Now reading: Chapter 143 143: Celebrating a Birthday? from Nikke, something’s seriously wrong with this evacuation point!, a Action novel by nothingtodotoday.

Today was yet another completely uneventful day.

Cinderella effortlessly destroyed every obstacle in front of her. This highest-difficulty simulation test was the kind where mass-produced Nikkes wouldn't survive even ten seconds inside, yet Cinderella had already started using it to farm points.

Hansel and Gretel stared wide-eyed at the scene of Cinderella slaughtering everything in the simulation test, their eyes filled with admiration.

"Abe, Abe, Cinderella is already this amazing, so does that an the Goddess Squad is even stronger? Gretel is asking."

"You two are overthinking it." When the topic ca up, Abe proudly raised her chin. "My Cinderella is the strongest! Whether from an emotional or rational perspective, Cinderella's abilities have already surpassed the first-generation Fairy Tale models!"

"Then what about Lady Liliweiss?"

"...You two really are learning bad habits." Abe blinked helplessly, sighed, and reached out to rub the heads of the two giant-chested lolis. "Rember this: even though she hasn't appeared on the battlefield for a while, Liliweiss is still the strongest Nikke in this world."

"Mhm, mhm." Siren nodded along from the side. Although she still couldn't speak normally, her mood was obviously much better than before.

In front of Abe, there was clearly no way she could hide the matter regarding Charon. She had conveyed everything to Abe through writing. Originally, she had even wanted to tell Cinderella about it, but Abe stopped her in the end.

Saying that she wanted to give Cinderella a surprise?

Ever since then, Siren had been looking forward to this so-called surprise.

And if she could also et Charon along the way, that would be even better.

Cinderella walked out of the testing area. Quite a few staff mbers didn't even dare et her eyes and instinctively stepped aside to make a path for her.

Cinderella had long since gotten used to this and walked out without caring, only to be greeted by Abe, Siren, Hansel, and Gretel.

"Everyone, why are you all here?" Cinderella tilted her head, confusion written across her face.

Normally, after finishing their tests, everyone would return to their own rooms and only gather together in the afternoon for so leisure ti. Even eating together was rare.

"Ana," Abe softly called out that na.

Ever since Asha beca Cinderella, Abe had rarely called her that anymore. Because a Nikke was a Nikke–especially a Fairy Tale model Nikke. Once they beca Nikkes, they had to completely sever themselves from who they once were.

Just like Dorothy. Before becoming a Nikke, she might even have beco part of the governnt in the future. But after becoming a Nikke, her ho was gone, and even her politician father completely cut ties with Dorothy.

"!" Cinderella froze for a mont, then quickly glanced around. "Abe, what's wrong?"

"Although you might not rember... tomorrow is your birthday."

Cinderella was stunned. My birthday? Why don't I rember that?

But seeing Abe frantically winking at her, the extrely clever girl imdiately chose to play along.

"Then Abe, do you have a gift for ?"

"Of course. Just wait and look forward to tomorrow." Abe gave her a thumbs-up, wearing a rare expression of confidence.

"Hansel also wants to know her birthday! Gretel does too!"

" too!"

"Ah, ah!"

"Alright, alright, stop making a fuss, all of you. Everyone gets one, including your future little sister Red Shoes too, I promise, okay?" Abe hurriedly tried to calm them down. Why were these three girls getting excited too? Miscalculation. She should've talked to Cinderella privately instead.

"Abe," Cinderella suddenly said, "how about everyone's birthday is set on the sa day?"

Abe fell silent.

Cinderella's words had directly struck the softest part of her heart.

After becoming Nikkes, forget birthdays–even their forr selves had to be abandoned. Even Liliweiss, who still retained all her mories, no longer celebrated her own birthday.

For Nikkes, such things simply did not exist.

"You girls don't have any objections to Cinderella's suggestion, right?" Abe turned to the three Nikkes beside her and asked.

"Hansel and Gretel think there's no problem! If everyone celebrates together, then nobody will feel lonely."

"Ah, mm!" Siren narrowed her eyes happily, looking extrely delighted.

If this was the surprise, then it suited her tastes perfectly.

"Then it's settled for tomorrow." Abe clenched her fist. "Don't forget this date, everyone. Next year, and the year after next, we'll all celebrate together on this day!"

"Whoa!!!"

The Nikkes all raised their hands together.

"Then the question is," Hansel said, "did the vacation request for tomorrow get approved? Gretel wants to know too."

"Ugh, what a painfully sharp question." Abe looked at them with dead fish eyes. "I used my own authority to forcefully get you half a day off, so be grateful!"

"Whoa!"

"Today's Abe is extrely beautiful."

"But the price is that there'll be no holidays for the next half month, so you girls had better listen to properly!"

"Ehhh??? How could this happen!!"

...

The next day, the research institute was unusually quiet.

After washing up, Cinderella stepped out of her room and saw Abe leaning against the wall in the corridor.

"Abe." Cinderella greeted her while walking over. "Is morning training about to start?"

"No. You don't have training today." Abe took a deep breath. "Bring Siren, Hansel, and Gretel, and co with ."

"Defecting? That's not beautiful at all, you know?"

"What nonsense are you talking about?!" Abe was startled by Cinderella's sudden remark and laughed as she scolded her. "Where exactly could we even defect to? I just found soone and used a few thods to deal with the institute's surveillance system. At least for today, nobody will try to co looking for you girls."

Cinderella's eyes slowly widened.

"We... can go outside?"

"Mm. You can go out and take a look. Although it's not exactly scenery worth admiring, at the very least, you'll get to see what kind of world it is that you want to protect."

Cinderella nodded vigorously.

"Yes!"

Just as Abe had said, along the route the five of them traveled, even when surveillance caras saw them, they pretended not to. Passersby were redirected elsewhere for various reasons, and even the guards at the main gate just so happened to be absent. Taking advantage of the opportunity, the group swaggered straight out through the front entrance of the research institute.

Under normal circumstances, sothing like this would have been absolutely impossible. Usually there were four or five patrol groups rotating shifts just at the entrance alone, but today not a single one of them was there.

"Wow, it's the outside world! Hansel is very happy, and Gretel says the sa thing!"

"Wow!" Siren gazed up at the warm sun in the sky, the corners of her lips naturally curving into a sweet smile.

Ever since becoming Nikkes, they had never been able to co outside.

"It's been three years since you last saw the outside world, hasn't it, Ana?" Abe lightly patted Cinderella on the shoulder. "Co on. Today, I'm taking you sowhere."

"What place?"

"You'll know when we get there. You definitely won't regret it."
