Jiraiya opened his mouth, then closed it again, choosing silence.
He understood Tsunade.
Once she made up her mind, nothing would change it.
Hiruzen absently stroked his beard. Though he had stepped down as Hokage, he was still a jōnin, and with the Akatsuki threat looming, he had co to attend the jōnin eting.
He simply hadn't expected the very first item on the agenda to be the selection of the Sixth Hokage.
Even so, Hiruzen did nothing to stop it.
After all, Tsunade hadn't exactly taken up the mantle of Hokage entirely of her own will.
More importantly, Hiruzen was deeply satisfied with Kitazawa. He could not find a single reason to oppose him becoming Hokage.
Across the room, Uchiha Fugaku and Hyūga Hiashi exchanged a glance, each seeing the sa quiet delight in the other's eyes.
Tsunade had treated both clans fairly after becoming Hokage, but there had always been a certain distance.
Kitazawa was different. Once he beca Hokage, Sasuke and Hinata would be closely tied to him.
Even if they weren't formally his students yet, their connection through the Genius Class would keep them by his side.
Not to ntion, Kitazawa would almost certainly choose three students from the Genius Class as his personal disciples.
Those three would beco the frontrunners to compete for the title of Seventh Hokage.
Both Fugaku and Hiashi were convinced their own children would be among those three.
When that ti ca, the position of Hokage would practically be within reach.
"Now, we begin the first step of the Hokage selection process: Hokage nomination," Tsunade announced. She paused, then added, "If anyone has candidates in mind, please speak up."
"I believe it must be Kitazawa."
Fugaku was the first to stand.
Hiashi stiffened for a heartbeat, a flash of regret crossing his mind—he'd been just a step too slow.
"I also nominate Kitazawa," Shikaku said quickly.
The Ino–Shika–Chō trio always acted as one; his words represented Chōza and Inoichi as well.
"Kitazawa is currently the strongest ninja in Konohagakure. He is the most suitable person to beco the Sixth Hokage," Hiashi followed up without delay.
One after another, many jōnin—Shibi, Kakashi, Guy, and others—voiced their support.
No one was more thrilled than Kurenai.
She had long expected this day to co, but having it actually arrive still sent her heart racing.
Right now, she wanted nothing more than to leap into Kitazawa's arms, wrap herself around him, and refuse to let go.
Tsunade glanced at Kitazawa, a small smile tugging at her lips.
As expected of her student—he truly was the people's choice. Not a single objection had been raised.
"Besides Kitazawa, do you have any other candidates?" Tsunade asked again.
Under normal circumstances, there would be multiple Hokage candidates.
Having only one na on the table could look a little too blatant.
"None," everyone replied, shaking their heads.
In a situation like this, putting forward a second candidate would only risk offending two Hokage at once.
They weren't fools. No one was going to make a reckless nomination.
Kitazawa blinked as three lines of text suddenly appeared before his eyes:
[Current Mission: Beco the Sixth Hokage.]
[Mission Reward: Mastery-level Fire Release Chakra Nature Transformation.]
[Accept?]
His first thought was that the reward seed a bit stingy.
But on reflection, it was reasonable.
Mission rewards were proportional to mission difficulty.
And for him, becoming the Sixth Hokage was almost effortless.
Still, Mastery-level Fire Release chakra nature transformation wasn't bad.
Once he cleared this system mission, he would be able to obtain Mastery-level nature transformations for all seven elents—or rather, all chakra attributes.
In theory, after mastering every attribute, one could form truth-seeking orbs or even Kekkei Mōra with one's own hands.
Of course, actually doing so would be extrely difficult.
What new abilities or changes might co with mastery-level was sothing he would only know after obtaining it.
"Since the jōnin eting is already in session, we'll proceed with the jōnin vote first," Tsunade said, raising her hand to quiet the room.
There were roughly three steps to becoming Hokage:
Hokage nomination, jōnin vote, and appointnt by the daimyō.
In simple terms, one needed both overwhelming strength and widespread renown.
As for Kitazawa, both his power and his fa were already at their peak.
If one had to say which step mattered most, it was naturally the Hokage nomination.
In certain special tis, that alone was enough to decide everything.
For example, during the war, the Second Hokage, Senju Tobirama, had directly appointed Hiruzen as the Third Hokage.
"Shizune."
Tsunade's voice was calm.
Shizune imdiately stepped forward, took out a ballot box, and set it on the table.
The jonin vote officially began.
Following the order of their seats, Jiraiya and the others went up one after another to cast their votes.
"Sensei, you'll count the votes."
After thinking for a mont, Tsunade gave the instruction.
Hiruzen couldn't help but smile.
You've already called "Sensei," so what else can I say?
He rose to his feet, walked over to the ballot box, and began to count.
In truth, there wasn't much suspense.
"Kitazawa won unanimously!"
Hiruzen announced in a clear voice.
As expected, the result drew imdiate applause from the room.
Many faces lit up with anticipation.
A new Hokage's inauguration ant a shift in power.
Because of the Genius Class, they all felt they had a decent relationship with Kitazawa and might benefit from it.
"I'll send soone to inform the Daimyo of the Land of Fire."
Tsunade paused, then continued, "Now, let's move on to the second matter: the Akatsuki organization."
At that, everyone's expression grew solemn.
Many of them had lived through previous Ninja World Wars, but the upheaval caused by Akatsuki this ti was on a completely different level.
After all, in past wars, no village had ever managed to seize seven-tailed beasts or jinchuriki in one sweep.
The pressure from Akatsuki far exceeded anything they had faced from Kumogakure or Iwagakure. It was an unprecedented threat since the founding of Konoha.
Yet, to everyone's surprise, Tsunade only laid out routine counterasures and said nothing about cooperating with other villages.
"Hi, aren't we going to work with the other ninja villages?" Jiraiya asked after listening.
"The other villages won't agree."
Tsunade shook her head. "Even if they were willing to cooperate, they'd wait until after Konoha has suffered a crushing defeat."
Upon hearing that, everyone understood.
Jiraiya let out a helpless sigh.
The reason peace was so hard to achieve in the ninja world was that every major village harbored its own ulterior motives.
That was simply how things were. Ninjas who truly pursued peace were, in fact, the minority.
"This jonin eting is adjourned. When Akatsuki makes its next move, I'll have the Anbu inform you."
With that, Tsunade stood up and left the room.
Kitazawa started to follow, but a crowd of jonin quickly surrounded him.
They didn't have any particular business; they just wanted to congratulate him on soon becoming the Sixth Hokage.
By the ti Kitazawa had responded to everyone, another half hour had slipped by.
"You're really popular now," Kurenai said, smiling brightly.
"It's the Hokage who's popular, not ," Kitazawa replied casually.
"That's not true."
Kurenai walked up to him. "You were already very popular before this."
"That's true."
Kitazawa pulled her into his arms, gave her ass a squeeze, and said, "At least I'm popular with you."
Kurenai instinctively glanced around. Only after confirming that everyone else had left did she quietly let out a breath of relief.
"Don't worry, I definitely won't ss around when people are around," Kitazawa dipped his head and stole a playful nip from her rosy lips.
"I really didn't expect you to beco Hokage so soon."
Kurenai shot him a teasing glare and sighed.
With the Yin Seal, Tsunade could easily have stayed Hokage for another ten or twenty years.
"Given Lady Tsunade's personality, lasting this long as Hokage is already quite an achievent," Kitazawa said, shaking his head.
"Lady Tsunade is indeed very... unique."
Kurenai couldn't help but laugh.
"I'm heading to the Hokage Office," Kitazawa said as he started walking. "Want to walk you ho?"
"It's still early. I'm going to check on the film crew," Kurenai replied.
After the Film and Television Departnt was established, preparations for Konoha's first movie had begun. It was now in the middle of filming.
The film's subject was the legendary life of the First Hokage, Senju Hashirama.
"Alright then."
Kitazawa nodded and turned to go upstairs.
A short while later, he arrived at the Hokage office.
He knocked and, after hearing permission, stepped inside.
"You're about to beco the Sixth Hokage. How does it feel?" Tsunade asked with a smile, setting down the docunts in her hand.
"Not great."
Kitazawa walked up to her, reached out to brush her cheek, and said, "I'm more interested in how you're going to thank ."
"Thank you? Shouldn't you be thanking ?" Tsunade batted his hand away and grumbled, "Why do you make it sound like becoming Hokage is so kind of terrible burden?"
"Then why don't you keep being Hokage?" Kitazawa asked, blinking.
"..."
Tsunade was montarily speechless.
Kitazawa couldn't help but laugh.
It was fortunate there wasn't a third person in the Hokage Office. Anyone overhearing this teacher–student exchange would be torn between laughter and exasperation.
The title of Hokage—dread of by all of Konoha and even the entire shinobi world—was being treated like a hot potato by the two of them.
"Speaking of rewards..." Kitazawa's gaze slid around the room. "I actually do have sothing I want."
"What is it?" Tsunade asked, genuinely curious.
She couldn't think of anything else she could possibly give him. Everything that could be given had already been given; even she herself no longer truly belonged to her alone.
"You're not allowed to hit after I say it," Kitazawa coughed lightly.
"...?"
Suspicion flickered across Tsunade's face.
"Promise first," Kitazawa pressed.
"I promise," Tsunade replied, her interest piqued. She agreed without thinking it through.
Kitazawa bent down, leaned to her ear, and whispered a single line.
Tsunade's expression froze. An instant later, she swung a fist at him.
"You just promised . How can you go back on your word that fast?" Kitazawa caught her wrist and blurted out.
"You really have a beautiful imagination!" Tsunade snapped, her voice full of displeasure.
"I'm just talking. You don't have to take it so seriously," Kitazawa said quickly.
"Like I don't know you by now?" Tsunade lifted her leg and kicked him, then demanded, "How long have you had this idea?"
Kitazawa looked her up and down.
She didn't seem as furious as he'd expected.
Could it be that his dream of sharing a bed with multiple won actually had a chance of coming true?
"Since you don't like it, let's drop it," Kitazawa said, retreating to advance.
Tsunade narrowed her eyes and tilted her head back to study him.
Kitazawa t her gaze calmly.
"You really are thick-skinned," Tsunade said, shaking her head.
"I have a clear conscience," Kitazawa replied shalessly.
"Enough. You think you can still fool ?" Tsunade rolled her eyes. "We'll see how you perform."
"Huh?" Kitazawa blurted without thinking.
"I'm working. If you've got nothing else, stop getting in the way of my work." Tsunade didn't elaborate, her tone turning businesslike.
"Thank you, Tsunade-sensei."
Kitazawa pulled her into a hug and planted a kiss on her cheek.
Tsunade's expression was full of disdain, but she didn't push him away.
After he left, she sank into deep thought.
—
By noon, the students of the Genius Class had ended their training and gathered for lunch.
Just then, a commotion rose from the academy gate.
"What's going on?" Kiba asked curiously.
"I'll go check right now!"
Konohamaru bolted toward the school gate, practically bouncing with excitent.
"I'm coming too!"
Udon rushed after him, scrambling to keep up.
"So full of energy," Shikamaru yawned, sounding utterly bored.
"Actually, we could just have Neji use his Byakugan to check from here," Tenten said with a light smile.
"It's all the sa," Neji replied calmly. "We won't be waiting long."
Sure enough, a mont later Konohamaru and Udon ca sprinting back, breathing hard.
"Looks like sothing big happened," Yakumo guessed, watching the two boys' excited faces.
"The Sixth Hokage!" Konohamaru panted out.
"What do you an?" Inuzuka Kiba stared at him, stunned. "Isn't it only the Fifth Hokage right now?"
"Changing the Hokage at a ti like this? How is that possible?" Shikamaru frowned, clearly confused.
They were all from major ninja clans, so they understood how tense the current situation in the ninja world was.
"It's true!" Udon added quickly. "The notices are already posted! It was decided at this morning's Jonin eting!"
"No wonder Kitazawa-sensei and the others weren't here this morning," Sakura said, suddenly realizing.
"Who's the Sixth Hokage?" Uzumaki Naruto demanded impatiently.
"You should be asking who the Hokage candidates are," Sakura corrected him.
"It's definitely Kitazawa-sensei!" Ino snorted.
Hinata nodded almost without thinking.
"It really is Kitazawa-sensei," Konohamaru said after a brief pause. "He's the only one. There isn't a second Hokage candidate."
"Doesn't that an the Sixth Hokage can only be Kitazawa-sensei?" Hanabi blurted out.
"That's logical," Shino Abura said, adjusting his sunglasses.
"Even if there were other Hokage candidates, they wouldn't be able to compete with Kitazawa-sensei," Jugo said quietly.
Kimimaro and Tayuya nodded in agreent.
Only Gaara and Fū remained largely expressionless. After all, they weren't Konoha ninja—or rather, they hadn't fully integrated into life in the village yet.
"As expected of Kitazawa-sensei!" Naruto thrust a thumbs-up into the air. "I'll definitely inherit Kitazawa-sensei's youth and beco the Seventh Hokage!"
"The Seventh Hokage will definitely be Sasuke-kun!" Sakura shot back imdiately.
"..."
Sasuke opened his mouth, then closed it again. Sakura's words had co so fast he hadn't even had ti to react.
"Maybe it'll be ," Kiba said, folding his arms and boasting without sha.
"Being Hokage is such a drag." Shikamaru shook his head. "I'm definitely not doing it."
"It's fine," Ino said, a hint of schadenfreude in her voice. "The position of Hokage Advisor is yours."
"..."
Shikamaru was struck speechless.
There were many variables when it ca to the Hokage's seat, but over ninety-nine percent of Hokage Advisors historically ca from the Nara clan.
