Akio glanced over his status panel and let out a small sigh.
Over the past three years, he had indeed trained diligently and made significant progress. Judging by the witness points, he had likely saved close to 30 points through his hard work.
Yet his overall evaluation was still just "S", showing that he hadn't made any qualitative breakthrough. He was stronger than before, but the growth was still limited.
As for age, that had changed slightly. After turning 20, he could only age forward, no longer able to reduce his age. Looks like staying forever 18 was out of the question for Akio.
"Only 32 witness points… That's too few. Even if I spent them all, it wouldn't make much of a difference," he muttered to himself. These past three years training within the clan hadn't earned him a single witness point, and the Warring States Period had been relatively calm lately.
Hashirama had basically persuaded every clan except the Uchiha. The Senju and Uchiha still clashed from ti to ti, but Madara hadn't shown himself—likely still adjusting to his Eternal Mangekyō.
As a result, the Senju were gradually overwhelming the Uchiha, to the point where so proud Uchiha clansn had begun defecting.
"The final battle must be approaching... But my strength…"
Sigh "I've kind of failed as a diator from the Uzumaki…"
Akio let out a long sigh, shaking his head.
"Sensei! We're here!" ca a distant shout from Jitou, with a now teenaged Izuko beside her.
Akio only had two disciples left… Not that Nanako had t a bad end—she had gotten married last year and was now expecting a child. Her husband? A year younger than her. Akio had t him before too—Uzumaki Genkai, the boy who did the most pushups during the apprentice trials.
"Sensei, we just ca from visiting Sister Nanako. She told to send you her regards," Izuko said cheerfully.
Akio nodded. "Anything else?"
Izuko gave Jitou a stern glare, and Jitou yelled out, "Sensei! Let's have another match! I've developed a new ultimate move!"
Akio's face twitched. For the past three years, Jitou had always co to "spar" every ti he made progress—only to get completely schooled.
"Alright, alright, let's see this new move of yours…" Akio said, clearly humoring him.
"Okay, here I go, Sensei!" Jitou shouted. "Eight Gates Released Formation! First Gate—Gate of Opening—Open!"
A burst of violent chakra sent gusts of wind in all directions, tossing Akio's bright red hair into a ss—and rattling his mind too.
Boom!
Jitou's punch struck Akio squarely, sending him flying.
"Sensei!" Izuko shouted, glaring at Jitou and rushing after him. "Are you alright?!"
Jitou scratched his head. "Was my new move really that strong?" He deactivated the Gate of Opening and ran after them.
"I'm fine! More than fine! Never been better!" Akio burst out laughing.
At the sa ti, a familiar row of characters flashed in front of his eyes:
*"You've witnessed and slightly altered a Naruto world side event: 'Eight Gates Released Formation'. Gained 10 (2) witness points."
"So it was just a slight change. I guess the Eight Gates were ant to be developed by Jitou anyway—I just accelerated the tiline. Makes sense with how absurd his taijutsu talent is."
"I should've realized it earlier—if Tobirama recorded the Eight Gates in the Scroll of Seals, then they weren't created by the Senju, but soone close to them…"
"And with Jitou's talent and perseverance, he'll probably be clan leader level by his twenties. Plus, he's Masahiro's grandson… wouldn't be surprised if he ends up leading the Uzumaki."
As Akio was lost in thought, Izuko's voice brought him back.
"Jitou, look what you've done! Sensei's already getting old, and now you've knocked him silly… He's just sitting there laughing to himself!"
Akio's face darkened. Jitou leaned in nervously, "Sensei? You okay?"
"I'm fine. In fact, from now on—you're my sensei, Jitou!" Akio replied dramatically.
"It's over, Izuko… Sensei really did go nuts…" Jitou muttered.
Half an hour later, Akio finally managed to clear things up and wipe the sweat from his forehead. His two disciples had, at last, been convinced that he wasn't crazy…
"Jitou, how many gates can you open right now?" Akio asked.
"Six!" Jitou replied proudly.
Akio considered it. "Judging by our physical difference, I should be able to open seven… maybe even the eighth, though I'd probably die doing it…"
"This technique is extrely damaging to the body. It must be classified as forbidden. You mustn't pass it on to others lightly. For now, only the two of us can practice it. And never open all eight gates—doing so will cause massive life force loss. Even with our Uzumaki vitality, death is almost certain."
Jitou nodded. "I know, Sensei. Once I open the fifth gate, the pain becos almost unbearable."
Akio stiffened. Damn, I forgot about the pain… And here I was thinking of trying seven gates. I'll stick with five just for show…
"Sensei, if you and Jitou are practicing that, what about ?" Izuko asked from the side.
"Uh…" Akio hesitated. Izuko, now 14, had already learned all his Wind and Fire Release techniques. He really didn't have anything new to teach.
"Izuko, you're not really suited for taijutsu. Better to continue your ninjutsu training. If you make more progress, maybe I can try teaching you Scorch Release…" Akio said, though even he wasn't too confident. Kekkei Genkai were tough to pass on without the right lineage—even with help from the system.
"Sensei! Did you forget? I just awakened Earth Release a little while ago!" Izuko said angrily.
Akio froze. "Did you tell that?"
Izuko glared. Akio quickly tried to console her, "Alright, alright, my bad. I'll teach you so Earth Release techniques! Seriously though, you're acting more and more like Nanako…"
Half a year later.
"Eight Gates Released Formation! Seventh Gate—Gate of Wonder—Open!" Akio's shout echoed through the training ground.
"Uh… Close!"
"God, that hurts so much!"
