This was bad…
It quickly dawned on Hua Luo that this was a trap. Just like Jiang Cheng’s group… they had walked into Lin Chen’s painting. Since they were already there, Hua Luo slowly cald down. As he consoled Chu Jiu, he searched the room for clues.
“Don’t be scared.” Hua Luo pulled Chu Jiu to his side. “We can definitely leave. There have to be clues here.”
Seeing his face, Chu Jiu gradually cald down. Hua Luo carefully opened the bookshelf door. They searched the levels one by one for Lin Chen’s script. At that mont, a strange sound ca from behind them. Chu Jiu turned around and tried to use her flashlight, but Hua Luo stopped her.
“Ignore it.” Hua Luo said through heavy breaths. “Focus on the clues.” With his wealth of experience, he knew that the chance of them escaping was minute. The only chance was Lin Chen’s script.
“Found it!” Chu Jiu found an envelope in a small box. The na on it had been blurred out by ti. However, when she touched the envelope, Chu Jiu had a strange feeling in her heart.
With the light, Hua Luo quickly opened the envelope. It didn’t contain any horror story but separate concept art. They were like drafts. There were human hands, shoes, clothes, a deep blue scarf and a black trench coat.
Hua Luo didn’t understand art, but this looked like a dress-up ga for girls. Soon, he understood that this was Lin Chen’s original draft for the man in black. He reached the last page. An expected face appeared.
“It really is him!” Chu Jiu’s eyes froze when she saw the man.
The person in the picture wore a black coat and black shoes. In the background, the dark clouds gathered. A lightning strike cut open a gap. The man stood on the rooftop and looked down at the city. The rain poured. His sideburns were drenched by rain. A handso side profile was revealed. Underneath the rim of the cap was a pair of deep red eyes.
It was really… Wu.
He was the scariest and most formidable presence in this mission. He was the source of all the horror stories. He was created by Lin Chen due to her extre despair in the real world. In other words, Wu was a monster that crawled out of Lin Chen’s despair. The purpose of his existence was to create more horror stories to generate more despair. He would use black flas to cleanse this city in Lin Chen’s heart.
“Look!” Chu Jiu suddenly exclaid, “The… back of the painting!”
Hua Luo turned the canvas around. There was another painting behind it. It was a man wearing a beige coat and blue scarf. He looked just like Wu!
However, this man didn’t have the murderous intent in his eyes. In its place was a sense of grace. He looked rather cute.
The next second, Hua Luo understood it. Both sides of the painting were Wu. This represented Wu’s dual sides. Kindness and brutality were a thought apart. Lin Chen created Wu in extre despair, but even the flower of hope could bloom in despair. This Wu, with a shy smile, was the last ray of hope in the dark. The dead Lin Chen ca to find this drawing!
When they handed this painting to Lin Chen, they might chase away the despair in her heart to summon her forr self. Only she could deal with Wu, the man whom she had created. At that mont, the world spun. Hua Luo subconsciously reached out to grab Chu Jiu’s hand. Then, they appeared in a car. The car drove down a dark and long tunnel. It was a taxi.
“What… is going on?” The driver’s voice trembled from fear. “I’ve used this tunnel many tis. I used it last week. It wasn’t this long. Why haven’t we reached the exit?” The driver stepped wildly on the pedal. The engine howled from the load. The taxi had reached its limit. Driving so quickly in the tunnel was courting death, but Hua Luo and Chu Jiu didn’t object. They understood that they had entered another horror story.
A shadow flickered beside them.
“Did… you see that?” Through the rear-view mirror, the driver’s eyes bulged with fear. He yelled, “Soone was standing by the tunnel wall.”
“I didn’t see anything.” Hua Luo comforted the driver, encouraging him to drive safely. “Focus on driving.” He warned, “Pay attention to the road.”
Chu Jiu was so scared that her gaze shifted. She naturally saw the person by the road. It was a woman in a blood-red dress. Hua Luo knew this horror story. It was Chen Yi’s story. Based on the story, they would be trapped in this endless tunnel until they died.
“Ah!” The driver scread, “It was a woman in red. We’ve seen her more than once already!”
Soon, the driver realised the situation was worse than he thought. The woman suddenly appeared behind the cab. At first, she was a blurry shadow, but as ti passed, she ca closer and closer.
40 tres.
30 tres.
And eventually 20 tres…
Chu Jiu could barely hold her tears in. Despite the dim lighting, she recognised the pale woman as Chen Yi with a glance. The scariest thing was that Chen Yi’s head was twisted 180 degrees around her neck. She couldn’t be more dead. Sister Chen Yi was dead and beca a new horror story.
Hua Luo’s brain churned as he tried to co up with a solution. He had read this tunnel story not too long ago. He knew that the only way to leave the tunnel was to leave soone behind… Just like what Chen Yi had done.
“We can’t leave. We can’t…” The driver broke down when he saw the approaching ghost. Then, he opened the door and jumped out. The driver was consud by the darkness. It was hard to tell if he survived.
However, even without a driver, the cab didn’t lose control. It kept flying at an incredible speed.
Hua Luo pressed his lips as his eyes settled on Chu Jiu.
