Manji hesitated for a mont, but in the end, he accepted the call.

A mont later, he found himself in the communication space. His illusory form appeared, and soon, nine huge shapes appeared in front of him, one after another.

All nine tailed beasts were there, from Shukaku the One-Tails to Kurama the Nine-Tails.

Manji slowly raised his eyes.

Last ti, only Kurama had co... This ti, they had all shown up.

"What brings all of you to ?" Manji asked.

"..." The nine giant figures tensed under his gaze. Their bright presence faded, and they looked at each other, clear hesitation on their faces.

Finally, Kurama stepped forward, looking determined.

"Teacher! You haven't forgotten what you promised before, have you?"

He sounded urgent and a little upset.

Earlier, Kurama had felt Manji's power and thought his teacher was finally coming out of hiding to change the world.

But nothing actually happened. Life in the Shinobi world went on as usual.

"Kurama, why do you keep bringing this up? I've told you before that I have my own plans for the Shinobi world." Manji rubbed his forehead and shook his head.

He looked at the other tailed beasts, sounding a bit scolding. "It was one thing when you ca alone before. But this ti, you brought everyone with you?"

"And the rest of you. Why are you following Kurama into this nonsense?"

Manji pointed at them. "Matatabi, Gyūki, Saiken... Kurama is one thing, but you three are usually the reasonable ones."

"Son Gokū and Isobu, you two have the least contact with the Shinobi world. Why are you here too?"

"..." The tailed beasts he nad lowered their heads. Their huge forms seed a bit smaller, but their eyes stayed stubborn.

It was obvious they had talked about this before coming.

"Teacher, we're not making trouble. The Shinobi world has beco too chaotic. Even from my Water Curtain Cave, I can no longer stand watching it," Son Gokū said first.

"Teacher, Son is right," Gyūki said. "It isn't only the central lands of the Shinobi world. In the northern region where I live, barely one in ten people survives."

"Teacher, I live in the sea and almost never interact with humans, but seeing the state of the world still pains ," Isobu said at once, his tone gentle.

"Teacher, I'll be honest. If you keep staying out of things while the wars go on, the Shinobi world will end up back in the Stone Age," Shukaku said, his sand-colored chakra swirling.

Even Matatabi spoke up.

"Teacher, I've always listened to you, but I can't stand seeing the Shinobi world like this..." Matatabi's violet-blue form pulled back a little.

After everyone else spoke, Kurama's voice got louder, full of haste and bla. "Teacher! You see it now, right? We all ca to talk to you. What are you waiting for? Do you really have to wait until the Shinobi world is gone before you do sothing?"

"..."

Manji looked at the tailed beasts, seeing how each one was pleading in their own way. He paused, feeling a bit helpless.

He understood their thoughts too well.

In the original story, humans always hunted, captured, and used the tailed beasts. It made sense that the beasts would think humans deserved whatever happened to them.

But because Manji had stepped in before, all of them had sohow beco heroes to humans.

"It is not that I refuse to act. When the proper ti cos, I will act," Manji said evenly.

Honestly, he had lived for thousands of years and already knew how the original Naruto story ended. He was used to how harsh this world could be.

Here, the strong always preyed on the weak. Outside the villages, there were assassins and bandits. The daimyō only cared about politics. Rogue shinobi and bounty hunters were everywhere. Suffering was just part of life.

Kurama saw Manji was still avoiding the issue and frowned. "Teacher! Please step in and fix the world. If you don't, we'll go to Mount Myōboku and confront you ourselves!"

The other tailed beasts did not speak, but they all nodded in silence. Their stance was firm.

"Oh? Are you trying to challenge ?" Manji paused.

Kurama really was adorable...

After all these years, this was the first ti a tailed beast had ever threatened Manji.

He wasn't angry. Kurama was just desperate. Even if he was going against Manji, his intentions were good.

"Teacher, we are not trying to fight you," Kurama said. "We just want to question you. We want to ask whether you still intend to care for the Shinobi world at all."

"If you do not, then we will act in your place."

"And when that happens, don't bla us for disrupting whatever long ga you're playing!"

After Kurama finished speaking, a heavy chill fell over the space.

Manji slowly lifted his eyes and swept it over the other tailed beasts.

"Do all of you think the sa?" His voice stayed calm, but there was a hint of helplessness.

The other tailed beasts did not hesitate. One after another, they nodded heavily. Not a single one backed down.

Seeing how determined they were, Manji relaxed a little. He looked at the tailed beasts and sighed to himself.

After a brief silence, Manji finally spoke.

"Very well..."

He looked at the tailed beasts in front of him. "Once the fight between Asura and Indra's reincarnations is over, I'll step in."

"Right now, Asura and Indra are still fighting. If I step in too soon, I'll ss up their contest."

When Manji agreed to wait, the tailed beasts hesitated. Uncertainty showed in their eyes as they looked at each other, unsure what to do next.

Kurama, always impatient, couldn't stand waiting. His fur stood up as he moved forward, ready to argue.

But Gyūki quickly gave him a warning look.

"Uh." Kurama stopped himself. His big fox eyes widened, but in the end, he closed his mouth, looking frustrated.

When Kurama stayed quiet, Gyūki spoke for all the tailed beasts. "Teacher, we agree. But you have to keep your promise."

"Mm." Manji gave a faint nod and said nothing more.

A ripple moved through the space around him. Then he turned and left, disappearing from the tailed beasts' view.

..............

After Manji was gone, Kurama couldn't hold back anymore. He turned to Gyūki and growled, "Gyūki, why did you stop ?"

Gyūki shook his big octopus head and sighed. "Teacher already gave in a little. If you kept pushing, you might have really made him angry."

"Just take the win and leave it at that. Besides, it looks like Indra and Asura will finish their fight soon."

"Sigh..."

Kurama lowered his big eyes and let out a sigh. "Fine."
