"Mr. Davis, please don’t tease anymore."
Sophie Smith said and quickly walked out, not wanting to relive last night’s nightmare.
Nolan Davis saw her flee in panic and felt a bit helpless; it must have been that he scared her last night. It’s probably a case of once bitten, twice shy, and he reckons he’ll have to pay for his impulsiveness last night.
Thinking about it, he felt frustrated.
...
Robert Williams drove into the Land Family estate; Asher Land had just stepped into the East Garden when Luke followed him.
"The old man is awake," Luke’s eyes betrayed so unease. "Didn’t expect it to happen so quickly, and he said if you returned, to call you over. He’s likely planning to settle scores with you."
Asher Land said nothing, only darkened his expression. His face looked as though a storm might break at any mont.
"Aren’t you going to say sothing?" Luke, not getting a response, was left unsure of what he was thinking. "Don’t be afraid; I’ve spoken to Colton Morton and his daughter. They will plead for you later."
"Ha, what’s there to be afraid of," he sneered. "The worst result is simply death, isn’t it?"
"You..." Luke felt that saying anything after that was pointless.
"Seeing you like this now, once you go over, the old man might pass out from anger again," Luke thought of the old man’s cruel punishnts and couldn’t help but shiver, a chill running down his spine.
Asher Land followed Luke to the villa where Nathan Land was staying.
He was lying back on the bed, and upon seeing Asher Land enter, his complexion worsened considerably.
Even Luke couldn’t help but marvel at his formidable third brother.
"Kneel!" Despite being ill, Nathan Land’s intimidating presence was undiminished.
This ti, Asher Land didn’t resist at all, slowly kneeling on the ground.
"You’re so incorrigible?" Nathan Land, supported by Alia Williams, got out of bed and struck him hard on the back with his cane. Perhaps due to the worsening of Nathan Land’s illness or his two-day coma, the blow landed on his back with little sensation this ti.
"I’ve lost count of the number of chances I’ve given you, yet you insist on repeatedly testing my limits!" Nathan Land threw the cane on the ground. "I see you’ve beco besotted by that woman!"
"Today I’ll introduce a new punishnt, so you’ll have no ti left to think about that woman." A sinister, terrifying smile spread across Nathan Land’s face, making everyone’s scalp tingle, except for Asher Land, who remained indifferent.
A man in a white coat carrying a dical box ca in, opened it, and took out a syringe.
"Father, what are you planning to do?" Luke felt a sense of foreboding. "Third brother truly realizes his mistake; there won’t be a next ti. Please forgive him."
"Yes, Uncle Land, forgive Brother Asher," Irene Morton tugged at Colton Morton’s sleeve, signaling for him to step forward and speak.
"Brother Land, perhaps Asher acted impulsively this ti; could you forgive him? We can reschedule the engagent party between Asher and Irene."
"You think he’ll get engaged to Irene? He’s fled twice; there will be a third and fourth ti. Can I, Nathan Land, afford to lose face like this?"
