Lu Murphy?

A detective straight out of a hardboiled cri novel?

When the audience in the live broadcast room heard this, they collectively froze. The idea alone was absurd enough — but the reality of it was pure madness.

The very concept and capabilities of a Pataphysical Entity went far beyond anything the average person could comprehend.

A fictional character from a book appearing in the real world… and then killing the very author who created him?

Was there anything more unreal than that?

Yet, amid their shock, the audience's expressions shifted. Curiosity was winning over disbelief. Excitent lit their faces.

Who exactly was this mysterious Lu Murphy?

Under the expectant eyes of millions, the screen faded to black. Then, slowly, the image brightened again.

When Jas appeared, he was no longer in the sa place. Instead, he stood in a corridor belonging to an unfamiliar departnt.

"Welco to the Pataphysics Departnt."

The speaker was a middle-aged man with a shaved head, a sharply angled face, and a build that suggested he could just as easily own an underground speakeasy as run an official Site. His black uniform was crisp but carried an air of casual rebellion.

"I'm August, Director of Site-95. The head of the Pataphysics Departnt is Dr. Penelope Panagiotopolous, but she's tied up with sothing big — Operation Hyperdinsional — and can't greet you personally."

Jas shook his hand. "Sorry… did you just say 'Hyperdinsional Operation'?"

"Oh, that's our latest program," August replied as they began walking deeper into the facility. "It's based on our research into SCP-1304, SCP-2916-1, and SCP-2747. We've concluded that lower-level narrative entities can interfere with — and even escape into — higher-level realities."

Jas already knew the basics from O5-10, so he didn't look surprised. But August wasn't finished.

"Using SCP-826, our people developed the Kuzco–Bueller Procedure. It allows us to extract fictional entities from their narratives… and bring them into our reality."

Jas slowed his steps. "…You're telling you can pull characters out of stories?"

The live audience went wild.

"What the hell? They can bring fictional characters into reality?!"

"Pataphysics is insane. INSANE."

"First thing I'm doing is summoning my ani waifu."

"Please, Foundation, make my 2D crush real!"

While the viewers were fantasizing, Nick Fury was having the opposite reaction.

For him, stability and control were everything. Pataphysical entities represented neither. His jaw tightened. The phrase "Hyperdinsional Operation" stuck in his mind, its implications racing ahead of August's words.

August went on. "We're building a task force of extra-narrative entities, mixing them with standard human agents to form a controlled narrative plane — one that can interact with other realities but remain under our jurisdiction."

He smiled faintly. "In simpler terms? We're creating a setting of our own."

Jas's eyes narrowed.

The audience gasped. Defeat magic with magic? Build a narrative army to fight narrative threats? This was next-level thinking.

"How far along are you?" Jas asked.

"Not bad. We have a few promising candidates."

They arrived at an office. After sitting, August accepted two coffees from an assistant, took a long sip, and said, "You've been specially invited by the Council. Your record is… impressive. With your help, we might finally get a handle on SCP-3143."

Jas ignored the flattery. "Tell about SCP-3143."

August passed him a file. Jas flipped it open — and froze.

It wasn't a report. It was a script.

August watched him carefully. It was clear he didn't put much faith in this "guest doctor," even if Jas had just helped contain a supre deity. Fighting a god was one thing; Pataphysics was another.

August began explaining. "We found SCP-3143 after a containnt breach here in 2005. No one fully understands what happened that day. One mont, files on our server were being altered without authorization. Two minutes later… every single staff mber collapsed. Myself included. Caras went down for three hours."

When they woke, the entire site reeked of cigarette smoke and cheap whiskey. Guards were injured. Bullets were lodged in his desk. And — most bizarre of all — SCP-3043 had been shot.

"The only clue we had," August said, "was the updated SCP-3043 docuntation. And by 'updated,' I an… rewritten. A brand-new character had been added: Murphy."

He sighed. "We had no idea who he was. No one rembered him. Yet one of our own had been 'described' into his world."

Jas's brows drew together. "You an soone was written into a lower-level narrative?"

"Yes," August confird. "And now we know — this guy could write real people into his fictional universe."

The chat erupted.

"HOLY— He can change reality and insert you into a book?!"

"That's not just dangerous, that's nightmare fuel."

Even Fury was unsettled. "The Pataphysical Body is too damn tricky… an enemy like that…" He trailed off, uncharacteristically uncertain.

August summarized grimly. "Either he saved us from a major breach… or he wants us to think he did. Either way, we need to know who he is and exactly what he's capable of."

Jas tapped the file. "So… whatever Murphy writes becos reality."

August nodded but warned, "It's not limitless. If it were, Pataphysical Entities could rival — or even surpass — Level 5 Reality Benders in destructive potential."

He gestured for Jas to read.

The mont Jas's eyes touched the page, the office around them vanished.

A new world unfolded physically before the audience's eyes — a monochro landscape sketched in hard, jagged lines like a Chandler detective novel brought to life.

Annotations appeared across the screen:

[INT. Murphy Detective Agency – Night]

A white man leans over a table, reading a newspaper. His felt hat rests beside a half-empty glass. A .44 Magnum sits in a shoulder holster. A bent cigarette droops from his mouth.

His na is Murphy. He's hard as stone, sharp as glass, and just dangerous enough to smile at you while loading his gun.

The raspy voice of a narrator — Murphy himself — cut through the silence:

"You see a lot of ugly things in this line of work. Good people with bellies full of lead. Love turned to rage. Statues that kill with a glance."

The office door burst open.

A black woman in a white lab coat stord in — fierce, intelligent, mid-forties. The annotation labeled her simply: The Researcher.

The audience's excitent began shifting toward unease. Sothing about this lower-narrative world felt… predatory.

In S.H.I.E.L.D. headquarters, Natasha Romanoff narrowed her eyes. "So this is lower-level narration?"

Fury stiffened. A realization hit him like a freight train. "Murphy isn't just a character… he's the narrator. That makes him God in his own reality."

His eyes flicked to the researcher's white coat — the kind issued only to Foundation personnel. His voice dropped. "She's the one who was written into the narrative…"

On cue, Murphy's voice rolled over the scene:

"When it cos to scandals, nothing beats a containnt breach."

Fury's pupils constricted.

The researcher's eyes darted around the black-and-white office. "What… what is going on?"

Murphy's tone turned sly:

"She was the first beauty to rush into my office asking questions."

And just like that, everyone watching understood the stakes — a Pataphysical Entity that could bend worlds, dictate events, and drag real people into his fictional stage.

This wasn't just a threat. This was a god with a typewriter.
