Nikke, something’s seriously wrong with this evacuation point! Chapter 71 71: Vacation Time Is Over
Even though he had long known that the mont of parting would eventually co, when it truly arrived, Ana still found herself unable to move.
She needed a little more ti.
Abe stood at the entrance of the café, waiting for Ana and Charon to say their goodbyes.
She knew Charon's thods all too well, but she had never expected that his tactics would even work on such a young girl. If she hadn't been able to see that Charon had absolutely no improper intentions toward Ana, she would have already called the police.
From this perspective, entrusting Ana to Abe for care was beneficial in many ways.
From the very first ti she t Ana, she had felt a strange compatibility with the child. The two of them were likely to get along surprisingly well.
Though it was just a scientist's intuition, sotis, if researchers trusted intuition, miracles might occur.
She took out her phone, opened the number labeled "Ron" that she had just received, and began typing a ssage.
This was sothing that needed to be avoided in front of Ana. So things were for adults to handle–children didn't need to be involved.
After quickly finishing, she pressed send and finally let out a small sigh of relief.
"Mrs.Abe."
Ana's voice ca from behind her.
She turned around and saw Ana standing there, looking like a spirit that had wandered into the human world.
Now that she was outside the dim café room, Abe finally focused fully on her appearance–and realized sothing:
This child… might grow into a world-class beauty capable of shaking nations.
"You finished saying goodbye?" Abe asked casually.
"It wasn't goodbye," Ana corrected seriously. "It's just a temporary separation."
She didn't continue, but Abe already understood what she ant.
Sothing like: I'll co running back when I grow up.
Heh. Try getting past Liliweiss first.
Even though Liliweiss's lifespan was an issue, and even Charon had sohow survived… maybe it wasn't impossible. Abe decided not to think too far ahead.
As a spectator, she had a front-row seat.
She really wanted to see what kind of miracle this man would create again.
Charon did not walk out of the café. If he did, Ana would definitely refuse to leave obediently, and if she kept looking back, he might not be able to stop himself from following–but that would not be good for her.
Throughout the day, Ana never ntioned becoming a Nikke.
Because she didn't want Abe to feel like a stepping stone. She was a good child. Becoming a Nikke was sothing for the future–she would go through the eligibility process herself.
The second batch of fairy-type units had already been put into planning after the first batch, but design, materials, and technical issues still needed ti. Especially after the catastrophic failure of Unit One.
That was why Abe wanted to inform Charon of one crucial matter:
The death of Fairy-Type Unit One, codena "Sleeping Beauty."
...
Charon sat alone in the private room.
The coffee in front of him had long gone cold, untouched.
He searched online for "Sleeping Beauty," but found nothing.
All information had been sealed. Not even fragnts remained.
The creation of Unit One had been a complete tragedy. The higher-ups had wanted a perfect, obedient Nikke with the full potential of Liliweiss, so they pushed everything to the extre.
Even the lifespan issue had been engineered as part of the design goal: a body that could survive indefinitely through continuous replacent.
But this obsession with longevity and power exceeded the limits of the human vessel.
In simple terms–the container was too small.
The body could not bear such overwhelming power and lifespan, and it exploded.
Before its destruction, Sleeping Beauty still managed to leave behind critical data. From Unit Two onward, the designs reduced raw power in exchange for long-term stability.
Longevity beca more important than strength.
People only knew Liliweiss as the first unit. The true "first" had been buried in history.
The governnt did not need a failure that would discourage future candidates.
Aside from the Goddess Squad and Andrew, Abe was one of the few who knew the truth.
As Sleeping Beauty, she fulfilled her role–setting the absolute boundary of power.
But what about Rose?
The girl born because of Liliweiss, and who died because of her.
All traces of her existence had been erased: birth records, school data, apartnt, property–everything.
That was how the governnt worked.
Charon laughed bitterly.
Without Rose, Liliweiss might never have returned alive from the orbital elevator.
And yet… he understood why it had to be done.
But understanding did not an accepting.
If not for Charon himself, Rose would have remained buried in an unknown grave.
At the end of Abe's ssage was an address.
It was already Rapture territory.
Abe likely wanted him to visit her, but she had no idea what Charon could still do.
To reach that place, his current status made things difficult. As a candidate commander, he could not leave freely. He would need to deploy on a mission.
But that also pointed him toward a path forward.
Perhaps this commander candidate role had been waiting for exactly this purpose.
"Don't worry, Rose."
Charon adjusted his cap, his gaze sharpening.
"I won't let you stay there alone. I'll take you sowhere safer."
He took out a silver coin and tossed it idly.
The River Styx Coin would make its first real use here.
He stood up, checked his phone, and looked at his ssages.
"It looks like… vacation ti is over."
