Naruto: Reborn as Uchiha Obito Chapter 4 4: The Father of All Black Things

As Obito's voice faded, the surface of the Devouring Coffin began to glow.

Thick, interweaving purple lines laced across its dark shell, glowing like cursed tattoos.

A pulsating purple-red aura wrapped around it like a heartbeat, signaling the beginning of sothing awful.

Inside it...the absorption began.

"AAHHHHHHH!!!"

Black Zetsu's screams rang out like hell's fire alarms, echoing through the underground cavern in every direction.

The sound was desperate. Screeching. Furious.

But it didn't last long.

A few seconds later...

The parasite that had plagued the ninja world for over a thousand years, the "will" of Kaguya Ōtsutsuki herself, was simply…

Gone.

Obliterated from existence.

No reincarnation.

No resurrection.

No "just as planned."

Deleted.

Black Zetsu was made from pure Yin-Yang chakra, fused with Kaguya's will, nearly impossible to destroy by conventional ans…

But this was no conventional ans.

Obito had found the perfect way to deal with him.

And now?

There was no Black Zetsu. Forever.

Obito exhaled slowly, lowering his hand from the surface of the Devouring Coffin.

He wouldn't lie...he'd been nervous as hell. If that cockroach managed to slip away, it would've caused problems on a universal scale.

But his plan worked. Zetsu dropped his guard, and that was all it took.

Still, the energy cost was brutal. Using the Devouring Coffin wasn't free...it drained him hard. Even that short activation had nearly bled him dry.

"Tch… I'm still way too weak right now."

But that would change.

He turned, eye narrowing at the army of White Zetsus nearby, all of whom had watched the execution silently.

"Alright. Your turn."

"You got two choices. Try to avenge that freak… or submit to . Obey my orders."

The Zetsus looked at each other. Then back at him. Then back at each other again.

Awkward silence.

Then finally...

"Well… Madara-sama and that guy are gone, so I guess we're following Obito now."

"Yeah, he controls the Outer Path and everything. We can't resist anyway."

"Sounds good. Let's not die."

One by one, the Zetsus nodded.

And if they hadn't?

Obito would've used the Demonic Statue of the Outer Path to erase them from the world and spawned fresh ones like flipping a chakra switch.

Lucky for them… they were entertaining. And obedient.

"That's good," Obito said, waving a hand. "Call Obi...nah. Just call Tobi from now on."

At that, a one-eyed White Zetsu with a swirled face ca bouncing up to his side.

"Now, Obito, are you going to poop? Can you tell what poop ans?"

"…"

Obito's face twitched.

'Why is this one the way that it is?'

"Anyway… the na Uchiha Obito isn't useful anymore. From now on, when there are outsiders, refer to as Madara-sama."

He turned and walked over to Madara's dried-up corpse.

Ti for phase two.

He reached out, summoned the Devouring Coffin again, and opened it beside the body.

Madara's corpse was sucked inside. The coffin glowed once more. Energy surged.

Then...

It reopened.

Inside were two items, each no bigger than a peanut.

One black.

One white.

Obito picked them up, inspecting them with interest.

Experint successful.

This ti, he hadn't fully devoured Madara. He'd tested a partial breakdown, wanted to see if he could separate and store energy components.

He could.

With a smirk, he tossed the rest of Madara's body back into the coffin and let it finish the job.

Zzzrrmm…

The coffin's purple-red lines lit up one last ti before it shrunk down and fused seamlessly into Obito's body.

Like it was always part of him.

"The coffin can absorb natural energy on its own," he murmured. "But it's slow. Gotta be smarter about when and how I use it."

He turned to the curious Zetsus who'd gathered around like children waiting for story ti.

"You...go keep an eye on Nagato."

"I've got so stuff to take care of first. I'll deal with him later."
