The atmosphere in the car was so quiet it was almost frightening. After a long while, Asher Land finally spoke.
"You said you were out to see Eva Miller late at night, so why is Oliver Johnson here too?"
His tone seed to carry a hint of interrogation.
"He asked Eva to arrange a eting with ," Sophie Smith replied honestly. "He knows I wouldn’t see him, so he had to ask Eva for help. Eva’s feelings for him are quite complex now..."
As she spoke, she gently caressed her abdon with her fingers. Asher noticed her subtle gesture and thought that the child in her belly might have been bothering her again.
"Are you okay?"
"Hmm?" Sophie wasn’t sure if he was asking about the baby in her belly. She paused, then continued, "I’m fine. You don’t need to worry about . I won’t do anything silly."
She was so certain, it was as if she was about to raise both hands to swear it to the heavens.
Hearing her say this, he naturally felt much relieved.
"Asher, I hope you won’t go looking for trouble with Oliver Johnson anymore." She turned to him, who was focused on driving, her gaze sincere.
"I’m not trying to be holier-than-thou, he’s been quite good to my dad, and this incident might not be related to him."
"Might? So that ans you aren’t a hundred percent sure it’s unrelated to him?"
He knew she would say sothing like this, so he hadn’t handled the matter privately. He believed that even if he didn’t step in, Hush Sky and Oliver Johnson would surely face the appropriate punishnt, even if it ant they would suffer a little less.
Sophie turned her head to look out the window, watching the bustling scenes swiftly retreat in her eyes.
Actually, in her life, there was still hope, not all despair.
Didn’t she still have Asher Land?
"Asher, it’s fortunate I still have you," she murmured softly.
His body stiffened a bit. She said, Asher, it’s fortunate I still have you.
At this mont, she could place him in the most important, irreplaceable spot in her heart—how proud he should feel.
"Sophie, I’ll always stay by your side."

Waking up in the morning, Sophie seed to hear so unusual sounds.
She moved her sowhat cumberso body, turning over, and saw that Asher was still asleep.
Perhaps he was also tired from accompanying her during this period.
She was about to close her eyes to sleep a little more, but that unusual sound rang out again.
Sophie was a bit surprised and searched around, only to discover that there was a little furry creature beside the bed.
Turns out it was the stray dog she had picked up from the roadside not long ago.

"If you don’t go out, he’ll teach you a lesson." It was as if she was talking to herself.
She turned to look at the man behind her, and inexplicably, a mischievous idea popped into her head.
"Before he gets to you, why don’t I help you ’teach’ him a lesson."
