Nikke, something’s seriously wrong with this evacuation point! Chapter 131 131: The Top Floor
Whose voice was that?
Charon didn't know. But for so reason, he no longer felt like joking around.
He couldn't tell that voice that he rembered nothing. He himself was soone without a past.
Sensei, Commander, Player… none of those were truly him.
But he didn't care about that. If soone spends every day obsessing over finding where they belong inside, then they're probably too well-fed and don't have enough work to do.
As long as Kivotos continued to exist within Zone One, then after he completed his current objectives, he would eventually spend ti uncovering the truth behind all of this.
But that wasn't important right now.
「Charon, the data is stacking up! It's pushing us upward!」Rose's voice sounded panicked.「Hold on tight. This thing is going to get very fast!」
Only then did Charon snap back to reality. The slight gloom lingering in his heart was temporarily pushed aside as he snorted confidently.
Fast? Just how fast could it possib–HOLY SHIT!
The mont he realized the elevator beneath his feet had begun accelerating upward like a rocket, his entire body was slamd against the floor.
The acceleration was so intense that even Charon couldn't keep his footing.
Fortunately, after reaching a certain speed, the elevator stopped accelerating and continued its ascent at a constant velocity–though without any reference points, Charon had no way of telling how fast they were moving.
"Damn, this speed… how fast are we actually going?!"
「One hundred floors. In just those few seconds, we already passed a hundred floors. We're currently above floor 130.」Rose still sounded shaken.「If we were climbing normally, reaching this height would probably take us days!」
All the trials, suffering, and monsters generated from the data of the Shittim Chest were left far behind by this miraculous elevator.
"Looks like we really did get lucky this ti. Soone actually wanted to help us." Charon let out a quiet sigh and silently tightened his grip on his gun.
「That voice… who exactly was she…?」Rose sounded deeply confused.「You used to be a Sensei too?」
"Nothing in your database?"
「No. I'm certain of it. But the remaining data is incomplete to begin with. Maybe that information was part of what got lost. Still… she seed to know you. Could you really be Kivotos's sensei?」
"I don't know." Charon shook his head, but he didn't deny it outright either. "Maybe."
Perhaps he felt that denying it would be too cruel to that mysterious voice. Since he himself didn't know the truth yet, silence was the better choice.
「I seriously can't imagine soone with your IQ teaching anything. Unless it's gun-handling posture.」
"Heh. As if they'd need to teach tha–"
Charon abruptly stopped mid-sentence.
Why did I say that so naturally?
「Charon? What about them? Finish your sentence.」Rose sounded extrely interested.
"Premium answer: I have no idea."
「?」
The two continued exchanging words while calculating the ti and riding the elevator toward the unknown top floor.
Yet for so reason, Charon felt like he already knew what was waiting for him at the end.
The elevator began to slow down.
Charon slowly stood up and tightened his grip on his weapon. Up ahead, there would most likely be another brutal battle.
Ding–
With that familiar sound, the elevator finally ca to a stop.
Before Charon stretched a corridor leading toward an unknown area.
"Rose, what floor are we on now?"
「The data here is far too chaotic. I lost the ability to calculate the floor count over ten minutes ago. But conservatively speaking… we're above floor 4000.」
"Looks like even my previous estimate was too optimistic." Charon gave a bitter laugh. "Jesus Christ… this place is actually beatable? Yeah right."
「Congratulations, Charon. In less than ten hours, you reached a place that would normally require thousands–maybe tens of thousands–of hours to reach. And you only get one chance.」
Charon turned around.
The elevator they had ridden was already gone.
Just like that voice had said–there was only one chance.
If they failed here, then reaching this height again would likely require climbing floor by floor all over again.
「Then let's–」
"Wait. We need to regroup first."
Just as Rose was about to press forward, Charon suddenly stopped her.
"How could I forget sothing this important?"
「Forget what?」
"I'm not doing a knife run. I'm fully geared this ti." Charon looked sowhat embarrassed. "I completely forgot I still had armor repair kits, stimulants, and support items. Anyway, give a mont to prep."
「…?」
So Rose watched as Charon injected dicine into himself, repaired his armor, and loaded himself up with combat stimulants and resistance injectors.
Only after finishing all preparations did he finally stand up again.
"Now I'm fully stocked."
With everything prepared, he continued forward with heavy footsteps until he reached the door at the end of the corridor.
Then he kicked it open.
Inside the door…
No. More accurately–
Outside the door.
The instant it opened, a wave of noise crashed into him: explosions, roaring engines, gunfire, and screams echoed nonstop.
This was absolutely not so academy city.
At the very least, nothing like this belonged in a school.
Mass-produced humanoid robots, ghosts with halos above their heads, monsters wreathed in ghostly flas… countless different factions clashed in a chaotic urban battlefield beneath a familiar blue sky.
Those with firepower used firepower.
Those without it used supernatural abilities.
Yes–the top floor wasn't indoors, nor was it so liminal space.
It was simply one corner of a city.
A city that looked exactly like the maps from the massive battlefield shooters Charon had played countless tis before.
"Rose, finding the route is your job."
Charon made his decision instantly and sprinted forward, diving into cover ahead of him.
At the exact sa mont, the doorway he had erged from exploded behind him.
"Even RPGs are showing up now. This Level-6 armor probably can't tank many hits. Anyway, just find a path!"
「Searching, hold on… Got it! Seven o'clock direction!」
Charon imdiately looked behind him.
In the direction Rose indicated stood a familiar building.
Isn't that a scaled-down version of the Schale building?
No…
The one outside was the enlarged version.
This one was the original.
"Got it." A familiar savage grin spread across Charon's face. "Ti to clear the map."
We're already at the final stretch.
And I still have a whole pile of gold-tier bullets in my inventory.
Guess what those bullets were saved for?
No matter what happened, he absolutely refused to fall before the final step.
Whatever awaited him ahead would simply be reduced to Swiss cheese by overwhelming firepower.
Five seconds later, amid a battlefield already consud by chaos, another monster suddenly joined the fray.
His firepower surpassed everyone else's.
His mobility was absurd.
Even when enemies tried focusing their attacks on him, they usually couldn't even locate his position.
And by the ti they did–
they had already been riddled with bullets.
Charon bulldozed his way forward like that until he finally arrived at the entrance of the building.
Behind him lay nothing but a field of loot boxes too worthless to even bother searching.
