"Let’s go, ti to head back and rest."

The two teams were a little dissatisfied with being turned away, but there was nothing they could do since the matter was being handled by the Anbu, which the police force had no authority to interfere with. Kazuki, however, didn’t have much of an opinion.

Not getting involved was a good thing—it ant the Uchiha wouldn’t get dragged into a ss.

The fact that the enemy had infiltrated the village unnoticed and launched an attack on the Anbu’s main base was proof enough that their numbers and strength were considerable.

Given that, why should the police force stir up trouble?

It was better to wait for news and watch from the sidelines.

Otherwise, if the aftermath of the battle caused too much destruction, the police force might end up taking the bla.

Having been thoroughly embarrassed, the Anbu quickly mobilized, surrounding the enemies fleeing in all directions, capturing or killing them on the spot.

Fires erupted continuously into the dark night sky, accompanied by the sound of explosions, waking the slumbering Konoha.

Hearing of such a major incident, Fugaku, who had been sleeping at ho with his wife, rushed over after being notified.

"Is the situation serious?"

"Pretty much."

Having gone a sleepless night, Kazuki stretched lazily and replied:

"There were quite a few enemies, and they were strong. Not only did they attack the Anbu’s main base, but they scattered and fled afterward, and the fighting lasted for a long ti. The damage caused should be considerable. But it’s too far away, so I can’t observe the specifics."

"You’ve worked hard. Go get so rest."

Kazuki had led his people over to help as soon as possible, but the Anbu didn’t need the police force’s assistance. The police force had already done what it needed to do.

In this situation, if there was bla to be assigned, the Anbu couldn’t pin it on the police force.

"Alright."

With Fugaku now in charge of the police force, Kazuki decisively withdrew and went ho to rest.

A line of corpses was laid out in the Hokage’s office. Although the enemies had disguised themselves, their dark skin, tall stature, and muscular build clearly revealed their origin.

The Village Hidden in the Clouds!!!

Due to its unique geographical environnt, people from the Village Hidden in the Clouds were taller than those from other countries. Combined with the effects of their environnt, their skin was darker, and they were skilled in taijutsu and lightning release, all of which made them muscular.

These features were enough to confirm the enemies were from the Village Hidden in the Clouds.

"Send the bodies to the Intelligence Departnt. Have the Yamanaka clan extract any information and secrets from them."

Even the corpses of ninjas could be highly valuable.

"I want to know how so many enemies infiltrated the village, and how the Anbu failed to detect them—letting them get all the way to the main base and launch an attack!!!"

The Village Hidden in the Clouds, again!!!

It was almost laughable. This wasn’t the first or second ti that people from the Village Hidden in the Clouds had infiltrated Konoha, and each ti, they had succeeded.

Sneaking in unnoticed was bad enough, but the Anbu hadn’t even detected their presence.

Every ti, it was only after the enemy launched an attack that the Anbu scrambled to respond.

"I think they were probably after Yamato."

Yamato had finally been given a na. After the human experint information was exposed, the Third Hokage had pulled him out of the Anbu, nad him Yamato, and removed him from the Anbu.

This was to prevent Yamato from being targeted.

But the feared event still happened.

"This attack won’t be the last!!!"

Tsunade cast a serious glance at the Third Hokage and said:

"The most important thing now is to root out all the enemies who have infiltrated the village and eliminate them one by one. Also, we need to find out how they got to the Anbu base without anyone noticing along the way."

It was simply unbelievable.

Was the Anbu only competent when it ca to monitoring the Uchiha, but useless against external enemies?

This was ridiculous.

This was a serious matter that needed to be treated with gravity. There might even be an internal problem.

Konoha’s most critical departnt had beco as porous as a sieve, and Tsunade didn’t know what to say.

In so respects, the Third Hokage had indeed failed.

"Every day, I can’t even get a good night’s sleep."

Jiraiya, who had arrived late, opened the window and jumped in:

"I agree with Tsunade. The Anbu definitely needs reform. I suspect the problem lies within."

The Anbu was a special departnt that most of Konoha’s people couldn’t access.

Let alone the Anbu’s main base.

It was supposed to be one of Konoha’s most secretive and highly classified locations, yet here they were. The enemy had snuck in and brazenly launched an attack, only for the Anbu to react afterward.

How humiliating!!!

The biggest person to suffer from this disgrace was the Third Hokage himself, having been in charge of Konoha and the Anbu for decades.

The enemies had infiltrated Konoha, and the Anbu didn’t notice. The enemies reached the Anbu base, and still, the Anbu didn’t notice.

Only when the enemies launched their attack did the Anbu wake up. The Third Hokage’s reputation had been thoroughly trampled on.

Yet another troubleso matter.

This year had been full of hardships for Hiruzen Sarutobi.

If it wasn’t trouble with the Root, it was explosions at the Daimyo affairs—one after another!

When the Daimyo’s issues were resolved, the village’s problems flared up, and even his own son went missing, with his life or death unknown.

On top of that, the Anbu’s main base had been attacked, and all these compounded problems had almost been too much for the Third Hokage to handle.

At this point, blaming the Third Hokage was aningless.

What mattered was how to address and resolve these issues.

Tsunade rubbed her aching temples, starting to regret returning to Konoha.

If she hadn’t co back, she wouldn’t have had to deal with all this ss. Even though life on the run had been tough, at least there wasn’t this much pressure.

’It’s all your fault. If it weren’t for you dragging back here, I wouldn’t be in this situation!’

’Don’t give that look. This was all an old man’s mission. If you’re upset, take it up with him.’ Jiraiya awkwardly smiled and hid behind the Third Hokage, afraid that Tsunade, full of anger, might take it out on him.

The Intelligence Departnt got busy, especially the Yamanaka clan, who had a heavy burden on their shoulders.

In the Hokage’s office, the Third Hokage, Tsunade, and Jiraiya waited anxiously for the Intelligence Departnt’s results.

Despite the large-scale enemy attack, it hadn’t affected most of the ordinary villagers. Aside from so unlucky ones who got caught up in the battle while sleeping at ho.

Those who lost their hos were at least fortunate to have kept their lives, while the more unfortunate ones didn’t even survive.

"Lord Hokage, Lady Tsunade, Lord Jiraiya, this is the intelligence we’ve extracted from the enemies’ bodies."

At dawn, the Intelligence Departnt finally brought what they had been waiting for.

Tsunade, impatient, stepped in front of the Third Hokage, grabbed the scroll, and eagerly opened it. She was desperate to know the cause and details of the attack.

"Hmm?"

After reading a few lines, Tsunade frowned.

The information was chaotic. The fact that the enemies dared to infiltrate Konoha ant they had made thorough preparations. Even their bodies were rigged with traps, making it hard for Konoha to gather much information from their corpses.

"When I beco Hokage, I’ll make sure to clean out all the critical departnts in the village."
