"Mr. Johnson." She greeted him sowhat shyly.
In Oliver Johnson’s eyes, she was undoubtedly the focal point of today’s gala. Everything and everyone seed to lose their color in front of her.
She wore a silver lace backless gown that reached the floor, elegant yet not lacking sensuality, with a deep V-neck design and cinched waistline that highlighted her graceful and alluring figure.
Her slightly curled long hair cascaded behind her, adding an air of enchanting allure. Her face, needless to say, was exquisitely petite, barely adorned yet stunningly beautiful, almost alluring enough to captivate anyone who looked.
Sophie Smith felt uncomfortable under Oliver Johnson’s gaze and slightly lowered her head.
Oliver realized he had been rude and withdrew his gaze.
"When the gala begins later, I will go on stage to give a speech. Can you stay by my side as my female companion?"
"Ah?" Sophie was a bit troubled, "Well, I..."
"After all, you are now a spokesperson for Hush Sky, so both publicly and privately, you wouldn’t refuse , right?" Oliver Johnson curled his charming lips, subtly cornering her.
Helplessly, she nodded in agreent and followed Oliver backstage.
"Dear guests, welco to the Hush Sky gala. As we begin, let’s welco Mr. Oliver Johnson from Hush Sky Group to give his speech."
An unending wave of applause rose from the audience, causing Sophie Smith’s legs to feel weak. Suddenly, she regretted her decision today.
The attendees were all prominent figures of high society, and she felt from the depths of her heart that she didn’t belong here.
But now the bow is drawn; there’s no turning back.
Under the dazzling lights, she walked slowly onto the center stage of the gala, holding Oliver’s arm, catching everyone’s attention.
For a mont, the audience was silent, awed by her stunning beauty today.
Oliver lowered his head and gave her a slight smile.
"Thank you all for attending the Hush Sky gala. The developnt of Hush Sky Group today wouldn’t have been possible without your support and assistance,..."
Oliver’s pleasing voice hovered at her ear, yet due to her tension, Sophie felt it drifting near and far, sowhat indistinct.
Her eyes inadvertently scanned the crowd, and suddenly, a shadow she knew all too well appeared in her sight.
Asher Land!
Oh my God, why is he here?
Below the stage, Asher Land, with slender fingers, held a wine glass, standing afar, watching.
He was at a loss for words to describe the anger brewing within him. She actually attended the Hush Sky gala behind his back? Previously, she tried every way to blow him off!
He considered her his woman, but at this mont, how did she regard him?
Despite the fury in his heart, his calm deanor betrayed no sign, as he raised the wine glass to his lips and took a sip.
The action was elegant and dignified.
Sophie’s grip on Oliver’s arm unconsciously tightened, the fear in her eyes becoming more evident, and her courage to stay on stage even for a mont quickly evaporated.
Her subtle shift was not unnoticed by Oliver.
He briefly introduced Sophie to the guests and then released her from the stage, knowing she did not wish to accompany him.
Sophie felt like she’s been granted amnesty, heading off the stage.
What should she do? What could she do?
He surely saw her, and he definitely won’t let her slip away!
