Now reading: Chapter 170 170: He’s Taken a Fancy to It from Naruto : The White Lightning Reincarnator, a Action novel by chakraflow789.

If the Seven Ninja Swordsn of the Mist were to hold an anonymous internal poll—sothing like "The First Annual Favorite Ninja Blade Awards"—then Greatsword: Sahada would almost certainly win No. 1 by a landslide.

The reason wouldn't be that it was especially good at cutting things.

Anyone familiar with Sahada knew the truth:

It could fight.

It could tank.

It could absorb.

It could even heal.

An all-purpose youth essential—perfect for ho, travel, murder, and arson.

If one were to discuss the pairing of Kisa Hoshigaki and Sahada, who was the main character and who was the supporting role?

There was no question.

Sahada stole the spotlight completely.

Unlike the later Kisa, Kisa Hoshigaki—

no, correction—

Unlike future Kisa, Kisa Hoshigaki's predecessor, Fuguki Suikazan, was at best a knife rack.

According to legend, Sahada was originally a small fish that lived alongside the Three-Tails in a great lake, helping it absorb and process chakra. Fish and turtle depended on each other in harmony.

Sadly, a so-called "sage" swordsmith discovered this miraculous material and forged it into the famous blade Sahada, engraving the na of the lake onto its hilt.

Thus began Sahada's long, wandering life as a weapon.

In summary, Sahada's story was an inspirational tale—

A Salted fish (Sentient weapon) that rose to beco a knowing Salted fish (Sentient weapon), slaughtering countless enemies along the way.

This was a blade that could easily serve as the protagonist of another story.

Perhaps soday there would be a Naruto transmigration fanfic where the main character reincarnates as Sahada, telling a wholeso love story between Sahada and Isobu.

Unfortunately—

Hagoromo would not be part of that genre.

At this mont, Fuguki Suikazan casually lifted Sahada with one hand and rested it on his shoulder.

With his keen eyesight, Hagoromo imdiately noticed the dark blue, serrated scales protruding from beneath the torn bandages near the blade's tip.

A weapon shaped like this…

His gaze sharpened.

"I've heard that every blade of the Seven Swordsn has a unique function," Hagoromo said.

"This Sahada… isn't actually ant for cutting people, is it?"

Since Fuguki had declared he would handle Hagoromo personally—and since more than twice their number of Konoha ninja were already pressing forward—the surrounding Mist ninja had no ti to interfere.

A true one-on-one.

Hagoromo wasn't in a hurry to attack. Exchanging a few words first might coax out valuable intelligence.

Since Hagoromo had already noticed Sahada's abnormal form and made an educated guess, Fuguki didn't bother hiding it.

"Correct," Fuguki said calmly.

"Rather than cutting people, Sahada is used to shave them."

He didn't elaborate on how.

After all, Hagoromo would understand soon enough.

"Just that?" Hagoromo replied.

"As you said, Biwa Jūzō died by my hand. I even tore apart his Executioner's Blade."

"That blade isn't ranked among the Seven rely because it's 'big,' is it?"

"The matter of the Executioner's Blade is classified," Fuguki answered with a chilling grin.

"But I can tell you this—it has already been recovered."

Recovered?

Hagoromo was puzzled.

Why go through the trouble of fishing a broken broken sword out of the water? That thing shouldn't even be usable anymore.

Did the Executioner's Blade have so hidden property he'd missed?

Or was Kirigakure planning to lt it down and reforge it?

Clearly, Fuguki had no intention of explaining.

"Whether Sahada is only capable of that," Fuguki continued,

"you'll find out very soon."

He lowered the blade from his shoulder, gripping it with both hands, the tip angled behind him.

That stance made it clear—

The conversation was over.

In the next instant, Fuguki surged forward at a speed that completely belied his massive fra.

Once within range, he swung Sahada in a full arc, slashing straight toward Hagoromo's waist.

Hagoromo dodged smoothly along the blade's trajectory.

Trying to block a monstrosity like Sahada with a kunai would be suicide.

And besides—

Wasn't this thing not supposed to be for cutting?

Where was the basic trust between people?

Sahada looked heavy and unwieldy, a weapon clearly ant for brute-force users.

Yet in Fuguki's hands, it moved with terrifying ease.

The slash ca much faster than Hagoromo expected.

Buff activation—instant acceleration!

Just as Sahada was about to connect, lightning flared across Hagoromo's body—

Chidori Current.

But almost simultaneously—

Sahada's body swelled, expanding by an entire size.

The blade's swing halted mid-arc, and the enlarged serrations dragged backward in a vicious reverse shave, barely grazing Hagoromo's waist.

Even that, Hagoromo could have evaded with a second acceleration—

But as Sahada scraped past him, his Chidori Current vanished instantly.

Gone.

Hagoromo was caught completely off guard.

Pain and blood burst from his waist at the sa ti.

Damn it—he'd underestimated this thing.

This blade was far more sinister than the Executioner's Blade.

Was it even a blade at all?

Fortunately, his initial dodge had worked—the wound wasn't deep.

But Fuguki clearly had no intention of letting up.

Seeing the partial success of the reverse shave, he imdiately drove Sahada forward again.

Was he using this thing like a chainsaw?!

Another hit like that, and Hagoromo's entire side would be gone.

Have you ever heard of don't cut the kidneys?!

Fast—but Hagoromo was faster.

His right hand snapped outward, a piercing whistle splitting the air as a kunai flew.

In the next instant, seals were completed at fourteen-years-single speed.

Ninja Art: Shuriken Shadow Clone Technique!

At point-blank range, faced with a storm of kunai, Fuguki had no desire to be turned into a sieve.

He abandoned his attack and raised Sahada like a shield.

Clang! Clang!

tal rang like rain pounding banana leaves.

Using the opening, Hagoromo retreated rapidly, widening the distance between them.

Pain still flared at his waist—but he didn't look at the wound.

Instead, his eyes burned as he stared at Sahada.

The blade's gaping mouth and extended tongue were now fully visible.

This thing was alive.

Which ant—

It wasn't a sword.

Everything suddenly made sense.

Still, he needed confirmation.

"Impressive defensive response," Fuguki said as the barrage ended, lowering Sahada.

Several bloody holes marred his right shoulder—the result of Hagoromo's shadow shuriken.

Hagoromo ignored the praise.

Lightning flared again as Chidori Current reactivated.

Fuguki casually slamd Sahada into the ground half a ter in front of Hagoromo—

And the lightning vanished once more.

No.

More precisely—

It was absorbed.

"In front of ," Fuguki said evenly,

"emission-type ninjutsu is useless."

Hagoromo didn't move to attack. That placent of the blade hadn't been offensive.

To be thorough, Hagoromo fired Chidori Spear at Sahada.

Sa result.

Instantly nullified.

"Before it can take effect…" Hagoromo said slowly,

"the chakra gets absorbed, doesn't it?"

Though phrased as a question, his tone was confident.

He was now more than ninety percent certain:

This spiny, monstrous thing could absorb chakra.

And instead of feeling troubled—

Hagoromo's eyes lit up.

Very bright.

Which ant only one thing.

He was interested.

Extrely interested.

"I'm not particularly skilled with large ninja tools," Hagoromo said calmly,

"but your nindō… I'd very much like to add it to my collection."

A blade that could absorb chakra?

That alone made it priceless.

He stopped using ninjutsu.

As he spoke, his right hand reached behind his neck and made a drawing motion.

With a low tallic hum, a one-ter-long iron-sand blade slid free from the gourd on his back.

Hagoromo wasn't good at sword techniques.

But what he held was a true chainsaw.

Next up—

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

At this point, even if Fuguki wanted to run—

Hagoromo would not allow it.

The scene was like a bandit chief setting his sights on the neighbor village's widow's daughter—

He wanted the daughter.

And the widow herself had to co along as a bonus.
