Although these rumors have sowhat affected Tsunade’s reputation, compared to her massive debts, Tsunade would rather let people laugh at her as long as she can make more money to pay off what she owes.
Soon, what Kazuki predicted ca true.
The people who had previously sought Tsunade’s dical help realized that their opportunity had arrived.
Not only nobles from the Five Great Nations, but even the Daimyo and accompanying officials from smaller countries wouldn’t have much trouble with money.
These people value their lives above all else.
With a powerful dical ninja like Tsunade available, they were more than willing to spend money not just for treatnt but even for regular check-ups.
On just the second day, soone ca to Tsunade voluntarily.
"Tsunade-hi, I know you’re in a difficult situation, but as one of Konoha’s legendary Sannin, you wouldn’t want debt collectors to show up at Konoha, right? This is just a small token of appreciation."
"..."
What the...?!
Seeing the so-called "small token" inside the box, Tsunade’s hands trembled with excitent.
This "small token" must be worth over a million ryo, and if this is just a small token, then...
’Tsunade-sama, can we finally live a life free of debt?’
Shizune was almost moved to tears.
The days of running and hiding from debt collectors were truly hard to endure.
So, moved by this "small token," Tsunade was forced to attend to the person seeking her dical help. And, as expected, once there was a first, there was a second.
For the daimyo, as long as money can solve the problem, it’s not really a problem.
Not to ntion others, even the Daimyo of the Land of Fire personally sought out Tsunade and paid for a full-body check-up.
Particularly, the back examination was of utmost importance, and in addition to the check-up, Tsunade was asked to prepare various tonics.
It was clear that the Daimyo highly valued his quality of life.
This wave of fortune left Tsunade ecstatic, smiling every day.
Although the money she earned was quickly used to pay off her debts, watching her debt decrease made Tsunade feel delighted.
While Tsunade was in a good mood, soone else’s mood wasn’t so great.
For example, Danzo.
As negotiations between the village and the Daimyo ca to an end, Danzo was completely disheartened because the people who remained by his side were also reassigned.
Originally, the Third Hokage had granted Danzo a certain level of freedom, leaving so people with him.
Now, however, all the mbers of Root had been reassigned, and the level of surveillance on Danzo had been significantly increased.
This situation made Danzo realize that he had been sacrificed for the village’s interests.
It was ti for the ANBU shift change.
As the ANBU ninjas were switching shifts, a small summoning creature slipped into the courtyard and approached Danzo.
After Danzo untied the scroll from the summoning creature, it disappeared in a puff of white smoke.
All the Root mbers had been reassigned, and a large portion of them were likely to be dealt with.
The Third Hokage was well aware that these people had been thoroughly brainwashed by Danzo.
If not dealt with, they would eventually beco a ticking ti bomb.
As soon as Danzo made any move, this bomb would explode.
Despite this, Danzo still had the ans to obtain intelligence from the outside world.
Danzo’s fallback plan was the ANBU.
Officially, the ANBU is the Hokage’s direct subordinate unit, but in reality, the ANBU had long since beco riddled with leaks.
Danzo had placed many of his own people within the ANBU, and even the two representatives from the Council of Elders had done similar things.
This ensured that they could receive so confidential information and news at the earliest opportunity.
Now, the pieces Danzo had placed within the ANBU were being put to use.
"Useless, a bunch of useless people!!!"
After reading the contents of the scroll, Danzo was so furious that he cursed aloud.
Destroying the scroll, Danzo, burning with anger, walked into the courtyard and shouted at the surrounding ANBU ninjas:
"I want to see Hiruzen!! Get Hiruzen to co see !!!"
For the sake of the village’s interests, Danzo was forced to retire and accept it, though he was unwilling.
But he believed that as long as the Third Hokage was still in power, he would eventually be able to return.
The so-called surveillance and control were just excuses made for the Daimyo.
He could even accept the dissolution of Root.
After all, he still had many hidden forces scattered throughout Konoha.
Even though everyone around him had been dealt with, Danzo remained unfazed.
But when he learned that Kakashi had been attacked by the Uchiha at the Daimyo’s residence, had his Sharingan stolen, and that the village had simply let the Uchiha apologize, make assurances, and return the Sharingan to settle the matter, Danzo could no longer sit still.
He could endure anything, but not the Uchiha.
As good news continued to co from the Daimyo’s residence, the Third Hokage finally felt relieved and even had a better appetite, eating an extra bowl of rice.
The affairs of the Daimyo had taken quite a toll on his old body.
Fortunately, everything was nearing its conclusion.
Although the various Daimyo from other countries had been trying to stir up trouble at the Daimyo’s residence, the Daimyo of the Land of Fire showed no signs of being swayed.
While he was certainly displeased, he didn’t fall for the provocations from his peers and relatives.
The Daimyo and Konoha were closely intertwined; if one were to falter, it would cause significant negative repercussions.
If Konoha were to fall apart, what would happen if the other villages declared war?
The Daimyo wasn’t foolish; he understood this well.
Even in the worst-case scenario, if villages like Iwagakure and Kumogakure, which had been eyeing Konoha for a long ti, were to push Konoha too far, what if they really struck against him?
The Daimyo couldn’t afford to bet on whether these ill-intentioned relatives would stand up for him if sothing happened.
Moreover, his life was his own; he had to hold onto it tightly. How could he rely on others?
This was the main reason why the Daimyo of the Land of Fire had been holding back his frustrations.
Even though he wanted to see the Third Hokage gone.
Once the other Daimyo left, and the Daimyo released the overdue funds, the village’s finances would be alleviated.
The Third Hokage had already begun ntally budgeting and considering how to allocate this year’s funds.
"Hokage-sama, Danzo-sama is demanding to see you."
The ANBU ninjas were well aware of the Third Hokage’s feelings towards Danzo.
Despite Danzo being completely stripped of his position and placed under surveillance, the ANBU still addressed him with respect.
"He wants to see ?"
The Third Hokage’s thoughts were interrupted, and he frowned:
"Why does he want to see ?"
"....."
The ANBU ninja who ca to report was silent for a few seconds before answering truthfully:
"It’s because of the attack on Captain Kakashi at the Daimyo’s residence. Danzo-sama is very angry and demands that you go see him."
"Nonsense!!"
The Third Hokage imdiately beca displeased upon hearing this:
"Is this sothing Danzo should be concerned about? Has he forgotten his current... Wait! How did Danzo know about this?"
Before finishing his sentence, the Third Hokage realized sothing was wrong.
