A week later, Sophie Smith was finally able to get out of bed and move freely. The feeling was like being reborn. She stood by the window and stretched lazily.
Autumn was settling in, the weather was a bit chilly, and Sophie hugged her thin body, shivering uncontrollably.
Her gaze was sowhat dazed as she watched the yellow leaves falling from the trees, seeing those withered leaves spinning ceaselessly in the sky before landing on the ground, one after another.
During this period, she felt incredibly relaxed with no announcents, no film offers, like being isolated from the world, only the sporadic news about her on TV reminded her of her identity.
A newcor actor starting to gain popularity.
Asher Land entered quietly, and as Sophie turned around, she bumped into his hard chest.
"You frightened ." Sophie clutched her chest, exhaling deeply.
"I’ve had the discharge procedures arranged. If you want, you can leave the hospital today."
"Of course I want to." Heaven knows, the sll of hospital disinfectant makes her want to vomit.
He seed to be in a good mood today; seeing her about to pack her things, he imdiately stopped her.
"Those things, I’ll send soone to pack them later."
"Asher, I can take care of myself now. No need to trouble others with such minor things, right?" She wasn’t the kind of pampered miss who waited on hand and foot; things she could do herself, she wouldn’t want to trouble others.
"I said no need to pack," Asher’s tone was firm.
"I don’t want to bother others,..."
Her sentence trailed off as she saw Asher had already bent down to pick up so scattered items on the table, neatly categorizing them.
Sophie stared incredulously at Asher, who was tidying up, and suddenly felt a warm sensation in her heart. She didn’t know how to describe her feelings at that mont.
Asher finished tidying everything up and raised his eyebrows at her.
"How about now? Satisfied?"
She instinctively nodded.
The door suddenly opened, and Robert Williams appeared tightly wound before Sophie.
"President Land, soone’s constantly insisting to see Miss Smith. Shall we allow it or not?"
Clearly, it was about soone wanting to see her, yet Robert was asking for Asher’s opinion.
"No," his answer was simple and direct.
"Who is the person anyway? What’s her na? Do I know her?" Sophie asked eagerly.
"She said her na is Eva Miller."
"It’s Eva! Of course I want to see her!" It’s her own fault for neglecting to call her all this ti.
"Well..." Robert looked helplessly at Asher.
"Eva is my most important friend, you know that, so can I see her for a mont?" She cautiously sought Asher’s opinion because he called the shots now.
"Who’s more important, her or ?"
What?
What a strange question. Does it even need asking?
"Of course she’s more important."
Asher’s lips twitched slightly, good, this woman is starting to annoy him again. After being hospitalized for so long, her brain is getting less clear.
Sophie seed to realize she said sothing wrong; pardon her, she admittedly lacked so thinking just now.
But it’s just the truth; what’s there for him to be angry about?
"I’ll ask again, who’s more important, her or ?"
Apparently, Asher was not giving up easily.
Sophie wanted to bravely stare into his eyes and say, ’She’s more important.’
Yet, the words were swallowed back.
Knowing the right ti to compromise is wisdom.
"You’re more important," she said, going against her conscience.
