Now reading: Chapter 29 29: My Liliweiss Is Unmatched! from Nikke, something’s seriously wrong with this evacuation point!, a Action novel by nothingtodotoday.

Three days passed in the blink of an eye.

Liliweiss slowly woke up, staring at the unfamiliar ceiling, her mind still a little hazy.

The truth was, VTC's technology wasn't that mature yet. For a prototype like Liliweiss, the only one of her kind, even Professor Abe, the top researcher, couldn't claim she could perfectly resolve every issue related to NIMPH. Fortunately, this ti she had brought Karen along, her most gifted student in this field. With both of them working together, they barely managed to fully stabilize Liliweiss's condition.

At the very least, there would be no lasting side effects.

"'Erosion'… that's what they're calling it."

Charon's voice ca from beside her.

Liliweiss turned her head and saw him sitting next to her bed, finishing the last cut on an apple.

"Perfect, didn't break the peel!"

"W-Where did you get that apple…?"

Since the Raptures invaded, human territory had shrunk drastically, and food supplies had beco scarce. Fresh fruit was now a luxury, especially an apple like the one in Charon's hand: large, glossy, and perfectly red. In the current situation, it might even be worth a house.

"Magic."

With a casual flick of his knife, the apple split cleanly into slices. He stabbed the knife into the table, picked up a slice, and held it to her lips.

"Here, open up."

At that mont, Liliweiss's heartbeat spiraled out of control.

W-w-wait… there's no way I can refuse this!

Nervously, she closed her eyes, her lashes trembling as she parted her lips and gently bit into the apple slice.

…So sweet. So delicious…

Being the Nikke of this commander… is truly happiness.

Juice burst across her tongue, spreading warmth through her entire body, even leaving behind a faint tingling comfort.

At this point, she completely forgot to question where the apple ca from.

As for the real answer, it ca from looting.

In this world, resources were everywhere. As long as he searched, Charon could gather supplies just like in the Zero Zone. Food was simply one category among many.

No matter where he was dropped, as long as he could move freely, starving was never an option for him.

The military's rations had beco purely utilitarian, flavorless nutrient fluids for survival. The only sources of dopamine were cigarettes and synthetic chocolate. Even alcohol was strictly limited.

Fresh fruit? Even Andrew and Charon themselves might not get to eat it once a month.

"Feeling better now?"

Only after seeing her satisfied expression did Charon ask.

"Um… Commander, I actually don't feel unwell at all."

Liliweiss quickly responded, even raising her arm as if to show how strong she was.

Yes… strong enough to punch this entire base into oblivion.

"I know. Abe already told everything," Charon said. "You shouldn't be affected by that code anymore. But I want to ask, when you felt dizzy back then, did you notice anything else?"

"Hm…"

Liliweiss paused, looking up at the ceiling as she tried to recall.

"…It felt like falling asleep."

"What do you an?"

"It's hard to explain… like sleep paralysis. Your mind is awake, but your body just won't move," she said seriously. "But it was very brief. It didn't affect combat. Not to brag, but even if I got dizzy mid-attack, I wouldn't stop. So next ti, Commander, you'll have to stop , okay?"

"I'd rather you control yourself," Charon sighed with a smile.

She was getting more and more spoiled.

Not sure if that was a good thing or not.

"Actually… there is sothing I want to ask you," Liliweiss said carefully, watching his reaction.

"Go ahead."

"…I want a weapon. One that I can actually use."

That was her flaw.

She couldn't use weapons, not because she lacked knowledge. She possessed full understanding of weapon usage and maintenance, from cold weapons to firearms. In theory, she was a master.

But no weapon could withstand her strength.

Whether guns or blades, they would break after just a few uses.

That's why she had always fought barehanded.

Even though Charon said he didn't mind, she still wanted to show him a cool, stylish side, not just soone who punches everything to pieces.

And besides, a personal weapon would help her control her strength better.

"Then when we get back to the academy," Charon said, "I'll figure out how to get you sothing suitable. Sothing that won't break. It's a reasonable request, they shouldn't refuse."

Liliweiss's eyes lit up.

"Thank you, Commander!"

It wasn't impossible… just tricky. He'd need materials strong enough to handle her strength. Probably had to deal with one of the big corporations.

"Commander… what do we do next?" she asked seriously. "Do we continue?"

That was the question.

Logically, their main mission was already complete. They should return and assist with the next phase of Nikke developnt.

But…

There was sothing sitting beneath the orbital elevator.

Gluttony.

During the three days Liliweiss was unconscious, quite a bit had happened.

Most importantly, humanity attempted another strike on the orbital elevator.

Since Gluttony had been "defeated" once, so believed the elevator was now vulnerable.

They were wrong.

Missiles were launched as a test.

Taotie erged and swallowed them whole.

Then it released the energy back.

Damage?

One missile vehicle.

Yeah… that plan was dead.

As for Colonel Alex, he had been captured within 24 hours by Andrew. He was now detained and awaiting military trial.

But he wasn't talking.

Which made sense.

He was just a scapegoat.

Soone like him didn't have the authority to tamper with sothing as critical as the Nikke project.

There was definitely soone behind him.

And digging deeper… might bring more trouble than answers.

For now, it was better to stop here.

And VTC isn't exactly powerless either.

"So yeah," Charon said, feeding her another slice of apple and wiping the juice from her lips, "we're continuing."

"Your previous report got attention. Combined with this incident, they believe that if you can one-shot Gluttony once… you can do it again."

"Looks like we're working overti."

Liliweiss was silent for a mont.

Then she smiled.

"And what do you think, Commander?"

Charon lightly tapped her forehead.

"What else is there to think?"

"My Liliweiss is unbeatable."

She grinned brightly.

"As long as you know!"

"Whether it's Gluttony or anything else, leave it all to !"
