Ao cut him off sharply. "Your master never intended to kill you. He only wanted to separate you from the Tailed Beast—to free you from the curse of being a Jinchūriki!"
Utakata froze. "Impossible…"
He wanted to retort that such a thing couldn't be done. Yet here he was—alive and well—even after losing the Six-Tails.

"A missing-nin," Shigure said. "One of our own."

Shigure could tell her hesitation wasn't out of personal disapproval—it was the village's deeply ingrained hostility toward deserters. Among the Five Great Ninja Villages, none were stricter about missing-nin than the Hidden Mist.
He sighed softly.
"Isn't capturing the Three-Tails enough to atone for his past cris?"
Atone for sins?
That concept was almost unheard of. What missing-nin had ever tried to earn redemption through service to the village?
Seeing her silence, Shigure smiled faintly. "Judging from your reaction… it ans this idea can be tried."
i didn't answer right away. She didn't approve, but she didn't reject it either. That was enough.
"At worst," Shigure continued, "we can let him live under supervision. Give him punishnt later if necessary. But the village could use another strong hand."
i sighed. "Earning the village's trust after desertion is harder than you think. You might even be rejected yourself for supporting him."
Shigure smiled as he turned toward the office door.
"As a Jinchūriki of two Tailed Beasts, being rejected is nothing new."
He paused at the doorway, glancing back. "When soone becos strong enough, fear replaces hatred. And fear… becos awe."
With that, Shigure left the Mizukage's office.
Outside, the wind carried the scent of salt and sea.
Far above the ocean, from the direction of Konohagakure, a ssenger eagle soared swiftly toward the Hidden Mist Village…
