The nas of three jutsus flashed through Akira's mind almost at the sa instant.
Wind Style: Great Breakthrough.
Water Style: Water Wall.
Earth Style: Mud Wall.
In the blink of an eye, all three nature-transformation jutsus were unleashed in rapid succession.
The iron spears, moving so fast they were breaking the sound barrier, slamd first into a violent gale.
Dull impacts thundered one after another.
More than a hundred of the hundreds of spears were shredded apart instantly by the storm, breaking into a rain of useless scrap tal.
The remaining two hundred or so forced their way through, but their speed had already been cut sharply.
Then ca a dense chain of wet, ripping impacts.
They plunged straight into a rotating wall of water three ters thick.
The resistance of the water, combined with the force-dispersing spin of the barrier, made the spears feel as though they had crashed into a swamp. Their montum was stripped away at a terrifying rate.
By the ti anything made it through the Water Wall, only around fifty remained.
And even those had slowed to a pitiful crawl, no more threatening than kunai tossed casually by a rookie genin.
There was no suspense at all after that.
Those spent projectiles clattered uselessly against the final thick earthen wall, not even managing to punch out a dent.
That entire chain of attack and defense had played out in the span of barely a second.
Whether it was the seasoned Chiyo or Sakura at his side, both of them stared at the three defensive layers in front of Akira like they were looking at an impossible miracle.
Three different elental jutsus, cast instantly and in sequence.
That reaction speed, that hand-seal speed, it wasn't human.
Sakura's eyes were wide as she stared at Akira's back, filled with equal parts awe and disbelief.
They had graduated in the sa generation, and yet Akira's growth had beco so absurd that she couldn't even see his taillights anymore.
Inside the human puppet, Sasori was completely stunned too.
He had never imagined that his supersonic strike would be dismantled so perfectly, in an instant, by such a textbook combination of jutsus.
But blocking one direction was easy enough.
If attacks ca from every angle at once, then what?
A vicious gleam flashed through Sasori's eyes as he drove the human puppet to invoke Magnet Style again.
The iron sand fragnts littering the ground began to tremble, then rose into the air once more, gathering around Akira into countless sharpened iron needles.
They were so densely packed they nearly blotted out the sky, tens of thousands of them at least, each one glinting coldly.
Worse still, every single needle was spinning at high speed, sealing off the airspace above and all the surrounding angles.
Sasori let out a harsh laugh.
Let's see how you defend now. Turn into a pincushion.
Akira frowned slightly and lifted his gaze, calmly scanning the airtight killing field around him.
Sakura's face had already gone pale from the sheer scale of it.
This Magnet Style was on a completely different level from the last attack. Full-area saturation, no blind spots, no escape routes.
Even Chiyo looked grim. Sasori had coated the needles in Wind Style chakra as well, pushing their penetration power to another level. An ordinary Mud Wall would be as flimsy as paper against sothing like that.
But Sasori still wasn't done.
To make absolutely sure, he raised his other hand too.
The ground rumbled. More iron sand burst up through the surface and condensed into thick iron rods.
Even Chiyo shuddered a little at that.
So that was the plan. Use the rods to break the defense, then finish the job with the needle storm.
It was viciously thorough.
Sakura clearly saw the danger too. Her palms were slick with sweat as she looked helplessly toward Akira.
Her voice shook as she told him to retreat. Trying to endure a jutsu on this level head-on was asking to be killed.
Akira turned and gave her a small reassuring smile, his tone still as relaxed as ever.
"It looks scary, sure. But it's not impossible to deal with."
Sasori laughed the mont he heard that.
Still talking big at a ti like this? Against a full-area slaughter formation like this, what exactly did he plan to defend with?
Akira didn't bother answering him. He just cast Sasori a mild, dismissive glance.
That scornful indifference completely enraged Sasori.
His hands chopped downward.
In an instant, the iron needles and rods overhead ca crashing down like a black waterfall, carrying with them the force to obliterate everything below.
Sasori roared wildly.
Now even a god would be turned into a hive of holes.
Sakura cried out and slamd a fist into the ground with a trendous crash.
The earth split apart. She tried to tear up a giant slab of rock to shield Akira.
But against attacks moving at supersonic speed, her motion was simply too slow. Before the rock could even rise, the deadly storm had already reached them.
And then, at the final instant—
Akira's body erupted with dazzling lightning.
Thunder exploded into the air.
Countless violent streams of electricity instantly ford a brilliant lightning barrier around him, Chiyo, and Sakura.
The collision sounded like rain hamring banana leaves, so dense and rapid it made the ears ring.
The spinning needles and the heavy iron rods crashed into the lightning shield and burst apart in showers of sparks and crackling arcs.
Outside the barrier, fire and light exploded everywhere, like a whole festival of fireworks going off at once.
And standing in the middle of it all, Akira had both hands in his pockets, not even a single strand of hair out of place.
The bombardnt continued for over ten full seconds.
Not one iron needle made it through that seemingly thin layer of lightning net.
Sakura stared blankly at the man beside her.
At that mont, he felt like a pillar driven into the heart of the sea, holding open a zone of absolute safety.
