His true purpose was to test Kiyoshi in Chakra Flow.
He hadn't seen a single classmate in their class who knew this technique!

In the distance, Kurenai looked worried.
This was the first ti she had seen Asuma use such a technique, she had never seen it before at the Ninja Academy.
Her initial belief that Kiyoshi would win now shifted to concern.
