Nikke, something’s seriously wrong with this evacuation point! Chapter 26 26: “You retreat first, I’ll cover the rear”
Retreat?
That option, at least on the surface, didn't seem unreasonable.
Because he could already hear it, the dense, overlapping footsteps of countless Raptures approaching.
Clearly, whatever thods the Raptures used, they had already detected Charon's satellite communication signal.
There wasn't much ti left. He had to evacuate imdiately, and not from the front.
"Liliweiss, can you hear ?" Charon shut the concealed manual gate in the wall and quickly moved toward the logistics center's rear exit.
[Yes, Commander.]
"Retreat imdiately. Return to the forward base first. I'll send a ssage to Andrew, he'll arrange your extraction." His pace never slowed. "I'll take a detour. I'll be back a few hours after you."
[That's not acceptable, Commander. I can co get you. This place is far too dangerous!]
Liliweiss's voice imdiately turned anxious.
Even for ordinary comrades, this level of deep infiltration into Rapture territory was unacceptable. For soone as important to her as Charon, it was even more so.
"I know. But if you co here, the Rapture concentration will force you to engage. That might trigger the 'Gluttony' again. We don't need that risk right now."
Charon passed through a narrow corridor. The exit ahead led directly out of the logistics center–and was the closest route to his extraction point.
"After this, I'm discarding my phone and earpiece. For a while, neither the Raptures nor anyone else will be able to track . Understood?"
[Yes… I understand.]
Her reply ca reluctantly, but she complied.
Charon removed his communication gear, quickly sent a ssage to Andrew, and then threw both the phone and earpiece back into the building before sprinting out with his weapon ready.
Raptures were already pouring in from all directions.
But their numbers were still within his manageable range.
That actually made things… interesting.
"Co on, you bastards, co chase !"
Charon pulled out six grenades, grinning fiercely, and tossed them upward.
BOOM–!
Amid the explosions, his figure vanished into the smoke and chaos.
Liliweiss clenched her teeth and retreated.
She wanted to go back. She really did.
But she couldn't disobey.
If she did, she might lose her position beside Charon.
As a forr soldier, obedience was carved into her instincts.
And more importantly, it was an order from Charon himself.
Several hours later, Charon returned to the forward base.
Andrew was already waiting.
The mont he saw Charon, he rushed forward and hugged him tightly.
"I knew you bastard wouldn't die!"
"I don't think your actions suggested that," Charon replied flatly, glancing at the fully ard troops behind him.
"No more nonsense. Where's Liliweiss?"
"She's undergoing maintenance. According to Karen, her NIMPH is showing signs of malfunction, causing occasional dizziness during combat."
Andrew frowned.
"You should go see her. Abe is waiting for you at the usual place."
