"No way, that’s impossible! Even if he hits all eight visible targets, that’s only around 80 points. There’s no way he can hit the hidden ones," Harumiko said, frowning.
Hiroshi gently smoothed her brow. "Don’t frown, sweetie.
Little girls shouldn’t frown. You can totally do this; at least 90 points is easily achievable. Just you wait and see what I can do; it’ll blow you away. Rember, no frowning!"
His actions left Harumiko blushing crimson and looking down.
Oh my gosh, why is my heart racing so fast? This is so embarrassing, she thought.
Yamakei Ichiryu pushed through the crowd to the front. "Teacher, I’d like to go first."
Asuma nodded, smiling, and moved to the side with his score sheet.
"Wow, Ichiryu’s going first! Unexpected. Let’s see what he can do," Hiroshi comnted, amused.
Ichiryu surveyed the targets, then pulled ten shuriken from his pouch.
I’ll show them my strength. Let’s see who’s the best, he thought.
"Whoosh!"
"Whoosh!"
In a matter of seconds, he’d thrown three shuriken.
His throwing speed was remarkable. Within a minute, all ten shuriken were airborne.
"Not bad, good speed," Asuma murmured, observing.
Asuma then approached the trees to examine the targets.
"Excellent! Seven shuriken hit the bullseye, one hit nine rings. One hidden behind the tree hit ten rings, and one missed. Ichiryu’s total score is 89 points!" Asuma announced.
"No way! 89 points? And one of the hidden targets was a bullseye! That’s incredible! Ichiryu’s definitely going to win.
We’ll have to do better than that," the students whispered amongst themselves.
"Very good. Who’s next? I’ll call out nas one by one," Asuma announced, looking at his list.
"Kimura."
"Lego."
