“You have no idea how scared I was.” There were tear stains on Wang Changguo’s face. After he was kicked out of the elevator by Jiang Chang, half of his soul was gone. He curled up on the floor, thinking that he was dead.
He knelt and kept kowtowing, claiming that he still had parents and children to look after. His tears fell like rain. It was unclear if this trick worked on the ghost, but it had always worked on the elders who lived alone.
When Wang Changguo planned to regale his teammates with his experience, he suddenly stopped. He realised his five teammates’ eyes lit up when they saw him, especially Jiang Cheng’s.

Before Wang Changguo could react, Jiang Cheng rushed forward to grab his arm. “Are you alright?” He said with concern, “We were worried that you had died.”
This statent sounded strange. It didn’t sit right with Wang Changguo. Worried that he had died… Shouldn’t they just be worried in general?
Regardless, Wang Changguo was sincerely afraid of Jiang Cheng. Seeing how kind Jiang Cheng was, Wang Changguo tried to go along with it. Kui Yi added, “Mr Wang, your timing is perfect. We found an important clue.” The group worked together to persuade Wang Changguo. Wang Changguo was intrigued. “The mad nurse in Room 409 left an important clue?! And the person who found the clue will survive and leave this place?!” Wang Changguo narrowed his gaze.
“That’s right.” Cao Yang nodded seriously.
“Then, why don’t you go get the clue?” Wang Changguo questioned. After years of scamming others, he was not so easily scamd.
“We’re not the ones being targeted by the ghost.” Jiang Cheng shrugged.
Wang Changguo was stunned. He asked incredulously, “What do you an?”
Lin Wan ‘Er, who was next to Jiang Cheng, ‘accidentally’ nudged Jiang Cheng’s arm. Jiang Cheng quickly stopped talking. Wang Changguo naturally spotted this. “You…” He pointed at Lin Wan ‘Er accusingly. “I saw you touch him. Don’t lie to … Why did you touch him? Are you planning sothing? What are you hiding from ?” Wang Changguo beca agitated. “I’m telling you. I’m not easily tricked!”
“I didn’t do anything.” Lin Wan ‘Er glanced at Wang Changguo. This made Wang Changguo pull his finger back in fear.
Kui Yi noticed how anxious Wang Changguo was, and he quickly consoled him, “Mr Wang, don’t worry. Brother Jiang accidentally let sothing slip. He didn’t an it.”

Wang Changguo’s lips quivered. His face paled. He looked at Cao Yang probingly and realised that the latter was also silently watching him. However, as their eyes t, Cao Yang instantly looked away.
Sothing was definitely wrong with these people! What was hiding in Room 409? Was he really targeted by the ghost? He had to survive. He had to live!
He looked around before settling on Yu Yu, who hadn’t said a word. This girl was young and innocent.
In Wang Changguo’s eyes, she was a child he could see through easily.
Yu Yu stood the furthest away from him. She kept her head lowered. Her fingers grabbed her shirt. She rubbed the fabric like a flustered child. She was hiding sothing. Wang Changguo narrowed his eyes. She would be his opening!
“Sister Yu Yu,” Wang Changguo began. His tone was pleading. “What is going on with Room 409?” Wang Changguo asked. He noticed astutely that when he asked the question, Yu Yu’s fingers stopped moving, but her head moved lower. She had to know sothing!
“Sister Yu Yu, do you rember how I cared for you when we first arrived? I fetched the water for you and even finished the cup noodles you were about to waste.” Wang Changguo sounded like an elder on his deathbed. “Little Sister, I don’t mind dying. My life doesn’t matter, but what about my kid?” Wang Changguo’s eyes watered. He choked. “She just started primary school. I wish to be there for her. When she grows up, I’m sure she’ll be as pretty as you. So, I’m begging you. Think of your father who gave everything to raise you…” Wang Changguo was a masterful actor. He used similar words to make elders who lacked love from their children willingly open their wallets to buy supplents from him.
Finally…
“Stop!” Yu Yu raised her head. Her eyes were red. It looked like she had been crying. Yu Yu hissed through her teeth. “Brother Wang, the ghost has painted a target on your back! If you wish to live, you have to try your luck in Room 409.”
“Are you serious?!” Wang Changguo’s face dropped.
“Yu Yu!” Cao Yang growled angrily, “Why would you tell him that?”
However, Yu Yu reacted more drastically than he anticipated. She was indignant that people would gang up to scam Wang Changguo. “Cao Yang, I’m telling you!” Yu Yu’s furious gaze scanned everyone. “Don’t push it! Even though Brother Wang’s chance of survival is slim, we cannot lie to him like this!
“He has the right to choose how he dies!”
Wang Changguo’s knees wobbled, and he almost fell.
“Brother Wang,” Yu Yu turned to face him. Her eyes shone with determination. “Don’t listen to them. They want you to go there, so you shall not do it!
“You might have a chance at survival if you go to Room 409, but I know Brother Wang is not soone who’d be manipulated by others!
“You are a warrior with love in your heart!” Yu Yu looked into his eyes. “Please hold onto your dignity and face death head-on!”
“No…” Wang Changguo almost cried. He turned to head down the stairs. “I think I’ll go to Room 904… I an, 409. By the way, can one of you tell which floor the room is on? Can I still make it if I start running now?”
