Three days passed in a flash, and the village was anything but quiet.

On the first day, the news hit Konoha like wildfire... Tsunade was returning to take the mantle of the Fifth Hokage.

The whole village buzzed with gossip. From the market streets to the training grounds, every ninja and civilian could talk of nothing else.

"Did you hear? Lady Tsunade is going to be the next Hokage!"

"Seriously? One of the Legendary Sannin?"

"Why did the Third step down so fast, though? I know he got hurt during the Chunin Exams, but still..."

Shock echoed through the streets, but the surprise quickly lted into excitent.

"It's Lady Tsunade! The greatest dical ninja in the world!"

"Our hospitals are going to get so much better with her in charge, right?"

"It's not just her dical skills—her strength is top-tier! Plus, she'll be Konoha's first female Hokage!"

The lingering anxiety left behind by the Konoha Crush Plan finally started to fade. The villagers desperately needed a strong leader right now, and Tsunade's na was like a shot of adrenaline.

As for the Third Hokage stepping down, people felt more nostalgia than anger.

Hiruzen Sarutobi had ruled for a long ti. Given his old age, many secretly felt it was ti for a change anyway.

No one could deny that he had protected the village till now, and choosing to retire now only made the old man look more dignified.

"The Fifth will definitely get us better terms in the Suna negotiations, right?"

"Of course! Lady Tsunade won't let anyone push Konoha around."

"Maybe she can even bring us lasting peace..."

Hope hung heavy in the air.

By the second day, the village was completely focused on the upcoming inauguration. The Hokage Building was a blur of frantic activity.

People rushed in and out, drowning in mountains of paperwork to finalize ceremony procedures, security plans, and guest lists.

Then ca the third day.

Morning sunlight bathed Konoha, shining down on a massive crowd already packed into the plaza below the Hokage Building.

Civilians and ninja, young and old, ford a dense sea of people that spilled out of the square and into the surrounding streets.

Thousands of eyes looked up at the high balcony.

Slowly, the Third Hokage stepped forward into the light, holding the red Hokage hat in his hands.

"Tsunade," Hiruzen said, offering her the hat. "I am entrusting Konoha to you."

Tsunade stared at the hat. For a mont, she was completely silent. Then, she reached out and took it, surprised by how heavy it felt in her hands.

She looked up at Hiruzen with a wry smile.

"Honestly, I really didn't want this job." She paused, her gaze shifting to the young figure standing behind the old man. "If you had just held on for a few more years, Sensei... and let Shinichi take over, that would have been perfect."

Hiruzen blinked in surprise before bursting into a hearty laugh.

"He'll take over sooner or later," Hiruzen replied. "But until then, I'm hoping you can fill the seat. Let this old man get so proper rest and enjoy whatever ti he has left."

Tsunade's eyes softened. Without another word, she lifted the hat and placed it firmly on her head. The wide white brim pressed down, shadowing her eyes.

She turned to face the dense crowd below the balcony and grabbed the edge of the hat.

"I am Tsunade!" her voice rang out across the plaza. "From this day forward, I will protect the Hidden Leaf! I am your Fifth Hokage!"

For a split second, there was total silence.

Then, the crowd erupted. The sheer force of the cheering surged toward the sky, so loud it rattled the windows of the Hokage Building.

"Fifth Hokage!"

"Lady Tsunade!"

Up on the balcony, Jiraiya watched the boiling sea of people below. A genuine smile spread across his face.

"Heh. Typical Tsunade," he muttered to himself.

Then, he noticed Shinichi standing beside him, staring off into space. Jiraiya stepped closer and slapped a heavy hand onto the boy's shoulder.

"Hey! Shinichi!"

Shinichi blinked, turning to look at Jiraiya in confusion.

"Don't overthink it," Jiraiya said, leaning in. "You might have the strength and the skills, but it's still way too early for you to sit in that chair."

Shinichi realized his distracted look had given Jiraiya the wrong idea. Instead of explaining himself, Shinichi's expression shifted, settling into a faint, aningful look.

anwhile, on the roof of the Shimura compound, the wind whipped through the eaves and tugged at the hem of Danzo's wide robes.

He hadn't bothered to attend the inauguration. But since his estate sat in the center of the village, he had a clear view of the distant Hokage Building. The roaring waves of the crowd's cheers carried easily on the wind.

"Fifth Hokage... Tsunade..." The echoes vibrated in the air around him.

Danzo leaned on his cane, his single exposed eye locked on the distant balcony. He had lived a long ti and watched the tides of the village rise and fall.

Hiruzen stepping down, Tsunade taking over... it was just another transition of power.

Just like the Fourth Hokage, twelve years ago.

Danzo looked up. The sun hung high in the sky, blindingly bright. Its rays beat down on his clothes and thick bandages, yet it brought him no warmth.

Instead, a cold chill crawled up his spine. He narrowed his eye.

It was too bright. This kind of unshielded light, this feeling of standing exposed for the whole world to see—it made him deeply uncomfortable.

"Heh." A dry scoff escaped his throat. "Perhaps," Danzo muttered to himself, "I've long since beco accustod to the darkness."

With that, he turned his back on the sun. Leaning heavily on his cane, he made his way down into the dim inner corridors of his ho and entered his study.

Taking a seat at his desk, he sat in silence for a long mont. Then, he pulled open the bottom left drawer and took out a notebook.

Its edges were frayed, the pages yellowed with age. This was his diary—a habit he had kept for decades, and one of his few private indulgences.

Danzo opened the book, picked up a pen, and wrote the date on a fresh page.
