Why is she suddenly angry?

Charon was a little confused, but whether she was angry or not, he still had to figure out what this was all about.

He removed the Shittim Chest from the slot. The light inside the room did not disappear, because inserting it had only been a form of authentication. Once activated, it had already linked itself with the entire shelter system, so it no longer needed to stay inserted.

And now, the Shittim Chest still displayed that azure-blue interface, except there were now several additional options.

In the top-left corner was Charon's na.

At the bottom were several nu options in order: [Shelter], [mbers], [Shop], and [Recovery].

Opening [Shelter] revealed a secondary nu: [Living Area], [dical Center], [Warehouse], [Mission Board], [Operations Command Room], and [Departure].

Charon instantly understood.

This thing had actually integrated all the shelter's facilities into a single intuitive interface. There were now places he no longer had to physically visit just to check on.

After tapping around a bit more, Charon more or less figured out how it worked.

However, the only features that could truly be used remotely were accepting missions through the [Mission Board], transferring supplies between the [Warehouse] and inventory, and purchasing items from the [Shop]. There was no need to go to the vending machines personally anymore; purchased items would appear directly inside the system inventory.

As for the other functions, they were mostly just for checking whether sothing had malfunctioned.

Under [mbers], he could view the basic information of players who had already bound their dog tags. Private information was hidden. At the mont, there were only two mbers: "Charon" and "Sleeping Beauty."

As for the final option, [Recovery], that was the only thing Charon knew absolutely nothing about.

Because that was where the gacha interface ca from.

After opening it, the screen displayed nothing except a single button labeled [Draw Once], with a considerate little note underneath:

100,000 Zero Coins per draw.

"Wait!"

Just as Charon was about to grit his teeth and press it, Rose–who had supposedly gone off to play gas–suddenly ca rushing back. Her cheeks were puffed up like little balloons.

"Y-you're not seriously going to pull, are you?" she asked, releasing a long breath as though clinging to her final shred of hope.

"If this feature exists, why wouldn't I use it?" Charon looked genuinely puzzled. "The way you're talking makes it sound like you know what's going to co out."

"..." Rose rubbed her hair, hesitated for a while, then finally let out a defeated sigh. "Fine. This was going to happen sooner or later anyway."

Then she quietly muttered under her breath:

"I thought we'd at least get to enjoy the two-person world a little longer…"

Charon didn't hear her clearly and reminded her, "What'd you say? Louder."

"Shut up, I didn't say anything! Anyway, just do one pull already and I'll explain afterward!"

Seeing her reaction, Charon nodded.

She's definitely nervous about this.

That ans I absolutely have to pull now.

One hundred thousand Zero Coins wasn't even that much. A quick trip through Region Zero would earn enough for five or six pulls.

And then, he pressed the button.

A plain, unremarkable blue flash appeared.

Rose's figure suddenly popped up on the screen, holding a golden envelope in her hand before slamming it dramatically onto the center of the display.

Imdiately afterward, the Shittim Chest burst forth with golden light, which shot toward the floor at incredible speed. Golden particles rapidly reconstructed themselves, and with a soft pop, a tiny figure appeared.

It was a chibi little girl with gray wolf ears and a blue scarf. She held a chibi assault rifle in her hands and blinked in confusion.

[Na: Shiroko]

[Rarity: ★★★]

[Tactical Role: Assault]

"Pff–"

If Charon hadn't currently been drinking nothing, he would have absolutely spit it out.

"Cough–what... what is this kid?!" Charon's face was full of shock. "The gacha is actually serious?! It summoned a tiny little person?! And there's even a na and profile?! Shiroko?!"

He hurriedly looked toward the [mbers] tab on the Shittim Chest and noticed that below the player section was now a separate category.

Unlike Charon and Rose, who were listed as "Players," this new category was labeled:

Students.

"Mhm..."

Shiroko toddled over on her short little legs–tap tap tap–wrapped her arms around Charon's leg, and looked up at him.

And sohow, Charon could actually read the aning in that chibi face:

"Leave the fighting to ."

"..." Rose had already started grinding her teeth. "So it really did appear after all."

"So what exactly is going on?"

Charon picked little Shiroko up. She showed absolutely no resistance and instead grabbed onto his shoulder with her tiny gloved hands. Her face still remained expressionless.

But she was ridiculously cute.

Seriously.

This tiny thing was absurdly cute.

She seed to notice Rose's slightly unwilling expression, looked at Charon, and calmly uttered a simple:

"Mhm."

Charon instantly understood.

So he put little Shiroko back down and watched as the tiny thing went tap tap tap over toward Rose.

"H-hey, what are you trying to do? I'm telling you right now, I'm not going to lose to–eeep?!"

Before Rose could finish, little Shiroko stretched out her arms and hugged her.

Because Rose herself was already quite petite, Shiroko ended up hugging her around the waist directly. The oversized chibi head buried itself against her and rubbed back and forth, while the wolf ears atop her head twitched slightly.

In that instant, Charon saw Rose's expression completely freeze.

Clearly, no human being could resist the affectionate attack of a cute little creature.

Rose: defeated.

Little Shiroko released Rose, then returned to Charon's side, hands on her hips, looking up at him proudly while letting out another calm:

"Mhm."

"Actually," Rose said with slightly reddened cheeks–clearly unwilling to admit she'd also been chard just now–"they belong to Kivotos. They're fragnts of data from that academy city package, existing in a form very similar to mine."

"Although I don't know how long it'll take exactly, they can absorb data through combat. Once enough data is restored, they'll regain their mories and return to being their original selves."

Rose's expression grew complicated.

"Congratulations. You've now got another group of data you can save."

"I see..." Charon picked little Shiroko up again. "So the reason she's attached to is?"

"Don't play dumb." Rose rolled her eyes. "Her original motif is a wolf. Wolves are the most sensitive to scent. You should know perfectly well why she likes you."

"Still, even though they aren't very strong right now, they can grow stronger through combat. And at the mont, they completely obey your commands."

"Shiroko," Charon suddenly asked on impulse, "is there anything you want to do?"

Even if she had no mories for now, she probably still had instinctive desires, right?

Little Shiroko nodded.

She jumped down from Charon's arms, then sohow pulled out a blue ski mask from nowhere, put it on, aid her gun at Rose, and rubbed her tiny fingers together in a "hand over the money" gesture.
