The village had not recovered.

Not from the war rumors, not from the latest border skirmish reports, and certainly not from the crater field forrly known as Training Ground 7.

Two weeks after the legendary "Kakashi, Gai, and Taiichi Training Incident," the reconstruction team was still filling in holes. The Hokage had personally signed a mo titled "Excessive Youthful Training Will Result in Billing." It was now frad in the mission hall as a warning.

Kakashi was pretending none of it had happened. He sat on the roof of his father's house, mask pulled up, reading Icha Icha Paradise: Revised Edition while the afternoon sun ward his silver hair. Peaceful. Quiet. Normal.

Until a green blur landed beside him with enough force to crack the tiles.

"MY RIVAL!" Gai shouted, teeth sparkling like polished kunai. "Two weeks of recovery have only made our flas burn hotter! Today we resu! One thousand—"

Kakashi didn't even look up. "No."

Gai froze mid-pose. "But… the youth demands it!"

"The youth can demand all it wants. I have a mission briefing in thirty minutes. Go find soone else to drag into your madness."

Gai's eyes narrowed with dramatic intensity. "Soone else? There is no one else worthy of this level of rivalry! Taiichi is busy with dical duties. Obito is training with Rin. Even Jiraiya-sama is off gathering 'research material.' It must be us!"

Kakashi closed his book with a sigh. "Gai. Last ti we trained, the ANBU filed three noise complaints, two structural damage reports, and one concerned letter from the civilian council asking if we were trying to start a new war inside the village."

Gai laughed, loud and unrepentant. "That was rely the warm-up! Today we elevate it to a true festival of youth! I have already prepared the ultimate challenge!"

He pulled out a scroll with the flair of a magician revealing a rabbit. Unrolling it revealed a hand-drawn (and surprisingly detailed) schedule:

THE GREAT KONOHA YOUTH TRAINING FESTIVAL

Participants: Kakashi, Gai, Taiichi (mandatory), Obito, Rin, Team 8

Events: 5000 laps with weights, 3000 push-ups while reciting the Will of Fire, Ultimate Taijutsu Spar, Barbecue Endurance Test, and Secret Final Event

Prize for Winner: Bragging Rights Free Ran for Life from Ichiraku

Loser: Must wear a green spandex suit for one week

Kakashi stared at the scroll like it had personally offended his ancestors. "You already wrote Taiichi's na down. He's going to kill you."

"Taiichi is a man of honor! He will not refuse a challenge that strengthens the bonds of youth!"

At that exact mont, Taiichi was walking past the house on his way to the hospital for a part-ti shift. He heard Gai's booming voice and froze.

"No," he muttered to himself. "I'm not getting involved again. Last ti I ended up paying for the ran and explaining to the Hokage why there was a new lake where a training ground used to be."

He tried to sneak away.

Too late.

"TAIICHI!" Gai leaped from the roof, landing in front of him with perfect form. "My comrade in flas! You have been summoned by the call of youth!"

Taiichi pinched the bridge of his nose. "Gai. I have actual work. People need healing. I can't spend the day turning the village into a demolition site."

Gai's eyes sparkled with tears of passion. "But think of the growth! Think of the bonds! Think of the legendary training that will be spoken of for generations!"

Kakashi dropped down beside them, looking resigned. "He already wrote your na on the schedule. There's a barbecue endurance test. You're listed as the official judge and participant."

Taiichi read the scroll. His eye twitched at the line: "Taiichi will provide the flas for the ultimate barbecue while dodging attacks."

"I'm going to burn this scroll," he said calmly. "And possibly Gai."

Gai grinned wider. "That is the spirit!"

---

By 10 AM the "festival" had officially begun.

Obito and Rin had been dragged in by Gai's enthusiasm (Obito because he refused to let Kakashi have all the glory, Rin because she couldn't stop Obito from doing sothing stupid).

Yohei and Saori arrived shortly after, having heard the commotion from across the village.

Yohei's eyes lit up when he saw the schedule. "A training festival? Count in! I'll show you all my new fire jutsu!"

Saori looked at the list, then at Taiichi. "You're really doing this?"

"I was blackmailed with free ran and the threat of Gai crying if I refused," Taiichi deadpanned. "Also, the Panel gave a hidden quest. Sothing about 'strengthening team bonds through suffering.'"

Saori sighed but smiled. "Then let's make sure no one dies."

The first event: 5000 laps around the village outer wall, wearing weighted vests.

Gai set the pace, of course. He started at full sprint, shouting motivational speeches the entire ti. Kakashi used shadow clones to run efficiently. Taiichi kept a steady pace, conserving energy. Obito tried to keep up with Gai and imdiately regretted it.

By lap 1,200, Obito was on the ground declaring his legs had filed for divorce.

By lap 3,000, the civilian population had started placing bets.

By lap 4,500, the Hokage Tower received a formal complaint from the rchant district about "earthquakes caused by green idiots running too fast."

Taiichi, who had been using subtle wind chakra to lighten his steps, finally snapped when Gai suggested adding handstand laps for the last 500.

"Enough," he said, voice calm but terrifying. "We're doing this the smart way."

He created a dozen shadow clones. Each clone took a teammate and used gentle wind manipulation to reduce the effective weight of the vests.

The final 500 laps were completed in record ti. Gai cried tears of joy. "This is true teamwork! Our youth has evolved!"

Kakashi looked at Taiichi. "You're enabling him."

"I'm preventing property damage," Taiichi replied. "There's a difference."

---

The second event was the 3000 push-ups while reciting the Will of Fire.

Gai led the chant. His voice echoed across the training ground like a war drum.

"'The Will of Fire burns in every heart—' One! 'Protecting our comrades is our sacred duty—' Two!"

Obito was already struggling at 400. Rin was helping him count. Yohei was trying to show off by doing one-ard push-ups and reciting faster than Gai. Saori was quietly keeping perfect form, looking serene despite the sweat.

Kakashi was doing them with one finger, looking bored.

Taiichi was… not doing push-ups.

He was sitting cross-legged on a rock, eyes closed, ditating.

Gai noticed imdiately. "Taiichi! You must join the chant! Your youth is missing!"

"My youth is resting," Taiichi said without opening his eyes. "I'm recovering chakra so I don't pass out during the spar later. Also, the Panel says this counts as 'ntal training.'"

The Panel, of course, was not actually saying anything. But Taiichi had learned that claiming the Panel approved things usually stopped argunts.

Gai accepted this explanation with a solemn nod. "Even in rest, you train the spirit! Truly admirable!"

Kakashi muttered, "He's just avoiding the chant because he hates public speaking."

Taiichi didn't deny it.

By the ti the push-ups ended, the ground had been pressed into a perfect grid of handprints. The ANBU observation team had given up and gone ho.

---

The barbecue endurance test was supposed to be the fun part.

Taiichi was put in charge of the flas. He created a controlled ring of golden fire that cooked the at perfectly while the others tried to eat as much as possible without burning their mouths.

Gai declared it a contest of willpower. "The one who eats the most without complaining wins eternal glory!"

Obito lasted six skewers before tapping out, tears in his eyes from the heat.

Rin made it to nine, then politely excused herself to get water.

Saori reached twelve, looking slightly green but determined.

Yohei hit fifteen and started bragging. "This is nothing! I once ate an entire—"

He stopped when Taiichi raised an eyebrow.

Kakashi, to everyone's surprise, kept going. He ate thodically, mask slightly lowered, expression unreadable. At twenty-five skewers he finally stopped.

"Enough," he said. "I have dignity."

Gai was on his thirty-second skewer, face red, eyes watering, but refusing to quit. "Youth… does not… yield… to spice!"

Taiichi, who had been maintaining the fire the entire ti, finally spoke. "Gai. You're going to give yourself heartburn. Stop."

"Never!" Gai took another bite. "This is the trial of the fla! I will conquer it!"

Thirty seconds later Gai was on the ground, clutching his stomach, declaring that the flas of youth had temporarily betrayed him.

Taiichi extinguished the fire and handed out cooling dicine. "Next ti, maybe don't turn eating into a competition with literal fire."

Gai gave a weak thumbs-up from the dirt. "Still… worth it…"

---

The secret final event was the one that broke the village.

Gai had planned it in secret: a full-team taijutsu tournant in the largest available training ground, with "youth multipliers" (weights, blindfolds, and random jutsu restrictions).

What started as a friendly spar turned into a village-wide spectacle when Obito accidentally set off a firework tag during a dramatic entrance.

The explosion drew a crowd. Then more people joined. Then the Academy students showed up. Then so off-duty Jonin decided it looked fun.

By the ti the sun began to set, half the village was either participating or watching.

Taiichi found himself in the center of a three-way battle against Kakashi and Gai while Yohei and Saori fought nearby. The ground shook. Fire and lightning clashed. Gai opened the third gate and beca a green tornado.

Kakashi used Chidori and shadow clones to create a maze of silver lightning.

Taiichi responded by activating partial Pyrofication on his arms and sword, turning the battlefield into a golden inferno that forced everyone to adapt or burn.

The crowd cheered like it was the Chunin Exams.

The Hokage, watching from his office via crystal ball, rubbed his temples. "How did a simple training session turn into this?"

Danzo, standing beside him, looked almost impressed. "At least they're not destroying anything important this ti."

A massive explosion rocked the crystal ball as Gai and Taiichi's techniques collided.

Danzo sighed. "Never mind."

---

When the dust finally settled, the training ground was gone. Again.

The village cleanup crew arrived with resigned expressions. The Hokage issued another mo. The rchant district sent a bill for "emotional distress caused by loud explosions."

Gai stood in the center of the wreckage, tears streaming down his face.

"This… was the greatest day of youth I have ever experienced! My rivals! My comrades! We have grown beyond asure!"

Kakashi, covered in dirt and scorch marks, gave a tired smile. "Yeah. Sure. Next ti I'm sleeping through the whole thing."

Taiichi, leaning on his sword, laughed despite the exhaustion. "I think the village is going to ban us from training together."

Saori, who had sohow remained relatively clean, offered him a hand. "At least we're stronger now."

Yohei, lying on the ground with stars in his eyes, whispered, "Best. Day. Ever."

Obito and Rin were already planning the next "festival."

Jiji, perched on a ruined boulder wearing a tiny Konoha headband, squawked proudly. "Jiji trained too! Jiji is now a warrior bird!"

Taiichi looked at the destruction, the exhausted but happy faces, the crowd still cheering in the distance, and felt sothing warm settle in his chest.

This was his village. These were his people.

Even if they were all completely insane.

As the sun set, the group limped toward Ichiraku Ran once again. This ti the entire bill was on Gai (he had lost the barbecue contest).

Taiichi walked beside Saori, who was quietly smiling.

"You know," she said softly, "even when it's chaotic… it's nice."

"Yeah," Taiichi agreed. "It really is."

Behind them, Gai and Kakashi were already arguing about the next training date.

"Next week! Double the events!"

"No."

"Triple!"

"Absolutely not."

Taiichi chuckled and looked up at the orange sky.

The Panel, which had been suspiciously quiet all day, finally pinged.

> [Hidden Quest Complete: "Survive the Youth Training Festival"]

> [Reward: 10 Attribute Points (distributed automatically)]

> [Bonus: All participants gained 1 permanent bond level with each other.]

> [Note: The village is now 17% more used to your nonsense. Progress!]

Taiichi smiled.

Tomorrow, he would train even harder.

But for tonight, he would enjoy the ran, the company, and the quiet knowledge that no matter how overpowered he beca, there would always be people like Gai and Kakashi to keep him grounded.

Or, more accurately, to drag him into even greater chaos.

And he wouldn't have it any other way.
