Nikke, something’s seriously wrong with this evacuation point! Chapter 151 151: Base Upgrade
"Currently, both you and I are holders of the highest authority, aning we can freely modify the details of the base. I've already granted Rose(lee) and the others second-tier permissions – apart from structural modification, they can freely use all facilities inside the base… essentially, nothing has changed compared to before."
"Originally, you would still need to operate everything manually, but now you can directly issue commands to the Shittim Chest. It will simplify the entire process and execute the results you want directly. By the way, I've already completed the automation workflow code for this system."
Rose stood in the center of the screen with her hands on her hips, looking proudly at Charon as if expecting praise.
"You're amazing, Rose(Sleeping Beauty). Without you, I'd probably need ages just to learn how to operate this." Charon said while casually observing her reaction.
"Hmph. Of course. Only I can help you with this kind of thing. Praise all you want!"
The smile at the corner of Rose's lips was already hard to hide. Easy to please.
Though, to be fair, Charon did an it sincerely.
He had already checked the terminal earlier. The base itself was enormous, and manual operation through the interface would be extrely complicated. Even though there was an internal manual, it was still too troubleso.
In essence, the system used the Shittim Chest's precise voice recognition to break down Charon's commands into procedural steps from the manual, then input them into the terminal in a single batch – a simple concept, but it solved an imdiate problem for him.
"However, I still recomnd completing Stage 1 as soon as possible. The current stealth field only blocks visual detection. If any Nikke leaves the underground base, the Raptures can still detect them via sensors. Surface developnt is still not possible for now."
"Stage 1, huh. Got it."
The Stage 1 requirent was 1000 construction points. Although the exact conversion rate was still unknown, the base already stored a large amount of Rapture parts previously used by the lee squad Combat Unit for self-modification, as well as the cores from the now-abandoned Rapture-core reactor – all of which ca from high-tier Raptures.
Soon, these materials were decomposed into points. The result was: one ton of master-class Rapture parts equaled 5 points, while a single full master-class Rapture core equaled 50 points.
Seeing this, Rose(lee) and the others all showed subtle, knowing smiles.
Well then – no need to say more. Ti to go hunting, sisters.
So Rose(lee) led the lee squad in full force, sweeping the surrounding Raptures together with Charon.
Although the area was already a Rapture-occupied zone, most of them were either near the Orbital Elevator or deployed on the frontlines against humanity. The number roaming the roads was relatively small. Of course, making loud noise could attract them – but that would bring far too many at once.
Charon's presence was mainly for logistics. His system inventory could store a large number of cores, and in total they only needed twenty master-class Rapture cores.
If this had been before the fall of the region, encountering twenty master-class Raptures would have been extrely rare – mostly elites or occasional leaders. But now, it only took three days to gather twenty complete cores. Whether that counted as lucky or unfortunate was debatable.
Although there were so cases where, in the heat of battle, the Raptures – cores included – were accidentally cut in half, it wasn't a major issue.
With twenty full master-class cores collected, Charon and the team quickly returned to the base.
At that mont, everyone noticed sothing unusual: the base had beco even more concealed than before. When they had left, they hadn't noticed it at all; upon returning, they realized the path to the entrance had transford into a rock wall. Only faint, barely perceptible light marked the hidden entrance.
Walking toward the rock wall felt like passing through Platform 9¾ – and the environnt shifted back to normal the mont they crossed.
They had witnessed true visual concealnt.
Upon entering the main hall, Charon imdiately threw down the twenty cores and issued the decomposition command.
Under everyone's gaze, the materials quickly dissolved into blue light particles and sank into the ground.
"Alright, Charon. Ready to upgrade?"
"Of course we are." Charon waved his hand.
Three days of effort – wasn't it all for this mont? And more importantly, it concerned the future living space of the Nikkes. He wouldn't hesitate even for a second.
"OK. The upgrade process has started, but it will take so ti. All we can do now is wait."
Then, Charon witnessed the entire evolution of the base.
First, strands of blue light spread across the floor, walls, and ceiling – soft, non-blinding, filling every corner of the underground facility.
Surfaces covered in blue began to deconstruct and reconstruct, rging into the structure just like the earlier Rapture cores.
The next mont, with a heavy rumbling sound, the floor slightly rose. The entire base rapidly reshaped into a tallic industrial style – resembling the underground facility where Charon had once been held captive.
Even the walls and ceiling were now made of insulated, soundproof tal panels.
"Unbelievable… this light is 'purifying' the base," Rose(Sleeping Beauty) murmured. "Is this the power of Zero Zone?"
"Yeah…"
Even though he had witnessed many miracles brought by the Zero Zone before, none of them compared to this. The visible transformation process itself was far more striking than simply seeing the result.
"Purifying… what does that an?" Rose(lee) asked from the side, still visibly shocked but focused on the word itself.
"It ans that if I hadn't granted you second-tier permissions beforehand, you would have been turned into part of the base during the upgrade – just like those walls and floors."
"..."
"And also insects, birds, animals… especially all the useless bugs scattered everywhere in the base before. The purification wiped them all out. Not a single fly can get in now."
The Nikkes, who had looked slightly frightened just monts ago, imdiately relaxed – and then showed relieved smiles.
"That's great!"
From their expressions, it was clear those bugs had been a very unwelco part of their daily lives.
