Several hours later, another test subject was added to the basent.
In truth, Shisui felt that controlling the high-ranking officials of Takigakure and eliminating those who opposed him was rely a necessary evil.
Who told them to beco obstacles? Why did they insist on leaving such a peaceful village, even attempting to expose his personal information?
The world outside was a at grinder, consud by war. Even a Jonin wandering alone risked being swallowed by the chaos, ending up as a naless corpse in a ditch.
In Takigakure, they didn't have to do anything—they just had to be obedient. Was the freedom he provided not enough?
"Experint 14: Failure. Next thod: Using insects to cure insects—The Hive Nesting thod."
Shisui looked at the last few thods recorded in his notes. He hadn't expected that after all his research, he would return to the original secret techniques of the Abura clan.
Standard Kikaichu, of course, were insufficient. They lived solely on chakra and produced only a weak signature in return.
To perform the first "Hive Nesting," he needed a more ferocious breed: an insect capable of rapidly devouring the Symbiotic Kikaichu attached to the host's internals.
Under normal circumstances, breeding such a specialized hunter would take years of trial and error. But Shisui had the Petri Dish.
For months, aside from the energy used to re-cultivate the Aluminum-Iron Insects, he hadn't touched the stored energy in the Dish.
Instead, he had used the Daodao Community to hunt bandits and underground organizations, using their remains to fuel the Dish.
The energy count had surpassed the 2,000-point mark, though the accumulation speed had slowed as the Land of Waterfalls was gradually "cleaned."
Shisui harvested the tissue from the insect corpses and took them to a separate laboratory. The equipnt here looked worn, but it represented the peak of current technology—scavenged by Ryuji Ida from various nations and smuggled in under the guise of regular trade goods.
Three hours later, the properties of the tissue were fully mapped. Shisui was confident: in other fields, he might be a re amateur, but in entomology, he was the world's foremost expert.
Within hours, he drafted an induction mutation plan: combining the previous Type-II Corpse-Eaters with the offspring of primitive Kikaichu and Erosion Bugs. By forcing these hybrids to compete and devour the Symbiotic Kikaichu, he accelerated their evolution.
After pouring in 100 units of raw energy, a new type of Kikaichu specifically designed to devour internal parasites was successfully bred.
This breed was aggressively exclusive. Once it established a symbiotic bond with a host, the host could only ever harbor this one type of insect.
Any other parasite, insect, or even certain large bacteria attempting to enter the body would be treated as an enemy and eliminated.
The host's body effectively beca a "pure" vessel. The only drawback was that these insects could never leave the body; once the hive was built, they would constantly breed and consu the host's chakra.
However, they possessed a primal restraint. They understood the symbiotic relationship: if the host died, the hive died. Thus, they maintained a delicate internal balance.
They wouldn't assist in ninjutsu. They ignored everything except for their primary duties: cleaning out parasites, toxins, and tabolic waste.
"No matter. Nothing is perfect. These are purely for ergency stabilization."
Shisui returned to the lab with the new breed.
A day later, the Jonin from the barrier was revived. His fear hadn't vanished; instead, it had transford into a profound, unshakable submission. He had seen the consequences of failure in the pits of the labyrinth.
He could feel it—the terrifying Symbiotic Insect was gone, replaced by a multitude of tiny, greyish-white specks.
They were invisible from the outside, but he could feel his vitality returning. He felt healthier than he had in years.
Furthermore, the physical enhancents granted by the first insect remained even after its death. He felt strong enough to take on several versions of his forr self.
"Is this... a blessing?"
"No. You're just lucky you were part of a successful treatnt," Shisui said, his hands blurring through seals as he slamd a Fūinjutsu onto the man's forehead.
He then produced a small, white insect and let it crawl into the man's nostril. As it entered, the Jonin felt the grey-white swarm in his body turn frantic, rushing toward his brain to eliminate the intruder, only to be held back by the barrier of the seal Shisui had just applied.
Monts later, the internal swarm retreated.
"What is your na?"
"Murakami..."
"I'm sending you out. You are to speak of this to no one. Not even your closest family. Act as if nothing happened."
Shisui struck the back of Murakami's neck, knocking him unconscious.
When Murakami woke up, he was lying in a rice paddy within the village.
He let go? No... he used two types of insects to chain forever.
Terror gripped his heart, but he had no choice but to follow Shisui's orders. He composed himself and walked ho.
Upon entering, he found his wife—usually a source of constant irritation and rage—waiting for him. After her usual barrage of scolding and shouting, she suddenly pulled him into a tearful embrace.
"You heartless man! I thought you had abandoned . But you stayed... you didn't run off with the money. You haven't eaten in days, have you? What do you want? I'll cook for you right now."
Murakami was stunned by the sudden tenderness. "Anything... as long as you make it, I'll love it."
His wife glanced back with a rare smile and tapped his head with a wooden spoon.
Slowly, a strange sense of happiness began to bloom in Murakami's chest. Perhaps his wife wasn't so terrible after all.
Perhaps she truly loved him. And the children... even if they didn't look much like him, it was probably just his imagination during a bad mood.
A wave of intense guilt washed over him.
I'm a monster, he thought. How could I have even thought of running away and leaving such a beautiful, kind, and gentle wife alone in this hive?
