Now reading: Chapter 131: Violent Coup! from Naruto: The Uchiha They Should Have Killed, a Action novel by sagamaster789.

"The Hokage is the Hokage, and Konoha is Konoha? What does that an?"

"Haven't the village's actions been targeting us all these years? Doesn't the Third Hokage represent the village?"

"All village policies are issued by the Third Hokage. Is there really any difference between him and the village?"

Most of the Uchiha gathered in the secret chamber looked confused and puzzled.

In their eyes—and in the eyes of most people in Konohagakure—the Third Hokage, Hiruzen Sarutobi, was the village.

Seeing their expressions, Uchiha Ren began to explain.

"What is a village? And what is a Hokage?"

"A village is a community of shared interests ford by all its residents."

"The Hokage may exercise authority on behalf of the village, but the power in his hands ultimately cos from the authorization and trust of the entire population."

"The authority held by the Hokage is a public instrunt of power."

"It has never been the personal property of Hiruzen Sarutobi."

"All the policies targeting the Uchiha clan may have been implented in the na of the village—but that is only because Hiruzen Sarutobi abused public authority for private purposes."

"He does not represent the will of the entire village."

"So from beginning to end, the enemy of the Uchiha clan has never been the village itself."

"Our enemies are those who temporarily hold power within it—"

"Hiruzen Sarutobi, Shimura Danzō, Koharu Utatane, and Homura Mitokado."

The Uchiha in the chamber seed half-understanding, half-confused.

It felt as if their enemy had changed, yet also hadn't changed at all.

However, Uchiha Ya suddenly felt his eyelids twitch.

A sense of unease rose in his heart.

For so reason, he had a sudden realization—

Uchiha Ren might be even more radical than Uchiha Setsuna.

At the sa ti, Setsuna himself seed to have an epiphany.

His eyes shone as he looked at Ren .

Coincidentally, he had the exact sa feeling.

Ren , however, ignored the thoughts of Setsuna and Ya and continued speaking to the clan.

"Now that we understand the needs of the Uchiha, the stance of the Uchiha, and the enemies of the Uchiha…"

"The next step is to determine how to solve the Uchiha clan's current predicant."

"I have two paths to offer."

"The first is relatively conservative."

"That is for the Uchiha clan to beco Hokage."

"As long as the Hokage cos from the Uchiha clan, all our problems will naturally be resolved."

The mont those words were spoken, the eyes of every Uchiha in the chamber lit up.

It had to be said—

The Uchiha clan had always possessed a special attachnt to the Hokage position, almost as if the seat originally belonged to them.

What they didn't understand, however, was why Ren described becoming Hokage as the more conservative option.

Uchiha Ya imdiately spoke up.

"Ren , don't speak recklessly! Even if the Uchiha now possess three pairs of Mangekyō Sharingan, launching a coup would still be extrely difficult."

"More importantly, the Mangekyō Sharingan has flaws. Even if a coup succeeded, it might lead to an even greater backlash later."

As a clan elder, Ya had never awakened the Mangekyō Sharingan himself.

But he still knew so of its secrets.

A normal Mangekyō Sharingan loses its vision with repeated use.

The more its power is used, the closer the user moves toward permanent blindness.

With such a weakness, an enemy could theoretically trade dozens of lives just to eliminate one Mangekyō wielder.

Because of this, Ya believed that ard conflict must never be chosen unless absolutely necessary.

Ren looked slightly helpless upon hearing this.

"Second Elder, do you really believe that the only way for the Uchiha to beco Hokage is through a coup?"

Ya was stunned.

"Isn't it?"

Not only him—almost every Uchiha present shared the sa confusion.

In their minds, if the Uchiha wanted the Hokage position, a coup seed inevitable.

Seeing this, Ren gained an even deeper understanding of the Uchiha clan's political awareness.

He sighed inwardly and shook his head slightly.

"First, we need to clarify what a coup actually ans."

"A coup refers to a small group secretly transferring power through political or violent ans outside normal procedures."

"There are also two types of coups."

"One is a violent coup."

"The other is a non-violent coup."

"As for a non-violent coup…"

"We can forget about it."

"The Uchiha clan currently has no political allies within Konoha."

"We are completely isolated."

"A peaceful transfer of power is basically impossible."

"So if the Uchiha were to attempt a coup, there would only be one option—"

"A violent coup."

The Uchiha in the chamber all nodded.

That was exactly how they had always thought.

"But compared to a non-violent coup," Ren continued, "a violent coup is far harder to accomplish."

"To succeed, it requires not only sufficient strength, but also reliable allies."

"But given the Uchiha clan's current situation…"

"If we attempted a violent coup, the first objective would obviously be eliminating the Konoha leadership led by the Third Hokage."

"But what happens after that?"

"Leaving aside how much strength the Uchiha clan would lose during such a battle…"

"Even if we sohow suffered zero casualties, could we suppress the other clans of Konoha afterward?"

"So even if a violent coup succeeded…"

"In the end, we would simply be making wedding clothes for soone else."

In other words—

Soone else would reap the benefits.

The mont Ren finished speaking, the entire chamber fell into silence.

The Uchiha all showed troubled expressions.

Even though Ren had phrased it gently, they all knew—

He had only described the best-case scenario.

At this point, they finally realized sothing.

A coup by the Uchiha clan was dood to fail from the start.

And the reason was simple.

The Uchiha had no allies in Konoha.

A lone clan with no support—who would help them seize power?

Ren continued:

"So if the Uchiha want to beco Hokage, a coup is not the way."

"As I said before, the Hokage is rely a custodian of authority chosen by the villagers of Konoha."

"If you want to beco Hokage, you must place the people of the village first."

"You must gain the recognition of the villagers."

"Sches and conspiracies cannot accomplish great things."

"Brute aggression is rely a crooked path."

"You must let everyone in the village see that you are sincere in shouldering responsibility."

"That is the proper path."

"If a clan refuses the proper path, no one will support it."

"If you never show kindness to the villagers, no one will admire you."

"Just look at the Uchiha clan's current reputation."

"In the eyes of the village, we are arrogant, cold, distant, and unreasonable."

"In that situation…"

"Who would support us becoming Hokage?"

"So if the Uchiha want the Hokage position…"

"The first thing we must do is a single word—"

"Change."
