Kalifa watched the Kuja Pirates with a conflicted expression. Usually, she maintained a calm, stoic deanor—but right now, she was genuinely terrified, especially after that earlier brush with death.
"I seem to have no way out."
Kalifa thought about it. She really had no retreat. If she didn't go and join Shin Uzumaki's Kuja Pirates as an undercover agent, then she only had one way to go—death.
The Five Elders were not good people. Kalifa was still clear about this.
And if she continued working undercover, while she might still die, at least it wasn't a guaranteed death sentence. So with no other options, she had to board Shin Uzumaki's ship.

Kalifa braced herself and walked over, trying her best to remain calm.
Olvia studied Kalifa's appearance, her eyes narrowing slightly. Sothing felt off about this woman. If pressed to explain why, she'd call it intuition. She'd felt the sa way when Momousagi first boarded—that sa gut feeling that sothing wasn't right.
This ti was no different. Olvia's instincts scread that sothing was off about this woman—seriously off.
Kalifa didn't display any obvious tells, but that was exactly the problem. She was too composed, too controlled for soone in her situation. What she didn't realize was that her carefully maintained calm had already raised red flags. She was still too young at this ga.
"You want to join the Kuja Pirates?? Then give a reason."
Shin didn't refuse, studying Kalifa with a calm expression.
He'd already figured out that she was another undercover agent, just like Momousagi. The Five Elders had probably sent her.
In the original story, she'd been planted next to Iceburg to steal the Pluton blueprints. Now her target was likely the Op-Op Fruit.
The Five Elders clearly placed enormous value on that fruit. Shin was genuinely curious about what made it so special to them."
"I... I assaulted a Celestial Dragon. Without proper protection, I'm as good as dead."
Kalifa stated her reason.
"You assaulted a Celestial Dragon? If you've brought that kind of heat on yourself, why would I want you on my ship?"
Shin's calm question made Kalifa's face go rigid. She was at a loss for words.
Could it be that the cri the Five Elders had given her was too great, making it impossible for her to join the Kuja Pirates?
Kalifa's composure cracked instantly. If this mission failed, she was finished. The Five Elders showed no rcy when eliminating failures.

Kalifa lifted herself into the air—demonstrating the power of the Float-Float Fruit. She was confident Shin would recognize its value.
"You ate the Float-Float Fruit?"
A flicker of genuine surprise crossed Shin's face. In the original story, Kalifa hadn't possessed any Devil Fruit powers at this point. She'd only gained abilities later when she encountered Luffy—and even then, it was just the Bubble-Bubble Fruit, a pretty diocre power.
"That's right. It was because of this Float-Float Fruit that I crossed a Celestial Dragon—and now they're hunting ." Kalifa said quickly.
Shin's eyes flashed, then he nodded faintly and said, "Alright, I'll let you join the Kuja Pirates. But don't even think about pulling anything."
The warning in Shin's tone made Kalifa's heart skip a beat. Had she been found out?
What Kalifa didn't realize was that her cover had been blown the mont she approached. Shin simply didn't mind letting her join the crew. Before she'd demonstrated the Float-Float Fruit, he might have dismissed her entirely—but that power changed everything.
The power of the Float-Float Fruit was unquestionable.
More importantly, when he eventually wanted the ship to fly, he wouldn't have to handle it himself. Having a Float-Float Fruit user was perfect.
As for her being a spy? Shin couldn't care less. Undercover agents could be turned—he was confident about that.
Kalifa felt a wave of relief. She'd actually managed to infiltrate the Kuja Pirates. For now, at least, she was safe.

"What's going through your mind right now? Care to share?" Shin's calm voice entered Kalifa's ears, startling her.
Looking at Shin, she couldn't see anything from his face. But Kalifa felt as if she had been seen through.
She couldn't treat them like idiots. She had to be careful—if her cover was blown, she was as good as dead.
Kalifa told herself she was still very young and didn't want to die yet.
"From now on, you'll be learning navigation on this ship. Consider yourself our navigator for the ti being," Shin told Kalifa.
Kalifa looked at Shin, bewildered. Regarding navigation knowledge, she knew nothing at all.
"But Captain, I know nothing about navigation,"
"I said for now. You learn first. If you don't have talent in this area, then learn sothing else. We don't keep idlers on the ship."
Shin glanced at Kalifa and said calmly.
Kalifa nodded without saying a word. She'd follow Shin's orders for now and learn navigation—it would give her sothing to contribute.
Kalifa was taken away to learn knowledge from the navigator on the ship.
Robin walked over to Shin.
"Sothing's off about that woman. Why did you let her on the ship? Is it just because she's beautiful?" Robin's gaze was filled with suspicion.
BAAAAM!
The mont she finished speaking, Shin gently flicked Robin's forehead with his finger.
"Don't talk nonsense here—or I'll teach you so manners." Shin said to Robin.
Robin rubbed her head and shot Shin an annoyed glare.
What made it worse was that he even bullied her. Robin was furious inside, wanting to bite Shin. But she'd never do sothing that would damage her image.
"By the way, Robin, I feel you're not as cute as when you were a child."
Shin reached out and pinched Robin's cheek. He thought she was cuter as a child.
"Even cute kids grow up eventually." Robin held her head high, as if signaling sothing to Shin.
"Tch! Pathetic." Hancock's voice reached Robin's ears.
Robin couldn't help but glance at Hancock. The look in her eyes made it clear—Robin really was nothing special to her.
At least in certain... areas, she couldn't compete with Hancock. And the worst part? Hancock was barely older than her.
Robin kept her expression neutral, but internally she was cursing Hancock to beco flat as a board.
