"Edward, where are you?" As soon as she arrived at the school, Sophie Smith took out her phone and dialed Edward Harrison’s number.
"Oh, Little Sophie, I’m rehearsing. The school is organizing a drama competition."
"Rehearsing, huh." Sophie felt a bit disappointed. She had finally co back to school, but she couldn’t see him?
"Little Sophie, are you at school?"
"I just got back to school..."
"Wait a mont, I’ll be right out."
Saying she wasn’t happy would be a lie; a sweet smile appeared on Sophie’s lips.
Before long, Edward ca out running, looking a bit out of breath.
"Edward, why were you in such a rush? It’s okay to slow down." Sophie quickly took out tissues from her bag and handed them to him.
"I didn’t want you to wait too long. You’re a busy person now, filming movies, so I’m worried you don’t have much ti." Edward thoughtfully replied.
Only when she was with Edward did she feel completely unburdened, able to let down her guard.
Being with Edward was happiness; Sophie understood this well.
The two grew up together, always attending the sa school and class. Even when they filled out college applications after exams, they planned it together.
So, she sincerely believed that their bond was simply destined.
Suddenly, Asher Land’s image flashed in her mind. Thanks to that Demon, she felt that the purity between her and Edward was gradually fading.
"Hey, Little Sophie!" Edward waved his hand in front of her. "Look at you, so absent-minded. Filming is tiring; take care of yourself."
After speaking, Edward went to a nearby vending machine and got a cup of yogurt.
"Plain flavor."
He knew her taste well, of course, thanks to their 21 years together.
"Edward, you’re so good."
Edward’s lips curved into a slight smile. When it ca to Sophie, he just instinctively treated her well. Having grown up together, he always considered her an important part of his life.
"How does it feel to be the leading actress?" Edward lovingly watched her drink the yogurt and tucked her loose strands of hair behind her ear.
Leading actress?
Sophie’s heart trembled. Feelings?
It was this so-called ’leading actress’ position that trapped her with the Demon, Asher Land. Perhaps in the eyes of others, she was a lucky girl favored by fate, but only she knew this ’leading actress’ role had ruined her—destroyed her purity, her hopes for the future, and even, even, her love.
She could no longer face Edward as innocently and straightforwardly as before.
"Maybe I’m still a bit unadjusted. I didn’t have much acting experience before, and now I’m playing the lead..."
"Relax, Little Sophie. You should see this as an opportunity, not a burden, you know? You don’t know how many people dream of your position."
Dream of it?
Now, she just wanted to escape from this position, so she might not have to face Asher Land.
"Let take you out for so fun." Seeing that Sophie seed a bit distracted, Edward took her hand and led her outside the campus.
"But you still have rehearsals for the drama..."
"It’s alright."
Edward always filled her heart with sunlight, warm and cozy.
Strolling through every familiar corner of the campus—the comrcial street, artificial lake, library—Sophie held Edward’s hand, feeling like a woman in love, eting soone who made her happy in the pri of her youth.
"Let’s go to Fire Palace, my treat." Edward suggested.
Hotpot was her favorite, though she usually paid attention to maintaining her health and rarely ate spicy foods. So she and Edward had agreed to indulge in hotpot once a month, with Edward by her side.
"Sure, you really know best."
The two of them excitedly walked into Fire Palace and only ca out by evening.
"Little Sophie, where are you staying now? You haven’t told ."
"I... I’ve rented a place closer to the filming site."
"Let take you back." Edward proposed.
"No, there’s no need."
Sophie declined Edward’s offer. She wasn’t even sure what she was thinking—perhaps it was because of Asher Land. That man was truly terrifying, and she had gradually begun to realize it.
