The Hidden Stone Village's lineup this ti could only be described as luxurious.
Onoki, Kitsuchi, Akatsuchi.
The participants in the Chunin Exams were Kyoshin, Deidara, Kurotsuchi, and Karin.
In addition, there was an Anbu squad composed of three elite jonin.
Konoha looked almost exactly the sa as when Kyoshin had left it.
Still as prosperous and lively as ever.
The group was arranged into an inn. After giving Kyoshin a few instructions, Onoki took Kitsuchi with him and headed to the Hokage Building to et Hiruzen Sarutobi.
Kurotsuchi looked out at the bustling streets beyond the window and stretched lazily.
"This exam feels pretty huge~"
There were many forces participating in this Chunin Exam. Konoha, the Hidden Sand, the Hidden Stone.
And plenty of other villages too.
Experts from every direction had gathered here. Who knew what kinds of monsters they might run into.
But...
The mont she thought of Kyoshin, Kurotsuchi couldn't help feeling excited.
No matter how strong a genin was, there was absolutely no chance of defeating Kyoshin.
She could practically already picture him crushing everyone in his path.
Kurotsuchi left her room and knocked on Kyoshin's door.
"Co in."
"As expected, you're just staying inside." She walked in with a grin. "You haven't been back for so long, aren't you going out to look around?"
"Because this place isn't exactly safe."
Kyoshin held a cloth in one hand, carefully wiping down a ninja blade, seemingly deep in thought.
This inn was specifically used by Konoha to host foreign guests. Among the participants in this Chunin Exam, there happened to be a lunatic who killed people at the slightest provocation.
If that person truly lost control, even elite jonin might not be able to stop him.
In truth, Kyoshin was worried about Deidara's personality and wanted to prevent him from provoking Gaara.
If Kyoshin was not present when that happened, then Deidara, Kurotsuchi, Karin, and Kumiko would all be in danger.
That was also why Kyoshin wasn't going out, because he could still sense that dangerous chakra source inside the inn.
"Hah~" Kurotsuchi walked over with a teasing smile. "Kintsuchi really is gentle, huh~ If I hadn't asked, were you just planning to silently protect us the whole ti?"
Kyoshin, "..."
"Co on, co on~ Let's go out and take a look around." Kurotsuchi grabbed his arm. "I'm curious what Konoha's like too."
Kyoshin let out a sigh, stood up, and picked up the mask resting on the table.
"Call Deidara and Karin."
A few minutes later, the group gathered in the hallway.
Then they happened to run into another genin team that was also preparing to "wander around." Judging from their clothing, they were probably from the Hidden Sand Village.
"There are so many handso guys in Konoha~" The girl with four buns tied at the back of her head excitedly looked around. "Unlike our village's..."
Then she glanced at Kankuro beside her.
"..." Kankuro's mouth twitched. "Don't forget our mission."
This outing was supposed to be an opportunity to gather intelligence on Konoha's terrain.
Temari seed to completely ignore him, her tone carrying a hint of impatience.
"Why isn't Gaara coming out yet?"
"I told you already." A gloomy voice ca from behind them. "Don't talk about behind my back."
Kankuro gave Temari a look, and she awkwardly smiled.
"Anyway, let's start the mission now."
The three of them walked together out of the inn, but only Temari and Kankuro remained.
"Huh? Where's Gaara?"
Kankuro turned around, and his pupils instantly contracted.
Gaara was leaning against the hallway wall, his expression twisted in agony, as though he had reached the limit of his endurance.
anwhile, Kyoshin's group happened to be passing by in front of him.
"Hey?!" Kankuro frowned. "What did you people do to Gaara?"
Faced with the baseless accusation, Kurotsuchi looked stunned.
"Hah? Why are you framing us? You looking for a fight?"
Relations between the Hidden Stone and Konoha weren't very good.
Relations between the Hidden Sand and the Hidden Stone weren't much better.
When the two sides t, a fight could break out over a single disagreent.
Kankuro's expression darkened as he placed a hand on the Crow puppet strapped to his back.
Fortunately, Temari was still fairly calm and imdiately stepped between both sides.
"Please don't mind him. He's always reckless."
Without even waiting for a response, she quickly walked over to Gaara and lowered her voice.
"Gaara... Gaara?"
Gaara's eyes seed unfocused.
Temari grew anxious. "What's wrong with you?"
Kankuro hurried over as well, imdiately feeling that sothing was terribly wrong.
If Gaara lost control here, then their entire plan would already be half ruined.
However, what neither Temari nor Kankuro expected was that Gaara's breathing suddenly beca extrely steady.
"So this is..."
"Sleepiness?"
Gaara's eyelids gradually grew heavy. The shrill screams of Shukaku in his ears vanished completely. Supporting himself against the hallway wall, his gaze landed on Kyoshin's retreating figure.
Kankuro swallowed hard and followed Gaara's line of sight, a trace of relief rising in his heart.
Both of them knew why Gaara could never sleep.
Now that he felt sleepy, that could only an Shukaku had cald down.
And why had it cald down?
Was it connected to that masked genin?
Good thing they hadn't actually fought just now...
A bead of cold sweat slid down Kankuro's forehead.
"I'm going to sleep." Gaara's voice was calr and more rational than it had ever been before. "Don't disturb ."
He turned and walked deeper into the inn.

[Night Ti]
Tsuchikage Onoki, the elite jonin Anbu squad mbers Kumiko, Nobumoto, and Chisato, along with Kyoshin, gathered together.
"Hiruzen Sarutobi has already revealed the exam format." Onoki took out a docunt and pushed it toward Kyoshin, then shifted his gaze toward Kumiko.
While Kyoshin picked up the docunt and began reading...
Kumiko spoke with so helplessness in his tone.
"Konoha has too many experts. I only managed to locate the general area. It should be underground, and the entrance is either at the Hokage Monunt or directly inside the Hokage Building itself. Getting there won't be easy."
After flipping through the Chunin Exam procedures, which were mostly the sa as in the original story, Kyoshin said, "Knowing this much intelligence is already enough. Thank you for your hard work, Senior Kumiko."
Nobumoto continued, "Next is strength estimation."
"Root leader Shimura Danzo is an old-generation Kage-level powerhouse. Wind Release chakra nature. Under him are at least two elite jonin, though the total number is unknown."
"But the troubleso part is the Anbu."
"Whether it's scale or the number of experts, Konoha's Anbu is basically a massively upgraded version of Root."
After hearing that, Onoki sneered, "I really don't know what that old fool Hiruzen is thinking. A man once called the Hero of Shinobi, yet he couldn't suppress Root, leading to the tragedy back then."
"Kintsuchi, when the ti cos, the Hokage and the Anbu will be tied down by the Hidden Sand and Hidden Sound."
"Old man here, together with Kitsuchi and Akatsuchi, will respond to Konoha's request for aid. Nobumoto, Kumiko, and Chisato will cooperate with your operation."
"This is your first ti facing a Kage-level opponent. I'm very confident in your strength, but I still need to remind you of one thing."
"No matter what happens, stay calm. Revenge is secondary. Your safety cos first."
Kyoshin replied seriously, "Teacher, I understand."
Onoki nodded.
"Chisato, remove the barrier concealnt. There won't be any action for a while. For now, we'll just watch Kintsuchi put on a show like normal."
