I woke up to the sound of absolute silence.
The inn, usually bustling with the morning activities of maids and guests, was eerily quiet on our floor.
I stretched, my joints popping satisfyingly, and sat up. The sleek, holographic system interface was already blinking in my peripheral vision.
[System Notification: Chemical Attack Detected.]
[Status Effect: High-Grade Tasteless Sedative.]
[Passive Skill: Gar's Body - Nullifying Status Effect... Complete.]
"She spiked the tea," I chuckled, throwing the covers off. "Classic Tsunade."
I walked out into the living room of the suite. The scene was exactly as expected. Jiraiya was sprawled face-down on the tatami mat, drooling and completely comatose. Naruto was snoring in a corner, out cold.
But Shizune was already awake. Her high-level dical training had allowed her to burn through the sedative faster than the others. She was frantically packing her dical supplies into a pouch, her hands shaking.
She looked up as I entered the room, her dark eyes wide.
"Kenji-kun! You're awake!" she gasped, rushing over. She didn't have her usual professional distance; in her panicked state, she grabbed my forearms, pressing her chest against my chest. "Tsunade-sama... she's gone! She drugged us! She's going to et Orochimaru alone!"
I looked down at her, completely unfazed by the panic. I calmly reached up, my hands resting heavily on her waist, pulling her flush against .
"Breathe, Shizune," I commanded, my voice dropping to that deep, hypnotic timber.
She gasped, the sudden, intimate contact and the residual effects of last night's corruption crashing through her panic. Her trembling stopped. She looked up at , completely anchored by my overwhelming calm.
"She isn't going to heal his arms," I told her, my thumbs lazily stroking her hips. "She went there to kill him. Tsunade might be a depressed gambler, but she's not a traitor to the Leaf. The problem is, she's rusty, and Orochimaru has his pet sociopath, Kabuto, with him."
"We have to help her!" Shizune urged, her face flushing as she realized how close we were standing, but refusing to step back.
"We will," I promised, giving her waist one final, reassuring squeeze before letting her go. I walked over to the unconscious Sannin.
I coated my boot in a thin layer of [Armant Haki] and kicked Jiraiya squarely in the ribs.
CRACK.
"GAAAAH!" Jiraiya snapped awake, coughing violently and clutching his side. "What the hell, brat?! I was dreaming about the hot springs!"
"Wake up, Ero-Sennin. Your teammate just went to go solo an S-Rank missing-nin and a reanimated army," I tossed a cup of cold water directly into Naruto's face.
The blonde sputtered awake, flailing wildly. "I'm awake! The Rasengan is spinning!"
"Grab your gear," I ordered, turning toward the door, my crimson silk coat billowing behind . "The grand finale is starting, and I want front-row seats."
*****
We arrived just in ti to witness the climax of the plot.
The battlefield was a ruined expanse of rocky terrain and shattered stone structures.
Down below, it was a complete ss. Tsunade was on her knees, paralyzed, trembling violently. Kabuto had sliced his own hand open, exploiting her crippling hemophobia.
"Pathetic," Orochimaru hissed, his necrotic arms hanging uselessly at his sides. "The legendary Slug Princess, brought to her knees by a few drops of blood. Kill her, Kabuto."
Kabuto sneered, raising a chakra-scalpel.
But before he could strike, a blur of orange intercepted him.
Naruto stood between the trembling Sannin and the Sound spy.
"I won't let you touch her!" Naruto roared, blood dripping from his chin.
From the high cliff overlooking the battlefield, Jiraiya and Shizune prepared to jump down.
"Wait," I held up a hand, stopping them.
"Kenji, what are you doing?! She's helpless!" Shizune cried.
"Watch," I pointed down at the blonde Genin. "This is his mont. Not ours."
Down below, the canon events played out in all their dramatic, shonen glory. Kabuto drove a kunai directly through Naruto's hand. Naruto didn't flinch. He used the pinned hand to trap Kabuto in place, ford a shadow clone with his free hand, and concentrated his swirling chakra into a perfect, devastating sphere.
"RASENGAN!"
Naruto slamd the sphere directly into Kabuto's stomach. The sheer rotational force sent the Sound ninja spiraling through the air like a broken ragdoll, crashing into a boulder with a sickening crunch.
Naruto collapsed backward, his chakra completely exhausted, his heart muscles tearing from Kabuto's prior attacks.
Tsunade watched the blonde kid fall, her amber eyes wide with absolute shock. He had protected her. He had mastered the jutsu. He had laid his life on the line without a second of hesitation.
The psychological dam broke.
"Naruto!" Tsunade scread, diving forward.
The fear of blood evaporated, replaced by the blazing, undeniable Will of Fire. She placed her hands over Naruto's heart, glowing green dical chakra pouring from her palms, forcibly regenerating his torn tissues.
"I've got you," she cried, tears streaming down her face as the boy's heartbeat stabilized. "You're not dying here. You're going to be Hokage."
Up on the cliff, I pulled an apple from my inventory, took a loud crunching bite, and smiled.
[System Notification]
[Mission 1 Progress: The Blood Cured Princess - COMPLETE.]
[Tsunade's Hemophobia is cured. Combat potential: 100%.]
"Perfect," I muttered. "The protagonist did all the heavy lifting. I love it when a plan cos together."
"She did it..." Shizune breathed, wiping tears from her own eyes.
Down in the ruins, Orochimaru sneered, realizing the psychological warfare had failed.
"You always were a stubborn woman, Tsunade," Orochimaru hissed, turning his head to his bleeding subordinate. "Kabuto. Use your blood. Summon him."
"Right away, Lord Orochimaru," Kabuto gasped, saring his blood on his master's snake tattoo.
"Oh, it's on now!" Jiraiya yelled, biting his thumb and drawing blood. "Shizune! Get down there and protect Naruto!"
Jiraiya leaped off the cliff. Tsunade, her eyes burning with newfound resolve, bit her own thumb.
"SUMMONING JUTSU!"
Three massive clouds of white smoke exploded simultaneously, shaking the very bedrock of the ruins. The three-way deadlock of the Legendary Sannin was finally realized.
Gamabunta, the giant, pipe-smoking Toad Boss, landed with a heavy thud, drawing his wakizashi.
Katsuyu, the massive, serene blue-and-white slug, materialized beneath Tsunade, radiating gentle, healing chakra.
And from Orochimaru's smoke erged a nightmare.
Manda, the Boss of the Snake Contract. He was unimaginably huge, covered in thick, purple scales, his massive yellow eyes slitted and filled with pure malice. He hissed, a sound that chilled the air itself.
"Orochimaru," Manda's voice was a dark, rumbling threat. "You dared to summon without preparing a hundred human sacrifices? I should eat you right now."
"I will give you three hundred if you kill them, Manda," Orochimaru promised from atop the snake's head.
"Deal," Manda hissed, his massive tail whipping through the air, shattering a cliffside.
I stood alone on the remaining high ground, tossing my apple core over the edge.
I watched the giant toad, the giant slug, and the giant snake posture for battle. Manda was fast, lethal, and incredibly arrogant. He was going to be a massive problem.
I could summon Doom, I thought, tapping my chin. But Doom is an A-Rank. Manda is an S-Rank boss summon. Doom could burn him, but the size difference is too great. No... this requires a personal touch.
I stepped off the edge of the cliff.
I didn't fall. I let my [Gar's Body] and raw Uzumaki chakra propel forward.
[Skill: Body Flicker (Shunshin)]
I vanished from the sky.
Down below, Manda reared his massive head back, preparing to launch a devastating, venomous strike against Katsuyu and Tsunade.
"Die, you pathetic insects!" Manda roared.
POP.
I materialized directly in the air, right in front of Manda's gargantuan, yellow right eye.
The giant snake froze, his slitted pupil focusing on the tiny, floating human in a crimson silk suit.
"A snack?" Manda hissed, opening his massive jaws.
"Shut up, you oversized belt," I said coldly.
I didn't use ninjutsu. I didn't need it.
I pulled my right arm back.
[Skill: Armant Haki (Hardening) - Maximum Density.]
My arm didn't just turn black; it seed to absorb the ambient light, radiating a terrifying, oppressive weight.
[Passive: Gar's Mind - Killing Intent (MAX Output).]
I unleashed the full, suffocating weight of my Killing Intent directly onto the snake. It wasn't the killing intent of a ninja; it was the pure, multiversal dominance of the System.
Manda flinched. For a fraction of a second, the Boss of the Snakes felt the primal, icy grip of absolute terror.
I drove my Haki-coated fist directly into the space between Manda's eyes.
KABOOOOOOOM!
The impact was cataclysmic.
A shockwave of compressed air exploded outward, flattening the rubble for hundreds of yards. The sheer, concentrated kinetic energy of the blow cracked Manda's supposedly impenetrable purple scales.
The massive snake didn't just stop his attack. He was violently derailed. The force of my punch sent his gargantuan head slamming directly into the rocky ground, burying his snout deep into the bedrock.
The entire battlefield went dead silent.
Gamabunta's pipe nearly fell out of his mouth. Katsuyu's antennae twitched in shock. Orochimaru, standing on top of Manda's head, nearly lost his footing, his snake-like eyes widening in sheer disbelief.
Tsunade, standing atop her slug, stared up at as I drifted gracefully down to the ground, landing lightly on my feet in front of her. My crimson suit was completely unruffled.
"Kenji?!" Tsunade gasped, her amber eyes perfectly round. "How the hell did you just... you punched Manda into the dirt!"
I turned around, putting my hands in my pockets, flashing the newly-minted Fifth Hokage a devastatingly confident, proprietary smirk.
"I told you, Princess," I said, my voice carrying effortlessly across the silent battlefield. "I'm the guy who handles your debts. And right now, this snake is costing you precious ti."
I looked up at Orochimaru, my eyes narrowing.
"Now, Orochimaru," I called out. "Are you going to slither away like a good little reptile, or do I need to turn your favorite pet into a pair of matching boots for Tsunade and Shizune?"
