"Don’t run! Stop!" Yang Xiao shouted with determination, feeling the urge to throw his DV cara at Ghost’s head when thinking about his brutally killed teammates.
As the countdown finally ended, the scene before him changed. The strange feeling of palpitation disappeared, and the ash falling from the sky vanished. The world returned to its normal state, resembling nightti.
The deathly silence was shattered. The abandoned factory, soon to be engulfed by night, was far from quiet. The continuous sound of insects joined together, occasionally accompanied by bird calls from afar.
At this mont, Yang Xiao’s legs went weak, almost causing him to fall. His left hand, still holding the DV cara, trembled uncontrollably. He knew he had survived, and so did the others who were left.
"We won..." Yang Xiao, having narrowly escaped death, tilted his head towards the sky, which had now darkened completely as night fell upon the world.
Suddenly, a pang of unease hit Yang Xiao’s heart. He quickly turned back to look in the direction behind him, sensing the reappearance of the exit.
But the location wasn’t close to him. It was at least a few kiloters away, in the direction of the Rongjin Building.
Without any hesitation, Yang Xiao imdiately ran towards it, fearing he wouldn’t make it in ti due to the distance. First, he went to the scrapyard to borrow a motorcycle from the elderly man there.
The old man was initially reluctant to lend it, but he couldn’t refuse the amount Yang Xiao offered.
After a quick familiarization with the bike, Yang Xiao rode off. He had learned to ride a motorcycle during college, taught by a friend.
Speeding along like a flash, he even collided with an old lady crossing the street. Yang Xiao suspected she was faking an accident, but he had no proof.
In about 10 minutes, Yang Xiao arrived at the location of the exit. It was an old Victorian-style building. He was montarily stunned but soon realized that this was Xu Yan’s company.
The exit was right at the gate of this little mansion. Yang Xiao and the others had been here before.
Yang Xiao didn’t leave imdiately. Instead, he stayed, observing the surroundings with a slight sense of urgency.
He was waiting for people—Chen Nang, Jiang Qingluan, and Zhou Hai—they hadn’t arrived yet.
This ti, the exit’s location was quite particular, situated almost at the central point of their three groups. At least, that was how Yang Xiao felt.
About five minutes later, a familiar figure appeared, rushing out of a taxi—it was Chen Nang. Seeing Yang Xiao, Chen Nang imdiately ran towards him.
"Well done!" Chen Nang grinned, giving Yang Xiao an approving look.
"Fortunately, I didn’t let you down." Yang Xiao responded as humbly and reservedly as ever.
"I called Miss Jiang; she’s awake now but not in great shape. Zhou Hai is bringing her here." Chen Nang, knowing what Yang Xiao was waiting for, was aware of the relationship between Yang Xiao and Jiang Qingluan. Zhou Hai could see it, and so could soone as astute as Chen Nang.
"Chen Nang, what did the Patrol Defense Office arrest you for?" Yang Xiao asked.
"I’m innocent," Chen Nang shook his head.
"Since we’ve t, why not share your story? Perhaps we’ll et again in the future." Yang Xiao had a good impression of Chen Nang.
But Chen Nang refused without hesitation, "There’s no need. We’re unlikely to et again in this life. My story isn’t sothing you need to know. I bear no ill will; it just doesn’t benefit you."
"Is Chen Nang your real na?" Yang Xiao asked.
"072134," Chen Nang recited a string of numbers, then gave a self-mocking smile, his gaze turning somber, "Once we get out of here, that’ll be my na. Chen Nang... is already dead."
As they spoke, a black off-road vehicle drove up; it was brutal driving, mounting the steps directly. If Yang Xiao hadn’t dodged quickly, he would have been knocked flying.
With the car door opening, a panicked Zhou Hai jumped out of the driver’s seat, "Co quickly and help!" Zhou Hai shouted, pulling Jiang Qingluan out from the back door. She was still unconscious, looking very pale.
Seeing this, Yang Xiao and Chen Nang imdiately went to help. Yang Xiao hoisted her onto Chen Nang’s back, as Chen Nang was in the best physical condition at that mont.
"Quick... run!" Zhou Hai didn’t waste ti talking to the two, urgently urging them.
Soon, Yang Xiao understood why. A short distance away, two police cars appeared, sirens blaring, racing towards them with flashing lights.
"Damn!" Yang Xiao kind of figured it out; this off-road vehicle had an illegitimate source, probably stolen, leading to the police chase.
Without further hesitation, the four of them dashed toward the exit, rushing through the door before the pursuing police officers could catch up.
