"What’s wrong with you?" Sophie Smith saw Asher Land zoning out and thought her previous words might have hurt him. After all, he was a man with a lot of pride, and besides, he never needed to try to please won since they always flocked to him.
"Actually, the roses are quite beautiful, and, and the lights have a nice atmosphere..." Sophie tugged at his sleeve, "Don’t be mad, okay?"
Mad?
"I wouldn’t get mad at you, you little brat." He looked at her indulgently, tucking a stray strand of her hair behind her ear.
"Little brat?" Sophie glared at him, "Asher, can you watch what you’re saying? I’m not a little brat!"
"You’re the one who should watch what you say. I’m your elder now."
Ha, wasn’t he just called uncle?
"How can you talk to your uncle like that? Rember to use respectful terms in the future, okay? At least you should understand the basics of respecting the elderly." He joked with her.
"No way, I’m used to calling you Asher."
Standing behind them, Robert Williams couldn’t help but laugh at the scene before him.
Who knew the big boss and Miss Smith could be so childish.
However, he was also a bit worried. It seed Asher Land was no longer pursuing the betrayal of Sophie. As his right-hand man, Robert didn’t want to see Asher losing himself over a woman.
Still, he didn’t overthink it and tactfully left, considering himself a third wheel with ample energy.
Sophie suddenly beca playful and went up to the carousel. She got on, the wooden horse spinning her around and around, while Asher stood nearby, hands in his pockets, smiling as he watched her.
After a while, he took out his phone and snapped a picture of her.
Suddenly, a loud noise erupted in the sky, and Sophie instinctively looked up to see fireworks soaring high and bursting into bloom, one after another.
"So beautiful." She walked up to him, smiling as she looked up.
"Isn’t it a bit cliché?" he raised his eyebrows and asked.
"A little..."
"..."
"Alright, I’ll make sure our next date is satisfying for you." He realized his mistake, wondering why he had asked Robert, a man who had never even held a woman’s hand, to plan a romantic date.
"Do we still need to date? Aren’t we already living together?" Isn’t it a bit odd to date like that?
"Wasn’t it you who said you liked things to be a bit more romantic?"
"..."
Asher really was different now; he was trying to understand her, wasn’t he?
This so-called date wasn’t exactly pleasant; the wind made Sophie shiver, and Asher pulled her in, wrapping her small fra in his coat.
She stayed quietly in his arms, feeling the warmth radiating from his body.
"Asher, I want to ask you sothing."
"What?"
"If one day you don’t want anymore, could you let know in advance?" She knew that she could never give herself to another man in this life; he would be her only one. So in case he didn’t want her anymore, she wanted so psychological preparation.
"Silly lady, how could I not want you? You won’t be able to escape in this lifeti." He lowered his head, planting a kiss in her hair.
For so many years, it was the first ti he truly realized that this was what it felt like to be moved.
