Nathan Land threw the gun onto the ground, his eyes devoid of any emotion, and turned to leave, leaning on his dragon-headed cane.
Enzo Land and Colton Morton, along with their group, each harbored their own thoughts and didn’t linger long, following him out.
"Quick, call the doctor over!" Oscar Land’s eyes were filled with urgency as he hastily instructed the maid.
The maid responded promptly and rushed towards the doctor’s annex.
Sophie Smith’s hands trembled; she had no idea what she should do.
Asher Land’s lips curled into a weak smile; he knew that seeing him like this must have frightened her greatly.
"Just have the bullet removed, and it’ll be over..."
Regardless of any harm, he always carried an air of calm indifference.
"Asher Land, I hate myself so much; it’s all because of that you’ve ended up like this..."
Tears fell silently, and watching her cry was more painful than getting shot.
"The doctor is here!" The maid hurriedly led several doctors inside, and Sophie quickly stepped aside.
"First, help Young Master to the room and prepare for surgery to extract the bullet," the doctor instructed the nurse beside him.
Fortunately, the Land Family’s old residence always had a highly skilled dical team that could remain calm in the face of any sudden situation.
Asher Land was helped onto the bed, and the doctor cut open the sleeve of his left arm with scissors.
"Prepare the anesthetic and sterilize the scalpel," the doctor said, then glanced at Sophie standing nearby.
"Miss, please step outside."
Sophie wanted to say sothing but was pulled away by Oscar Land.
"Let’s go; the doctor will do his best, and Asher will be fine. Let’s head out first and not interfere with them."
Helplessly, Sophie had to follow Oscar out.
The wide, bright corridor was illuminated by crystal lights casting a gentle glow. Leaning against the wall, her body slowly crouched down, hugging her knees and curling into a ball.
Oscar wheeled himself to her side, and seeing her pitiful, painful deanor reminded him of the mont the bullet pierced Asher’s arm, making him feel distressed as well.
As if witnessing his own past.
"It was truly my mistake; I shouldn’t have co here; I shouldn’t have co..."
Her voice was stuttering and tinged with a sob.
At this mont, Oscar found himself unable to offer any consolation, for in the face of cruel reality, any comforting words were ineffectual.
Over twenty minutes later, Luke Land also rushed over.
"Did the old man really act?" Luke’s eyes were red with anger.
Oscar sighed and nodded.
Luke paced around in agitation before punching the wall.
"The suffering we’ve endured from him, soday we’ll pay it back tenfold!"
"Keep your voice down." Oscar’s lips curled into a hint of helplessness. Nathan controlled the three brothers, and one day, he’d tornt them to the point of being better off dead.
They wouldn’t sit idly by.
After a long ti, the door opened, and several doctors and nurses ca out together.
"How is he?" Luke rushed towards the doctors, and Sophie quickly stood up and ran over.
"If you want a full recovery, it’s nearly impossible; Young Master’s hand,..."
Sophie’s gaze was fixed on the doctor who had spoken, waiting for a miracle, a glimr of hope.
"Young Master’s hand is likely crippled."
