The light of Dust Release.
Kyoshin's pupils contracted, the three tomoe within his Sharingan spinning rapidly.
He could see that inside the faint white light, the three chakra attributes had completely disappeared, replaced by an entirely new and pure form of energy.
It was neither hot nor cold, neither sharp nor heavy, yet wherever it passed, even the air twisted slightly, as if space itself were being broken down.
This was the power of a Kekkei Tota.
Kyoshin maintained the state.
One second, two seconds, three seconds…
The white light remained stable for five seconds before finally dispersing.
'Did this count as success?'
Even though it had only lasted five seconds. Even though it was only the size of a fingernail. Even though it was still far from becoming a true Dust Release ninjutsu.
He had still touched that realm.
"Hehe… hahaha… hahahahaha!"
An old yet emotional laugh rang out from the edge of the training grounds.
Kyoshin turned his head and saw Onoki floating there. No one knew how long he had been watching. Behind him stood the tall Akatsuchi.
The old Tsuchikage's face was covered in tears.
"Did you see that, Akatsuchi?! Dust Release… the true light of Dust Release…"
He descended from the air and staggered over to Kyoshin, crouching down as he stared fixedly at Kyoshin's hands, as though traces of that white light still lingered there.
"Two months…" Onoki muttered. "From the day you started training Dust Release until now, it only took two months."
"And I spent five years. A full five years just to reach the level you achieved monts ago."
"Tsuchikage-sama." Kyoshin stood up. "This is only the beginning. I still have a long way to go before mastering true Dust Release techniques."
"I know, I know…" Onoki nodded hard as he wiped the tears from his face. "Next, you need to continue stabilizing this state, extend the duration, expand the scale, and then learn the actual jutsu structures…"
"Atomic Dismantling Jutsu, Boundary Dismantling Jutsu… there's too much. Too much to learn…"
———
One month later, Kyoshin completely mastered Dust Release.
Although he still hadn't used it in real combat, it gave him an enormous sense of security.
After that, his training entered a much smoother phase.
Every day, he could create fifty shadow clones for training.
Half of them focused on chakra extraction.
The other half worked on covering Kyoshin's current weaknesses.
The Clone Technique, Substitution Technique, and Body Flicker Technique also beca increasingly refined.
As for the basic and advanced ninjutsu of wind, fire, and earth chakra natures...
with chakra control so precise it bordered on perfection, training these techniques progressed absurdly smoothly.
Besides that, there were also Onoki's Light-Weight Rock Technique and Added-Weight Rock Technique.
There were no sudden breakthroughs, no monts of enlightennt.
Only steady, natural progress, like a gentle stream gradually accumulating into towering heights little by little.
Most importantly, there was the training related to the Sharingan.
The Sharingan was unlike ordinary ninjutsu. It was a Kekkei Genkai, and unlike bodily-type bloodline limits ford through the overlapping of two chakra nature transformations.
For Sharingan training, chakra could only serve as a "foundation." What truly affected the training progress was a person's spiritual energy.
And as for how to improve the Sharingan's ocular power, Kyoshin currently only had one thod... having his shadow clones cast genjutsu on the original body…
The strain this placed on spiritual energy was imnse.
To the point that Kyoshin looked listless every day, practically developing Kakashi's dead-fish-eye condition.
———
Another half year passed.
After Kyoshin had filled in his weaknesses, he began seeking the upper limits of practical combat strength.
The Sharingan couldn't be rushed, so he could only improve through other ans.
And right now, there happened to be a very suitable direction for training within Iwagakure.
As usual, Kyoshin created shadow clones and had them continue chakra extraction training.
His original body, anwhile, headed for Iwagakure's research departnt.
The departnt was located in the southwestern corner of Iwagakure, inside an independent two-story stone building.
The exterior looked plain and unremarkable. A simple wooden sign hung at the entrance with the words Research Departnt written on it.
Kyoshin went directly to the second floor.
The mont he stepped inside, he could feel how different this place was.
The walls were covered in various sealing formulas. Faint chakra fluctuations filled the air. The bookshelves were piled high with ancient scrolls and docunts. The entire space was wrapped in a solemn and mysterious atmosphere.
When Kyoshin entered the research division, Chinatsu was organizing a newly arrived batch of scrolls.
She wore the standard uniform of the research division, a dark blue robe with sealing symbols embroidered along the sleeves.
Her red hair was tied into a simple bun behind her head, with a few loose strands hanging by her cheeks, softening her appearance slightly.
When she saw Kyoshin, she put down the scroll in her hands and revealed a gentle smile.
"Lord Kintsuchi, you're here.", Chinatsu walked over and bowed slightly.
"Karin said you wanted to study sealing techniques, so I've already prepared the materials."
"Just call Kintsuchi," Kyoshin said, then glanced around the room. "This place is more professional than I imagined."
Chinatsu smiled lightly. "The Tsuchikage places great importance on sealing techniques, so he's invested a lot of resources into them."
"And Iwagakure already had a certain foundation in sealing arts to begin with. Combined with the knowledge and materials I brought from the Uzumaki Clan, the research has progressed faster than expected."
She led Kyoshin into a private research room.
The room wasn't large, but it was neat and orderly. In the center stood a long table covered with several ancient scrolls, while brushes, ink, and specially made chakra paper rested nearby.
Several structural diagrams of sealing formulas hung on the walls. Their lines were intricate and elegant, resembling so kind of mysterious artwork.
"Please, sit," Chinatsu said before taking a seat across from Kyoshin.
"Before we begin, I'd like to ask sothing first. Why do you want to study sealing techniques?"
"With your strength and talent, shouldn't you be focusing more on combat ninjutsu?"
Kyoshin answered honestly, "What I have right now is enough for the ti being. I'm here to make up for my weaknesses."
"Mmm…" Chinatsu handed the organized materials over to Kyoshin. "I'm sorry. This is all I can provide."
"These are only the theoretical concepts I rember, and they're not especially advanced."
She had been born in the Land of Whirlpools, back when the Uzumaki Clan had not yet suffered disaster.
As one of the younger mbers of the clan, Chinatsu had naturally learned the relevant knowledge.
However, while her theoretical understanding was decent enough, her practical ability was practically nonexistent.
Otherwise, she wouldn't have been completely helpless that night, nor would she have ended up fleeing with Karin and becoming trapped in the Land of Grass.
The mont she thought of that, her expression dimd slightly.
Kyoshin put away the materials and said, "Without Aunt Chinatsu, the village's related technologies might never have advanced this far."
"The past has already beco history. Being able to watch your child grow up safely is a kind of happiness too."
Chinatsu brushed a strand of hair behind her ear and smiled.
"Thank you for the comfort, Lord Kintsuchi. I'm already very satisfied with my life now."
"Mm…"
After thinking for a mont, she spoke again, "Although I only possess part of the knowledge, I do know where the clan's records might be now."
