Sophie Smith had a long, long dream.
She dread that she was lying on a cold operating table, a group of people holding her down, all threatening to remove the child from her womb.
Around her stood people she knew and so she didn’t.
"Remove the child from her womb, does she deserve to bear a child for the Land Family?"
"Maybe she had this bastard from fooling around with that man!"
"Shaless woman!"
"..."
Her hands were tightly restrained, with no opportunity to resist at all. She looked at those cold instrunts, trembling fiercely.
Beside her stood that familiar man who slept by her side every night.
"I beg you, save our child." She pleaded, looking at him, yet he turned his back decisively.
A line of tears trickled down her face.
She watched helplessly as the doctor approached with a scalpel, cut open her stomach, and rcilessly took out her child, throwing it into the trash can.
"No!"
She woke from the dream, not knowing if it was sweat or tears soaking her pillow.
She sat on the bed, heart pounding with lingering fear, gasping for breath.
His cold gaze lingered in her mind, she only felt a certain spot in her heart, hurting, hurting.
...
Asher Land sat in his office, flipping through the docunts in his hands out of boredom.
He hadn’t seen her for a week. During this ti, he didn’t think of finding her, but knowing she was busy dealing with her father’s issues, he didn’t want to ask her to be with him, afraid it would burden her.
During the afternoon eting, he was sowhat absent-minded, prompting the secretary to notice and approach him.
"President Land, are you not feeling well? Should we visit the hospital?" the secretary kindly reminded him.
He intended to say no, but his head grew heavier and increasingly disobedient.
With no choice, he paused the eting and had Robert Williams drive him to the hospital.
He lay on the hospital bed, his face pale as he received an IV, lasting the whole afternoon.
"Mr. Land, you may leave now. Please take care of your health, smoke less, and drink less," the nurse gently advised.
"Mm," he casually responded, picking up his suit jacket and leaving the ward.
He had barely taken a few steps when an all-too-familiar silhouette appeared before him.
To his annoyance, there was another man with her?
The two walked and chatted, seemingly enjoying their conversation.
He recognized that it was Oliver Johnson, holding a bag of fruit as they walked into the sa ward together.
Just when did she beco so close with him?
He didn’t leave imdiately; taking the car keys from Robert Williams, he inexplicably hid near her hospital room.
Sophie Smith decided to go ho and make dinner for Christopher Smith. Oliver Johnson ’volunteered’ to cook a al for Christopher, who was naturally very pleased, thus Sophie decided to go back with Oliver.
Asher Land leaned against the wall, not sure how long he waited until she finally ca out of the ward, and sure enough, Oliver was still by her side.
They walked ahead, while he silently followed behind.
He wanted to see what she had been up to behind his back this past week.
