Asher Land sat on the sofa, slowly sipping a glass of red wine. To be honest, this man even had an elegant and enchanting way of drinking. However, there seed to be an inherent immunity in her body against him; she wasn't interested in him.
The atmosphere was sowhat delicate, and neither intended to speak first.
"Go take a shower."
"What?"
Did this woman have a problem with her ears? Did she really need him to say things twice?
"Are you truly unaware or just feigning innocence?" he sneered, "Stop pretending in front of ."
What was she pretending about? He had clearly called her over to discuss the lead actress role in City of Desire; now it seed he had conveniently forgotten. It looked like she needed to remind him.
"President Land, you called to discuss the lead role for City of Desire..."
"Sophie, do you really think you can get what you want without giving anything in return?"
What did he an by that?
"Of course, as long as you give the chance, I will definitely do my best to play this role well."
Asher Land had never t such an oblivious woman before. He had already shown enough patience.
"Fine, as long as you make happy tonight, the role is yours. Don't ask silly questions about how to make happy—it's a physical transaction, understand?"
Casting couch?
These three words imdiately surfaced in Sophie's mind, bringing back mories of what happened in the private room the night before. Sophie, fearfully, looked at Asher Land sitting on the sofa. She hadn't expected him to be so blunt and crude.
But Sophie would never sell herself; she couldn't sell her heart, let alone her body. Absolutely not!
Last ti with Sam Chapman, she hadn't done it, and this ti she certainly wouldn't.
"President Land, I think you misunderstood. I don't necessarily need to play this role." She turned, intending to leave.
Asher Land took a long stride, blocking the doorway.
"Dare to ss with ?" He threw his wine glass on the floor, the spilled wine staining her skirt.
"I didn't."
"Not obeying my orders ans ssing with ."
"Obey?" Sophie sneered, "It was you, President Land, who gave the choice. You said if I made you happy, the lead role in City of Desire would be mine. But my choice is to give it up. Can't I at least refuse this so-called lead role?"
Her haughty attitude made him even angrier. He couldn't understand why so many won wanted to climb into Asher Land's bed, yet this woman scoffed at the idea, insulting his male ego.
"It's too late. The mont you stepped through this door, it was too late." He pulled her into his arms, his masculine scent enveloping her, causing her to blush involuntarily.
"Mm, mm..." Sophie struggled desperately to escape his grasp, hitting his chest with her fists, "Let go of , let go!"
Let go? How could he let go of the tasty prey already in his grasp?
"Sophie, I'll say it one more ti. eting is your luck, don't be ungrateful."
This was the second ti he had said this to her. How ridiculous. It was like encountering a demon, yet he kept insisting she be grateful.
"I don't want to et you. You, let go of ." Sophie felt she had fallen into a tiger's den, with no way to escape, just awaiting to be devoured by him.
How foolish she was, foolish to have even believed in Asher Land!
