Inside the CEO’s office.
A few annoying old guys were still chattering on about trivial matters. Asher Land tossed the report in his hand onto the table, leaned back in his leather chair, and closed his eyes for a mont of rest.
"You don’t need to tell about those minor financial statuses. Just report them directly to the finance departnt."
The people standing in the office were so of the company’s veterans. Relying on their seniority, they had so authority in the company, but given their age, their thinking was sowhat old-fashioned, even pedantic. Naturally, they knew about Asher Land’s capability, but they did not approve of his ways.
"President Land, I think you should pay attention to your image. Don’t get too entangled in scandals with those actresses from the entertainnt industry. It will only damage the company’s reputation."
"Oh? That serious?" Asher Land sneered, "I got it."
If he didn’t agree with them a little, they might argue with him here for hours, and he didn’t have ti to waste.
"President Land, there’s also..."
"Enough!" This was simply overstepping; he had already verbally taken a step back, what more did they want?
"I have another eting this afternoon and no ti to discuss my private life with you further. If you have any dissatisfaction..." he paused, "then keep it to yourselves."
The group looked at each other, but there was nothing they could say.
After getting rid of these annoying old guys, Asher Land glanced at the ti, then took out his phone and called Sophie Smith.
Sophie Smith was busy in the kitchen, not even noticing the phone ringing on the living room sofa for a long ti.
This woman wasn’t answering his calls again? Didn’t she know what day it was today? Does she have no expectations of him at all?
Without further thought, he closed his laptop, grabbed his jacket beside him, and drove to her place.
Sophie had eaten a not-so-great al and hadn’t even tidied up the table. Her "laziness" set in, and she lay on the sofa, bored, flipping through TV channels.
Hearing the knock on the door, she casually slipped on a pair of slippers and walked to the door. Just about to open it, she felt sothing was amiss. She stood on tiptoes, peering through the peephole, and saw that it was Asher Land standing outside!
Wasn’t there a whole bunch of won waiting for him to spend Valentine’s Day with? What was he doing here?
Asher Land had been pressing the doorbell for a long ti, but no one had co to open the door for him.
"I know you’re ho, open the door for , or else..."
Or else what?
"Or else I’ll kick the door down!"
Asher Land, you really are a brute.
Reluctantly, Sophie opened the door. It wasn’t that she wanted to see him, but if he broke the door, she’d have to pay for it, and she wasn’t about to waste her money like that.
"Have you eaten?" Asher Land frowned, looking at the ss on the dining table.
"It’s already one-thirty. Of course, I’ve eaten," Sophie replied matter-of-factly.
But did she know that, to have a al with her, he skipped lunch and postponed all his afternoon etings?
Lately, he had been so busy with work, he hadn’t had ti to spend with her. Who would’ve thought she wouldn’t even try to reach out to him once? Now that he finally had the ti, he rushed to see her, only to be t with such indifference. The more he thought about it, the more annoyed he beca.
"By the way, you must be really busy today!" Sophie smiled, knowing full well about all the won he supposedly had. How could he handle them all on Valentine’s Day?
"Yeah, it’s been really busy," Asher Land replied, seemingly not catching the underlying aning in Sophie’s words.
