The mont Yagami arrived at Konoha's position, the entire defensive line erupted.
Cheers burst out from every direction. The Konoha shinobi stationed there looked at him with barely hidden excitent and admiration, as if they were welcoming so famous idol back from a stage.
For a second, Yagami almost felt like he was seeing fans from his previous life crowding around an airport.
Their eyes were so bright that they might as well have shoved their faces in front of him and asked for an autograph.
"You've all worked hard holding the line."
Yagami raised a hand and gave them a calm, proper wave.
That simple response made the surrounding Konoha shinobi cheer even louder.
Most of them were not personally familiar with Yagami, but that did not matter.
This was the man who had crushed two jinchūriki head-on.
That alone was enough.
"All right, since all of you seem to know who I am, I'll skip the introduction."
Yagami lifted his hand slightly, and the noise around him gradually settled.
"I'm the commander of the support force sent by the village. From this mont on, I'll be taking full command of this battlefield."
His voice was not loud, but it carried clearly across the formation.
Since the village had appointed him as commander-in-chief, Yagami had no intention of being modest about it.
If soone could stand above others and give orders, who would willingly remain below and simply follow them?
Anyone with ambition would naturally climb higher.
"Lord Yagami!"
Mimura Hamaki quickly stepped forward.
He had still been wondering how he should address Yagami properly, but after hearing that Yagami had been officially appointed as the commander of the battlefield, there was no longer any hesitation.
His attitude imdiately beca respectful.
"Hamaki-senpai, right?"
Yagami looked at the man and recognized him.
Mimura Hamaki was not especially famous in the original Naruto story. At most, he was the kind of character who would pass by in the background.
But even so, he was still an elite jōnin who had survived the Second Shinobi World War.
Inside Konoha, he was not so unknown nobody.
"No need for that," Hamaki said with a short wave of his hand, a faint smile on his face. "Just call Hamaki."
Then his expression shifted slightly.
"By the way, Lord Yagami… did the support force not co with you?"
"They did."
Yagami smiled.
"But once I sensed that your side was in danger, I moved ahead of them to provide support first."
"They ca with you?"
Hamaki turned his head and looked toward Konoha's direction, his expression growing even more puzzled.
Before this, he had already asked the sensing-type ninja to check the area, but the report had clearly said there was no sign of any support force approaching from the village.
Yagami noticed his reaction imdiately.
"We didn't co from the village's direction."
He looked toward the distance and said calmly, "We ca directly from the Sunagakure battlefield, passing through the Land of Rain on the way."
Then, without making the explanation too long, Yagami briefly told them that Sunagakure had already been defeated and forced to sign a surrender agreent.
There was no need to explain every detail of the process here.
"What?!"
"Sunagakure… was defeated?"
The Konoha shinobi around him could no longer stay quiet.
They had all left Konoha around the sa ti.
This war had not even lasted half a month.
And Sunagakure had already fallen?
Wasn't that far too fast?
"Yes."
Yagami nodded.
"Sunagakure has already signed the defeat treaty."
The surrounding shinobi fell into stunned silence.
They looked at one another, still unable to fully accept what they had just heard.
Yagami did not look like he was joking.
But even so, this was unbelievable.
Barely over ten days after the war began, one of the Five Great Shinobi Villages had already been forced to admit defeat.
Nothing like this had happened since the founding of the villages.
"The support force is here."
While everyone was still dazed, Yagami suddenly spoke.
The others followed his gaze.
In the distance, countless small black figures appeared along the right side of the battlefield, moving quickly across the horizon.
The sound of footsteps grew louder and louder.
Before long, the support force from the Sunagakure battlefield reached Konoha's camp.
"Lord Yagami!"
"Lord Yagami!"
After arriving, the jōnin leading the formation quickly gathered around him, with Nara Shikaku at the front.
A few kiloters back, when they had seen the mushroom cloud rising into the sky, they had all thought Yagami had encountered a powerful enemy.
After all, that explosion had been split between golden flas and orange flas.
They naturally recognized the golden flas as Yagami's power.
The orange flas had clearly belonged to the enemy.
So it was only natural for them to assu that Yagami had run into soone capable of fighting him evenly.
For a while, they had all been worried.
Now, seeing Yagami standing there completely unhard, everyone finally relaxed.
"Did anything happen on the way?"
Yagami first glanced at Kushina, then turned his eyes toward Shikaku.
"No. The route was clear," Shikaku answered seriously. "There were no accidents."
Yagami had entrusted the entire support force to him, so Shikaku had been extrely careful the whole way.
"Good."
Yagami nodded.
"Set up camp first. The current trenches won't be able to hold this many people."
"Yes!"
The jōnin of the support force imdiately accepted the order and withdrew to organize the camp.
Only Kushina and the original jōnin stationed at this front remained.
Yagami turned toward them.
"You all go as well. Once the camp is ready, we'll hold a frontline eting."
"Yes."
Mimura Hamaki and the others imdiately straightened, their expressions becoming serious.
"Then we'll clean up the battlefield first."
The earlier excitent faded.
The mont orders were given, every jōnin returned to their role.
That was how Konoha shinobi were.
