On the night of the third day of Sarutobi Shinnosuke's captivity, a dark figure silently slipped into his chambers.

The intruder wore the standard uniform of a Kusagakure shinobi, appeared to be in his early thirties, and possessed an entirely unremarkable face. He crept over to the bedside and lightly nudged the sleeping Jōnin.

"My Lord, wake up."

Shinnosuke snapped awake, his instincts screaming at him to draw a weapon, but his hands t empty air.

"Don't be alard, I am on your side," the ninja whispered, keeping his voice incredibly low. "I am an Iwagakure spy embedded here in the Grass Village. I have been ordered to break you out."

Shinnosuke narrowed his eyes, tracking the man's movents. "Iwa?"

"Yes," the spy nodded. "Lord Tsuchikage made it clear—we cannot allow you to remain in the hands of the Grass.

They intend to use you to blackmail Konoha, which serves no one's long-term interests. Follow . I will escort you into the Land of Earth, and from there, arrange safe passage back to Konoha."

Shinnosuke fell into a brief silence. He was no fool; he didn't truly believe Iwa was acting out of pure altruism, but staying here offered no future either.

"My chakra is sealed."

"I am aware." The spy pulled a small glass vial from his cloak. "This is the antidote. The sealing techniques used by the Grass are rudintary at best. Drink this, and your network will completely unbind within half an hour."

Shinnosuke took the vial but didn't drink imdiately. Instead, he asked, "What is your na?"

"I have none," the spy replied with a faint smirk. "In our line of work, nas are a luxury we don't require."

Shinnosuke stared at him for a mont before throwing one last question. "Are you absolutely certain you belong to Iwa?"

The ninja nodded heavily, showing no hesitation. "Beyond a shadow of a doubt."

Shinnosuke asked no further questions. He hesitated for a fleeting second, his mind flashing back to the endless cycle of won who had been pushed into his room over the past few days.

If he stayed here any longer, his body would give out before the seals did. He uncorked the vial and drained the fluid in a single gulp.

Shortly after, the two figures slipped past the compound walls and dissolved into the dark night.

Capitalizing on the Asset

Not long after their departure, two silhouettes materialized on the roof overlooking the empty room: the new Leader, Negishi, and his Chief Strategist, "Shiraki."

"Chief Strategist Shiraki, are we really just going to let him walk away like this?" Negishi asked, watching the distant treeline.

"Three won are already confird to be carrying his seed," Shisui replied smoothly. "That is more than enough leverage for a village of our scale.

Furthermore, a high-value asset like the Hokage's son is only useful when held by a major power capable of playing the grand board. If a small village like the Grass clings to him for too long, it invites total annihilation."

Negishi let out a low laugh, though there was a speculative glint in his eyes. "Shiraki, your foresight is terrifying.

If you weren't dedicating your every effort to backing my rule, I'd begin to suspect you were a master spy sent by soone else to puppet ."

Shisui turned to him, offering a remarkably warm and genuine smile. "How could that be, Lord Leader? I am truly just a sensor ninja who happens to be practical.

If I harbored any treacherous ambitions, I could have easily eliminated you during the chaos and claid the seat for myself, couldn't I?"

Negishi's tension lted, and he laughed heartily. "Fair point!"

"Now that the Hokage's son has been moved off our board," Shisui continued, his tone shifting into sothing more calculated, "we finally have the breathing room to thoroughly clean up Kusagakure."

"Clean up the village?"

Shisui smiled again. "Naturally. I am referring to the swarm of hidden foreign spies nested within our ranks."

Before long, a second purge began beneath the cover of darkness...

The Mirage Shatters

anwhile, the Iwa spy proved to be exceptionally familiar with the surrounding terrain. He guided Shinnosuke along an intricate path, flawlessly bypassing every single patrol and sentry post as they traveled due north.

By dawn, they had cleared the borders of the Land of Grass and crossed into the rugged terrain of the Land of Earth.

Shinnosuke could feel his chakra system sluggishly awakening. The fluid in the vial was working, though the progress was vastly inferior to what the spy had promised.

At this rate, it would take at least another hour before he could mount a proper defense.

"How much further?" Shinnosuke asked, adjusting his stance.

"We are close," the spy pointed toward a jagged ridge ahead. "Just over that mountain is our forward outpost. Once we arrive, you will be safe."

Shinnosuke nodded, maintaining his pace. As they crested the ridge, a secluded valley ca into view, dotted with camouflaged tents and signs of shinobi activity.

Finally, the Iwa spy visibly relaxed, his stride quickening.

Shinnosuke trailed behind him, ntally calculating his next move: the mont his chakra was fully restored, should he turn on his guide and make a break for the border, or play along a bit longer to gather intelligence on Iwa's operations?

Suddenly, the spy stopped dead in his tracks. His entire posture locked up, rigid as a stone statue.

"What is it?" Shinnosuke asked, stepping forward.

Before the words could fully leave his mouth, the spy whipped around. The expression on his face had completely transford—his eyes were bloodshot, wide with an unhinged, violent hatred, as if an internal switch had just been violently flipped.

Without warning, he lunged, plunging a kunai deep into Shinnosuke's torso.

Shinnosuke tried to dodge, but the mont he attempted to channel his newly restored chakra, his entire network violently collapsed, leaving his limbs paralyzed and numb. It wasn't an antidote at all—it was a delayed-release paralytic agent.

How dare he? Why would Iwa throw away their greatest bargaining chip? Shinnosuke thought frantically.

Even during the bloody coup back in the Grass Village, his status as the Hokage's son had guaranteed him safety and luxury. Why would they murder him here?

But he didn't have the ti to unravel the mystery. A second strike drove ruthlessly into his chest.

"Die! Just die!" the spy scread frantically, his face contorted in madness. "Brother! Father! My wife, my child... I've finally avenged you!"

"I... I never killed a woman... let alone a child..." Shinnosuke choked, thick crimson bubbling past his lips. He muttered the words into the wind, his eyes losing focus as he took his final, ragged breath.

The eldest son of the Third Hokage was dead.

"Stop! What are you doing?!" a booming roar echoed from the valley as several Iwa ninjas finally noticed the commotion and sprinted up the slope.

The sheer volu of the shout seed to shock the assassin out of his trance. His manic gaze slowly cleared, sinking back into reality.

He looked down at his trembling, blood-soaked hands, and then at the mangled, unrecognizable corpse resting at his feet.

A wave of absolute horror washed over him. His mories began to fracture. It was true that his father and elder brother had died in the last war—but they had been killed by Agakure ninjas, not Konoha.

More fundantally, he was only eighteen years old. He had never been married. He didn't have a wife, nor did he have a child.

"I... I was under genjutsu!" he shrieked, stumbling backward. "It's a setup! It's all a conspiracy!"

He scread his defense to the heavens, but the approaching Iwa forces were already drawing their weapons, their eyes blazing with fury and panic.

The son of the Hokage had just been slaughtered on their doorstep; no one was going to listen to his excuses. He was the perfect, undeniable scapegoat.

Seeing the murderous intent in his comrades' eyes, the spy began to shake violently. He dropped his bloody kunai, tripped over his own feet, and turned to sprint blindly into the wilderness, tearing off his Iwa headband and hurling it into the dirt.

The Puppet Master's Assessnt

Back in Kusagakure, Shisui sat casually atop a stack of two freshly slain enemy spies, turning a lifeless insect over in his palm.

The creature was entirely grey, sporting two delicate antennae. Its upper thorax resembled a standard beetle, but its lower abdon was bloated, pale, and bulbous.

In terms of color and morphology, it looked like an unnatural hybrid of two entirely different species—which was precisely what it was.

Using the residual viral strains he had harvested previously, Shisui had successfully cross-bred a Stink-Shatter Bug with an Emotion-Manipulation Bug.

The hybrid was entirely sterile, a freak accident born from his laboratory experints.

Its utility was highly situational: it could only override the minds of low-to-mid-tier Chūnin and Genin with weaker spiritual energies, and it was strictly a one-ti-use asset.

Its primary function was to hyper-amplify genjutsu, allowing Shisui to manually rewrite a target's mory and trigger an explosive, uncontrollable surge of specific emotions under a predetermined catalyst.

However, fabricating a believable mory required intricate, manual programming. This had been Shisui's first real-world deploynt of the specin.

As for the final geopolitical fallout, he would have to wait for tomorrow's reports to see just how beautifully his seeds would bloom.
