Now reading: Chapter 587: The Perfect Test Subjects from Necromancer: I Am A Disaster, a Fantasy novel by Pig On A Journey.

The Abyss, the Demon Emperor’s Palace.

The Demon Emperor lounged lazily upon his throne, as indifferent as ever.

Below the grand hall was a new captive, another Dragon King, seized for a single purpose: to serve as a source of blood.

Lately, the Demon Emperor had developed a taste for Dragonkind blood. How long that fancy would last was anyone’s guest.

Over the years, his palate had changed many tis.

He tilted his head, his gaze drifting beyond the palace, “That little fellow went to the teorfall Continent, huh?”

“What a pity. With Antares watching over you, I can’t make a move just yet.”

“But when you reach God-level and step into the deep layer… then we’ll have ourselves a proper chat.”

“Still, even if I leave you be, that fool of a Dragon Emperor surely won’t.”

He chuckled softly, eyes gleaming with amusent. This was the look of one eager to watch a good show.

Though his lifespan was not as long as Antares’s, few things in existence could still catch his interest.

Lin Moyu, however, was one of them.

When the Soul Fusion Grand Formation had been activated, the Demon Emperor had secretly left a strand of his aura on Lin Moyu.

It was very faint, yet it allowed him to sense certain things, like when Lin Moyu entered the lower layer of the Immorial Battlefield.

He could even roughly gauge his location.

Yet this ti, the Demon Emperor chose not to pursue.

Given Lin Moyu’s strength, sending ordinary Demon Kings would only waste lives, let alone peak-level Demons

He wasn’t one to throw away troops as cannon fodder.

At minimum, only soone on the level of the Darkfiend King could threaten Lin Moyu.

But Demon Kings were restricted, unable to move freely within the lower layer.

So the Demon Emperor decided to wait, until Lin Moyu ascended to God-level and entered the deep layer.

Then, and only then, would their eting take place.

However, a single piece of information slipped through, spreading swiftly from the Abyss to the Dragonkind World.

Just one day after Lin Moyu arrived on the teorfall Continent, the Dragon Emperor received the news.

And his hatred for Lin Moyu burned even fiercer than the Demon Emperor’s.

That Law Crystal had destroyed his palace, and, worse, humiliated his pride.

The Dragon Emperor gave a single order.

The entire Dragonkind mobilized.

A storm of undead aura roared before Lin Moyu, swirling like a black tornado wreathed in fire.

At its center stood a massive, headless figure astride a skeletal warhorse.

The mount alone stood three ters tall—a hill of bone and burning silver-white fla.

The fire wrapped around it like molten armor.

It was a level 70 Headless Knight, and it looked every bit the part of a boss monster, its attributes even surpassing many.

[Headless Knight]

[Level: 70]

[Strength: 1,080,000]

[Agility: 640,000]

[Spirit: 640,000]

[Physique: 1,280,000]

[Skill: Charge, Group Defense, Immunity]

[Charge: charges at a speed of 3,000 ters per second, dealing damage equal to 5 tis the strength attribute to all enemies along the path. Cooldown: 1 minute.] ꭆ𝔞ΝօʙÈ𝙨

[Group Defense: creates a defensive formation that stacks with allies of the sa unit type, increasing overall defense.]

[Immunity (passive): grants immunity to all negative statuses.]

The attributes were astounding.

It possessed slightly greater strength than the Skeletal Berserk Warrior and a far superior physique, a fitting form for a Knight.

With three formidable skills, it completely outclassed the Skeletal Berserk Warrior.

While Charge lacked the explosive power of its counterpart, it excelled in pursuit and mobility, making it devastating in large-scale assaults.

And with just a one-minute cooldown, it could be unleashed repeatedly.

Group Defense marked a historic milestone; the first defensive skill among the undead troops.

Until now, they had relied solely on raw attributes.

Now, they finally had a stackable, skill-based defense, proving it was far from weak.

Then ca Immunity—Lin Moyu couldn’t help but feel a surge of joy.

Immunity to all negative statuses—complete resistance to control—made the Headless Knight a true all-rounder.

No matter the foe, they could fight on equal footing.

Though not flawless, the Headless Knight was a monuntal addition to the undead army, plugging its defensive gap and enhancing its charging ability in large-scale battles.

Lin Moyu didn’t know what enemies awaited him, but one thing was certain.

The more complete his undead army beca, the better prepared he’d be.

It took him two full days to max out the Headless Knight.

During that ti, he multitasked—grinding and summoning troops to replenish his ranks.

Upon reaching level 70, the undead army’s numbers soared, from 86,730 at level 69 to 120,000.

The undead army comprised four unit types: Skeletal Berserk Warrior, Skeletal Great Mage, Skeletal Marksman, and Headless Knight, with 30,000 of each.

When fully assembled, the undead army’s might would be terrifying, worthy of the title undead army.

Yet Lin Moyu remained unmoved.

Compared to the countless undead he had glimpsed during his class awakening, this was nothing.

“Let’s continue.”

He imdiately began grinding his second skill.

Skill: Undead Gaze.

[Undead Gaze (level 1): summons the Undead Eye that ignites undying fire, inflicting soul damage to the target. Damage scales with skill level and soul strength.]

As the skill activated, the sky darkened, and a phantom undead world appeared in the air, filled with countless wailing undead.

Silver-white flas roared, consuming skeletal remains everywhere.

The blazing fire incinerated everything, and even souls weren’t safe from its grasp.

Just gazing upon that phantom world made one feel as if their own soul were ablaze.

Then, within the flas, a massive black door appeared, wreathed in silver-white fire.

As it opened, an enormous eye erged. It was a pure white eye burning with fire.

Lin Moyu’s heart skipped a beat.

What kind of eye was this? It was terrifying.

The eye gazed upon the world, devoid of emotion, cold to the extre.

No matter the angle, it felt as though it were watching you.

Even Lin Moyu, its caster, felt a sting in his soul upon seeing it.

“This skill is powerful.”

“Far more powerful than Soul Blaze.”

That was his first thought; instinct told him this skill held imnse potential.

And this was only level 1. What kind of destruction would it unleash at level 70?

Perhaps it could be the ultimate weapon to replace Soul Blaze.

Any skill that attacked the soul was terrifying.

Thrumming with excitent, Lin Moyu continued to grind, casting Undead Gaze again and again.

Unfortunately, only one Undead Gaze could exist at a ti. Otherwise, the skill’s power would have reached an even greater height.

As he grinded, black clouds thickened overhead.

The air grew heavy, light itself swallowed by darkness for ten thousand ters around.

Only teors occasionally pierced the gloom, their flashes brief and futile against the undead black mist.

Amid the suffocating black mist, Lin Moyu stood unmoving, surrounded by Headless Knights wreathed in silver flas, like a dark monarch.

For two days, he remained motionless, casting without pause, until Undead Gaze reached level 70.

The skill’s spirit force drain was imnse. Without his Comprehensive Link talent, the process would’ve taken far longer.

His three talents were incredibly powerful, each one indispensable.

Lin Moyu’s will coalesced in midair, and he cast the maxed out Undead Gaze.

The phantom undead world descended once more, engulfing an area of several thousand ters.

Undying black mist surged, and a thirty-ter-tall gate of fire split the air.

From within, a colossal eye opened, gazing coldly upon the world.

Then, Lin Moyu sensed sothing.

From afar, Dragonkind auras approached at high speed.

“Interesting… the Dragonkind have found .”

A faint smile touched his lips.

“Perfect timing. I needed soone to test my skill.”

They had co to him, right into his waiting hands.

The perfect test subjects.
