The comrcial street had been completed for a full month.

As Shisui had predicted, the influx of rchants brought prosperity, but it also brought shadows. Hidden Leaf, Grass, Stone, Cloud... even the distant Hidden Mist had managed to plant eyes within the village.

Of course, infiltrating as a ninja was impossible. To Shisui's insect colony, individuals with high concentrations of chakra were not threats, but premium, high-energy delicacies.

No matter how well they suppressed their presence, the biological instinct of the swarm would flag them instantly.

Furthermore, between the village's internal disciplinary screenings, Ryuji Ida's comrcial background checks, and the policy of only allowing local Land of Waterfall businesses to settle, the only ones who made it through were deep-cover sleeper agents embedded in the civilian world for years.

Even then, getting in ant little. These "civilians" faced a final filter: a routine inquiry by Naoto.

During these sessions, pheromones would subtly guide the subjects into a hypnotic sleep-state.

Unless the target was a top-tier powerhouse, they couldn't resist the chemical suggestion. And true powerhouses were detected by the swarm miles before they reached the gates.

Thus, every agent was marked, monitored, and effectively quarantined from the village's core secrets.

On the official opening day of the comrcial district, Naoto stood atop the newly built Longying Elentary School, looking down at the bustle. He turned to Shisui, who was calmly grading student assignnts.

"Why not just eliminate all the spies?" Naoto asked.

"There is a saying: 'Water that is too clear has no fish,'" Shisui replied without looking up. "But I prefer another interpretation.

If a pond has absolutely no fish, one must assu the water is toxic. An intelligent observer will look at a 'perfect' village and realize imdiately that sothing is very wrong."

"So, you want them to transmit false information?"

"Not necessarily. Once you choose to open the village, change is impossible to hide. Your job is to ensure they only know what they are permitted to know."

Naoto remained silent for a long ti. He finally grasped the logic. Takigakure was, in a sense, a grand illusion constructed by Shisui to mislead the world.

He wondered, with a sudden pang of anxiety: If the day cos when the veil is lifted, will this man abandon us? He was startled by the thought, realizing just how much the village—and he himself—had co to depend on Shisui.

With Shisui's strategic planning, Ryuji Ida's rcantile expertise, and Naoto's martial enforcent, the comrcial district reached full occupancy almost imdiately.

Even the young leader, Shibuki Kogan, found his stride. Knowing he lacked talent in ninjutsu, he dedicated himself to civil administration, becoming a diligent and beloved public servant.

He left the defense of the village to those with the strength to handle it. As he grew older, Shibuki began to suspect that the village's smooth developnt wasn't just luck; he wasn't a genius, but he wasn't a fool either.

Ryuji handled the gold, Shibuki handled the people, and Naoto handled the sword. Shisui, anwhile, spent his days in the hive or occasionally sending a shadow clone to teach at the academy, enjoying the purity of young minds.

"This is the ideal life," Shisui mused in the depths of the hive, recalling his clone and absorbing the day's mories.

After two years of labor, he had finally built his own comfort zone. The jarring sense of displacent he felt upon arriving in the ninja world had finally faded.

Most importantly, with his physical limits shattered, he was no longer a "small bug" that could be crushed at a whim. His growing power was the bedrock of his security.

"Even if this place were exposed now," Shisui smiled at his monitors, "it wouldn't be the end of the world."

The irony was instantaneous.

Five miles from the entrance of Takigakure, his swarm sensed a presence of extre danger.

The intruder was suppressing their chakra to the level of an ordinary person, but Shisui's insects didn't asure quantity—they asured quality.

The chakra they sensed possessed a potent, unmistakable characteristic. In the world of high-level shinobi, chakra is an extension of the soul and body; the more one masters their Path, the more distinct their "flavor" becos.

There were many distinct flavors in the world, but only one was this cold, this predatory, and this sinuous.

"Orochimaru..."

Shisui sat upright in his command chair. Though they were miles apart, he knew the Sannin's speed. He had expected this eventually—Danzo's Root had lost too many n here for Konoha to remain indifferent.

He just hadn't expected Danzo to successfully goad Orochimaru into investigating personally. Was it curiosity, or had Danzo offered a price the snake couldn't refuse?

Likely the latter, Shisui thought. Given the tiline, Nawaki is dead. Orochimaru is beginning to feel the fragility of life.

"I shouldn't have opened the champagne so early," Shisui sighed, though he felt no panic.

He had spent years fortifying this position. Even if it ca to a confrontation, he could drown Orochimaru in a sea of insects within the fifty-layered hive. Still, anonymity was his greatest asset. It was better to remain a ghost if possible.

Five miles was a short distance for a master. The mont Orochimaru stepped into Takigakure, he felt a strange sense of dissonance.

The village was small—small enough that his experienced eyes could map its layout in a single glance. Yet it was that very "smallness" that piqued his interest. The streets were pristine, the buildings were new, and the villagers walked with a rare sense of... vitality.

"How remarkably full of life," Orochimaru hissed softly under his breath.

Dressed as a weary traveling rchant with a wide-brimd straw hat obscuring his pale features, he andered through the comrcial street. He appeared as nothing more than a peddler looking for a corner to rest.

However, he didn't get far before a village security patrol approached him for a routine inquiry.

This was a protocol established by Shibuki and the elders. In reality, it was a superficial asure designed to project an image of order, a decoy for the real surveillance happening beneath their feet.

Shibuki, unaware of the deeper layers, took the duty with absolute, earnest sincerity. He approached the "rchant" with a polite but firm smile, unaware that he was standing inches away from one of the most dangerous n alive.
