Nikke, something’s seriously wrong with this evacuation point! Chapter 92 92: Sleeping Beauty, What a Fitting Name
The two Nikkes left behind exchanged glances before ultimately deciding to follow behind Charon.
A place with visibility this wide and no cover at all was basically a shooting range.
At the very least, if they stayed nearby, Scarlet could probably slash apart one or two incoming bullets with her skill.
Charon paid none of this any attention.
Right now, the only thing in his mind was that girl from long ago – the one wearing a formal dress, looking as though she might shatter at any mont.
And afterward…
The sa girl who regained her confidence and began shining brilliantly once more.
A girl who could have stood proudly on the front stage, yet willingly chose to remain behind the scenes for Liliweiss's sake.
Rose.
Although Andrew called her "senior," in truth she had rely been a university student who hadn't even graduated yet.
In Charon's eyes, she was still just a kid who had barely beco an adult.
And now…
She lay quietly beneath this lonely grave.
There wasn't even a na carved onto the stone.
Even if soone happened to pass by, they would never realize that the person sleeping here had once made enormous contributions to the Fairy Tale-class Nikke project.
Without her, the Goddess Squad as it existed today would never have been born.
"You were just logistics personnel… so why were you always trying to rush to the front lines?"
He sat before the gravestone, his eyes filled with rembrance…
…and regret.
"You should've just stayed behind your computer and enjoyed being a hacker. Wasn't Liliweiss enough for the battlefield already? Why did you insist on pushing yourself? Wasn't one lesson enough? Why did there have to be a second ti?!"
For so reason, the more Charon spoke, the angrier he beca.
If Rose were standing in front of him right now, he would probably flick her forehead hard a few tis.
"You think you're or sothing? You get out of breath just from running a little. You should've stayed in the rear and done support work properly. With your qualifications, becoming a liaison for the Goddess Squad would've been effortless."
"And besides…"
His gaze drifted toward the carefully maintained grass surrounding the grave.
"…it seems I'm not the only one who still cos here to see you."
There was no need for him to guess who the visitors were.
Aside from those two people, no one else would still rember Rose.
And judging by the condition of the area, they had likely left not long ago.
Which was good.
If they had run into each other directly, things would've beco awkward.
"Sleeping Beauty… hahaha… Sleeping Beauty. What a fitting codena."
His voice grew softer.
"Until your prince cos to wake you up, all you can do is lie there obediently. Honestly, that's not so bad. At least this way you can't go wandering off and making us search for you again."
His voice was so quiet that the two following behind couldn't hear clearly.
And neither of them had any intention of eavesdropping anyway.
Especially Scarlet.
She silently stepped back several paces.
She didn't know who was buried beneath that grave.
But whoever it was, they clearly ant sothing incredibly important to the lieutenant.
For so reason, the sight of Charon's back at this mont made Scarlet unable to look directly at him.
As though if she stared too long, she too would beco infected by that sadness.
No. 07 wanted to step forward and comfort Charon sohow, but Scarlet stopped her with a shake of her head.
Biting her lip, No. 07 could only stand quietly guard beside him.
For the next ten minutes, Charon did absolutely nothing.
He simply sat there silently before the grave.
Even though they were deep in dangerous wilderness, not a single Rapture appeared nearby.
As his escort, Scarlet found that deeply puzzling.
"Ti's about right."
Finally, Charon stood and stretched lazily.
"You two," he said without turning around, "whatever you're about to see… don't go telling anyone."
The two Nikkes were instantly confused.
Leak what?
Without waiting for a response, Charon reached into his pocket and pulled out a silver coin.
[Styx Vision] activated.
The world before his eyes instantly changed.
All color vanished.
Everything beca black and white.
Within that monochro vision, however, the lonely grave ahead contained a dim golden sphere of light – faint and fragile, as though it might disappear at any mont.
Tiny particles of golden light continuously drifted away from it.
The mont Charon saw this, the final weight in his heart finally lifted.
Elsewhere in his vision were countless other golden lights of varying sizes scattered throughout the world.
But none of them mattered to him.
There was only one target he cared about.
As his gaze remained fixed upon the light, he gradually felt a strange connection forming between himself and the glowing sphere.
At the sa ti, every other golden light disappeared from sight.
Only this one remained.
Taking a deep breath, he tossed the silver coin toward the light.
Instantly, the coin rged into it.
And in the next mont–
A box appeared out of thin air before him.
A teammate loot box.
It looked almost identical to the enemy loot crates.
Charon imdiately rushed over and opened it.
Normally, teammate loot boxes contained equipnt, weapons, or supplies.
But inside this one, there was only a single item.
A dog tag.
And the na engraved upon it was not "Rose."
It was:
Sleeping Beauty.
Which ant that before dying, she had already beco a Nikke rather than dying as a human.
How that would affect things later, Charon didn't know.
But regardless, his objective had been achieved.
Whether as the Nikke "Sleeping Beauty" or as Rose–
Fundantally, they were the sa person.
From Scarlet's perspective, however, Charon's actions looked unbelievably bizarre.
She had clearly seen him throw a silver coin toward the gravestone.
Yet instead of striking the stone, the coin sank into it as though falling into water.
And before she could even question her eyesight, a box materialized from nowhere.
Then Charon pulled a dog tag out from inside it.
If he hadn't warned them beforehand, her curiosity would've already forced her to ask questions.
Placing Sleeping Beauty's dog tag into his system inventory, Charon finally exhaled in relief.
At this point, every objective he had set before entering the Nikke world had been completed.
All that remained now…
…was leaving safely.
Still, he had no intention of simply abandoning the lee squad and disappearing.
He would finish everything he needed to do first.
Only then could he leave in peace.
"Scarlet," Charon said, "contact Rose's group. Sync positions. We'll regroup with them."
"Understood."
Scarlet imdiately pulled out her radio.
"This is Scarlet. Sis… Rose Team, please transmit your current coordinates, over."
No response.
Scarlet frowned.
That shouldn't happen.
So she called again.
Still no reply.
This ti, both Nikkes' expressions changed.
Rose was the most reliable person in the squad.
If she wasn't answering, then there was only one possibility.
Sothing had happened.
"We move." Charon made the decision instantly, turning back the way they ca with Scarlet and No. 07 following close behind.
They needed to gather everyone imdiately–
…and find Rose as fast as possible.
