"Is there anyone else who survived this competition besides ?" Yang Xiao looked up at the direction of the loudspeaker and asked, guessing there should be devices like monitors there.

About half a minute later, the cold, chanical synthetic voice rang out again, almost word for word the sa, "Please leave now, the passage will close in 4 minutes, put on your mask, it is your ticket to the next competition."

Without hesitation, Yang Xiao turned and walked away. The night wind was biting, and the academy was very quiet. Back at his place, Yang Xiao checked his phone, and it was nearly three in the morning. His competition had started at two o’clock sharp, and except for the ti spent on the road, the ti he actually spent in the Nightmare World would not exceed half an hour.

But according to his calculation, the ti he spent in the Fishing Village World should have been over three hours.

Leaning on the sofa, Yang Xiao’s body was not too tired, but his head was a bit sore. Physical injuries would heal after leaving, but the consumption of spiritual power was not so easily replenished.

According to the academy, everyone who entered the Nightmare World of Contemplation Pavilion would have their mories erased, but when Yang Xiao closed his eyes, the scenes from the competition were vivid before him. Without asking, it must have been the protection of the Drama Robe, and that green force that opposed the Drama Robe would erase mory.

If he was not mistaken, that piece of Green Jade in the broken house of the small courtyard in the fishing village was the core of the entire Contemplation Pavilion, also known as the Resentful Eye, maintaining this small Nightmare World.

If it were rely mory erasure, Yang Xiao knew the Drama Robe wouldn’t interfere, so that piece of Green Jade must have other functions.

This Ru Lin Academy, together with the other two academies known as the Upper Three Bookshops, truly had hidden dragons and crouching tigers; its heritage was deep and unfathomable.

Take the players competing against Yang Xiao for example, number 127 girl was the weakest, roughly at the Grudge Level Middle to Upper standard, number 24 woman at Grudge Level Upper, number 9 middle-aged man was half a step into the Fierce Grade, and the strongest was number 189 old man, squarely at the Fierce Grade Middle to Upper standard, even if not as powerful as the top-tier Venerable Ones like City God Master or stronger than the likes of Evil Cultivator Elders like Granny Hong, he wielded a sharp Magic Artifact. Even Yang Xiao had suffered a loss under his guard.

To be honest, most of these fellows possessed battle strength above that of Patrol Station Captain Level, and if they combined forces, they could make a na for themselves even in Xiang Ma Town, but they died anonymously in the secretive competition.

After removing the Drama Robe, Yang Xiao planned to take a shower and then rest early, as there might be unforeseen events tomorrow. However, as he undressed and entered the bathroom, catching a glimpse in the mirror’s reflection, he noticed sothing that made his eyes twitch.

With his back to the mirror, he saw an extra palm print at the position of his heart on his back.

The palm print was pitch-black, with long, slender fingers and pronounced knuckles, not resembling a human’s palm print at all but more like the imprint left by a skeleton.

Suddenly, the figure of a thin and rigid ghost from the grey mist world flashed in Yang Xiao’s mind. It had to be it!

When he escaped from the Grey Mist World, a black ghostly hand reached out from the mist towards him, the chilling part was, he clearly rembered that the ghostly hand hadn’t touched him, and yet, it still left a palm mark on his back through the Drama Robe.

What in the world was that thing?

No, correction... what kind of Fierce Ghost was it?

The number 24 woman was killed by it, her cause of death was her own Magic Artifact backfiring, handcuffed and her ankles locked, she was brutally torn to shreds.

Yang Xiao also had a guess about the origins of this ghost, basically two possibilities. First, it was originally part of the Contemplation Pavilion’s Nightmare World in the academy, and the grey mist space that appeared after the collapse of the fishing village was its world.

Second, this creature had nothing to do with the Contemplation Pavilion or even the Ru Lin Academy and was released by him.

But his Mirror World couldn’t possibly contain such a terrifying creature, this thing’s level was far beyond any Mirror Ghosts. The only variable was the copper mirror given to him by the Chamber of Comrce, which he used as a dium for transportation during the mission. That copper mirror was given to him by Mo Daidai’s "dead" and resurrected sister, through the hands of Chamber of Comrce President Chi Hengzhong, and there might just be so conspiracy involved.

However, as soon as this thought appeared, Yang Xiao dismissed it; Mo Daidai calculating against him might be possible, but one should know their own limitations, and he doubted that Mo Daidai would use such a precious thing to sche against him.

Based on Yang Xiao’s guess about that thing, it was probably at least at the Ghost Level pinnacle, or even higher.

"No matter what that thing is, I just don’t want to encounter it again. Let’s stay out of each other’s way."

Staring at the black handprint, Yang Xiao silently prayed in his heart. He ca here to compete, to enter the Small Sutra Pavilion and get the things he wanted, then he’d leave imdiately, certainly not wanting to trouble the old ghost seniors.

Lying on the bed, Yang Xiao tossed and turned, and only when a hint of dawn began to break did he finally start to feel sleepy, dropping off into a doze.

Dreams arise from the heart, and Yang Xiao didn’t sleep well, seeing many strange scenes in his dreams. He dreamt he was back in the small fishing village, walking on muddy paths with mist all around, and decrepit wooden houses faintly visible through the fog.

It was as if guided by sothing, he headed back to the small courtyard at the west end of the village. The courtyard must have just experienced rain, with large puddles scattered about, and several figures stood silent in front of the dilapidated house, their backs to him.
