Xiao Qi said to Gao Wen with a smile, "Alright, you’re safe now. All 12 Jindai intelligence personnel have been captured. Next, the Parents’ eting will arrange dedicated personnel to protect you. Don’t worry, they won’t invade your privacy."

"Won’t it be a hassle for you guys?" Gao Wen said weakly.

"It won’t," Xiao Qi chuckled. "Once the New World arrives, that won’t be necessary. Don’t worry, it won’t be long."

Saying this, Xiao Qi loudly said into the communication channel, "Wrap it up, wrap it up. Thank you all for a long night of interrogation. I want to know everything about their affairs, even how many lovers they have. Once we have their intelligence network, tomorrow I’ll treat everyone to hotpot in the Fourth District. Xiao Ying said there’s a place with particularly good hotpot there!"

Afterward, the mbers of the Parents’ eting gathered on the street, escorting several captives away with their arms around each other’s shoulders.

On the road, so passersby curiously asked, "Seventh Brother, who are these people?"

Xiao Qi enthusiastically explained, "These bastards are Jindai’s lackeys who wanted to kill Mr. Gao Wen but got caught by us!"

Applause erupted from both sides of the road, and soone praised Xiao Qi for his good job.

In City No. 10, the families no longer needed to hide; they stood openly in the sunlight, doing the right things, supported by the people.

Gao Wen watched Xiao Qi and the others’ backs, feeling as if this city had co back to life.

"This is already the New World," Gao Wen said with a smile.

Yesterday, to add more, I only slept 4 hours, and my head has been hurting today. Only seven thousand words today.

I originally wanted to write a bit more at the end of this volu, but it feels best to stop here and then embark on a new journey. So I’m taking a short break for a day.

As always, barring any catastrophes, I’ll try to ensure an average of ten thousand words per day each month. I’ll make up for today’s missing words later.
